This is what Captain drone was trying to say. Hubsan Zino mini Pro is packing everything you every wanted on a mini drone under 249G. Other competitors don't even come close. I'm enjoying my Zino mini Pro, and everything about it. Hubsan really came out with a drone. That everyone ever dreamed for. Awesome review captain drone!

I do not understand why no one says what are good for the files with low resolution. It's simple, you can use it for editing in Premiere Pro as proxy files and the editing time is significantly reduced, especially if you shoot 4K. DJI saves chace files with low resolution and I find them very useful for editing with proxy files.

The ability to change bitrate isn't meant for static "floating" video, it's for when you are moving, and at different speeds. E.G. just the same as video encoding for TV/movies - if what's in front of the camera isn't moving much, lower bitrates will do, but any fast action scenes, or quick camera-pans, etc will look terrible with low bitrate.

I was really disappointed the Mini 2 didn't have any significant camera upgrade for photography. Since DJI went the SE route it makes me think we won't see a real Mini 3.

@Lon Denard most of the reviews I've seen of the Mini Pro have had a lot about them saying it holds it back.
OA isn't a selling point for me. A lot of the bells and whistles on this aren't main selling points for me in a drone of this size.
I'm sure I'll hold out for the next DJI Mini iteration. I was bummed out the SE wasn't any real upgrade and makes me nervous we won't see a Mini 3.

SD cards do have a lower transfer rate then 200, so that is why memory in the drone is good.
About zoom, that can be done in post production. I preferes original solution for post production. And presumably when setting in the app.
Obstical avoidicanse is there for GIS and photo missions when it run missions. And thus is for advance experts, not just amateurs. As you shown in your tracking part of the video.

I really like that Hubsan made this product. It has enough features that would make me pick it over the Mini 2. This should force DJI to come up with something new with even more features for the mini line. Hopefully Hubsan fixes the small issues soon. btw, I lol'd at the drone hitting the light, it looked so funny because it looked like a person walking into something and stumbling but saying "I'm ok!"

the two different video files that is save is for, the large resolution is your original file. The other small resolution file is use for stream if you want to watch it on your smartphone so that it transfer fast rather than buffering without taking off the sd card from the drone.. In other drone case they put the other small file from directly recorded from your smartphone and the original resolution is in the sd card for example in DJI you could see that the small resolution file is save on your phone..

Hey Captain, thanks for the unbiased overall review.
You name the flaws without overstating them. You point out the strengths and weaknesses and manage to work through the most important points in a single video. And the whole entertaining and understandable!
One of the best test videos I have seen so far on the ZMP.
Probably I will wait until the DJI Mini 3 is on the market or at least reliable information about features and price are known and then look at the maturity of the software of the ZMP and its selling price in comparison before I spend my money.
    Greetings from Germany

I got this drone and was so excited about it. After getting it out the box I struggled to set it up. Then I managed to get it in the air for 5 minutes before a heat warning came on. Landed it and the thing was super hot. Could have fried an egg on it. Then I got it up before I got usb disconnected and it never connected to my phone again. Also the obstacle avoidance is impossible to set up without a pc which I don't have which they could have said. Then I got a DJI mini 2 as a replacement. Sure it doesn't have all the features but at least it works and works well!

Another con for a tiny drone (like the DJI Mini and unlike the Fimi Mini) is that you HAVE to fly it using a HUGE and HEAVY remote, not great if you want to take some shots while riding or hiking. Hope DJI bring back that feature on the Mini 3...

Good review! Few points from me:
    1. Mini 2 has only digital zoom so the same effect you can achieve with Zino in the post-production. I like more the way how Hubsan does it - while flying you can zoom something without forcing the drone to reduce recording quality (because digital zoom works like that)
    2. I don't understand why you said that the Mini 2 is better for everyone who doesn't need additional features. Only point in which Mini 2 is better it is software/firmware maturity.... or I missed something in your review?
BTW: I am Mini2 user (and few different DJI drones).

For a drone with weight less than 250g, massive internal memory storage (64-128 GB) and comes with the avoidance sensors is considerably great. But because of the way Hubsan works (referring to the late update / upgrade firmwares and some cases take too long time to respond) with some technical issues. I will put this drone in the third or fourth place. I will go for other options unless if the Hubsan can fix all those technical issues. It is pretty ironic that Hubsan removes the memory card slot and install zoom in feature but can't be transferred to the final video production and the video feed is unavailable as long as you don't fly it.

If you are having difficulty flying in nomal mode then you simply need to look at the drone and IMAGINE that you are a PILOT sitting in the nose of the drone, and everything will make sense.

Great!!! I've already wrote to Hubsan, as a trick, to integrate a small fan integrated with a new battery even if the autonomy is lowered but I think that if it were even only 15 minutes real, the fun is still guaranteed. In this way, 2 problems would be solved: the discussed weight below 250 grams and the temperature. A battery built with the necessary air intakes, even if little, would ensure good ventilation and heat dissipation. This idea has already been sent to Zolly as well :)

    • @markred4112
      @markred4112 3 года назад +2

@Lon Denard Maybe I misspelled myself. I didn't say anything needs to be added but it's the battery that needs to be resized to fit a cooling fan. The resized battery, of course, will have less duration and even if it should last 15 real minutes, I repeat, in my opinion, it is more than enough to ensure the fun :)

Steve, your comments/reviews are very valuable. No chaff - pure corn.
If you need to make a choice, not for expert money-making machines, what is the difference between HABSAN MINI PRO 2 plus or MINI 2 DJI.
Notable, DJI MINI 2 is proven a work horse. DJI MINI 3 must arrive soon.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  3 года назад +2

ZINO MINI PRO is what the MINI 3 will be like (well, almost like), except the MINI 3 will cost three times as much (expect it to be expensive). The DJI MINI 2 is an older drone but a really good one. The only thing the ZINO PRO offers is longer flight time, tracking and obstacle detection in a low priced unit. If you have super deep pockets and want the best of a drone under 250 grams, then the DJI MINI 3 will be your drone (it is expected to be out in the first quarter of next year).

We're alpha testers and patience is what you will need if you buy this Drone.. In Bucket fulls.. Best effort yet by Hubsan but they have a long haul ahead to get this Drone up to speed. Yes this little Drone has all the Bells and Whistles but, and this is a huge but, the Camera footage is awful to date with jello and massive color shifts and surely that is the whole point of an aerial Drone at this price point to make great movies. If Hubsan nail the poor camera this indeed will be the contender for the Crown

Always been a Hubsan owner with many types of drones they make but this one is not on my list yet because of the many dissapointing reviews from guys like us in Canada ( you know who you are) and some very good reviewers from the States. This one is a hurry up and wait approach. My original Zino is still going but do not do any updates our you could brick the thing so buyer beware is the way to go at this time. Hubsan is also well known for their lousy customer service as well, not like DJI. You must have the top of the line model because other reviewers did not have the same luck and performance that yours was so once again, BUYER BEWARE. Thank you Steve for my rant.

I have a Zino Mini Pro (ZMP) and feel that Captain's review was accurate and very thorough. I like the 80% vs 95% comparison but as I'm not a DJI owner I'm not in a position to compare but the ZMP is great to fly and produces good video and stills. However, are we in a position now where the software is as important if not more important than the hardware so the fact that the ZMP has a larger sensor is maybe not so important any more? I've seen some great Mini 2 videos. I would love to hear some comparisons in this regard.
Another factor is that the ZMP takes RAW photos but this is not yet implemented properly so is not yet useable (The 80% thing). I'm looking forward to this feature.
In summary, this is a great drone, IMO, but my experience to date is with far cheaper drones than this. Well done Hubsan.

Great review.... but if the camera has jittery video that's a major reject as it defeats the purpose. Sounds like the problems I had with the Zino 1, which I had that could not be solved due to the gimbal design. In the original Zino the gimbal just hung from the top with four rubber dampers from every corner - so it just dangled. The newer drones since the Zino 1... Like the Mavic Mini have two dampers from the top and the other two connected to the body at the sides - for extra stability. If the Hubsan Mini Pro gimbal uses the same design as the original Zino this will be a fundamental flaw cause the gimbal can't move fast enough to prevent drone shake.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

If you are a newbie to the beginner camera gps drones, then you are just going to destroy your drone trying to take off and land from a boat. Your best to find a good drone, then practice hand launching and catching on land on a windy day. Once those skills are good and you haven't lost an eye or needed stitches, then doing the same on a boat should not be an issue. For people who fly these beginner GPS drones often, it's not that hard to hand launch and hand catch, even on a boat, but it does require skills and confidence.
Perhaps get yourself a drone that you can just land in the water like the ones offered from SWELLPRO.

It will be OK, DJI has my back and they will make a Mini 3 and when they do I'll say the Mini 2 is crap. You see how this plays out? Also, the Mini 3 is going to come out in two versions... One very expensive version that everyone will complain about due to the price, and one less expensive version missing all the great features. This is how these drone companies play the game. So if you Love ONLY DJI, then ya gotta pay the big bucks to get the same features that a drone from a lesser company offers. Certainly the DJI Version with the same features will be better but it will be costly.
