i wonder if this is much better than say the holystone hs720e 4k EIS or the c fly faith2 or fimi x8 4k that were released a couple of years ago?
Usually, you get what you pay for. However, Fimi breaks this rule. I have mini v2, and what I have to admit... I like this drone. It offers more than one can expect for this price. Certainly, it shoots not so great as DJI mini 3 or 4 does, it hovers not so stable, and the controls are not so smooth. Yet, flying is interesting. Tons of features, solid body and a crazy speed😅
Insane footage
Steve can you adjust the height limits so you can climb a mountain and not be limited? I just want to be able to climb, staying close to the mountain, and ascend without hitting the 400ft ceiling.
I don’t believe so because it all begins with the takeoff point and then counts upwards from there.
Consider NOT doing the latest FIRMWARE UPDATE 1006b.
It fixes one thing and makes 4 other things worse
Let me know what 4 things are now worse on your FIMI MINI 3. I'll then check out if that firmware update also affects my drone in the same way.
BE CAREFUL ordering this drone.
I ordered 3 battery package. Received with one battery on June 2. Still waiting for additional 2 batteries. Still not shipped.
Remember once you pay for it you are stuck with it even if is defective. Fimi customer service is bad.
The fimi mini 3 is definitely feature packed.
Many more features than my DJI mini 2 and comparable to my DJI mini 3 pro. Some of the features work better than dji. eg. orbit. However my dji drones are better flying., more stable, better in windy conditions and fly further and for longer.
I'm happy with my fimi mini 3. Good for the money. However if you can afford it always buy DJI. You'll have a better experience.
Until the U.S. bans them....and the geofencing is a pain in the posterior.
This is one of the best drones around today 👍😀. It's packed up with tons of features. And the video quality is excellent 💯.

I’m sure you will enjoy it. FIMI has been around for a long time and they pack a ton of features in their drones.
I used your BG discount code to order a Fimi Mini 3 (Thanks for that.) It will supplement (or maybe replace) my venerable DJI Mini 2. I'm most interested in the camera with its low-light performance to make the most of the sunsets we see down here (Tasmania). I'm also wondering what (if anything) it could capture of the occasional Aurora Australis we get in these parts.
Search and Rescue mode would make for a great artillary guidance tool.

Any updates that fix the little inconvenience of the drone not coming back when using certain modes?
It is good drone until it comes to support, especially on fixing the drone after warranty and you want to pay for it. Then it all fails and money is thrown away. There is a reason why you pay for drones like DJI that offers support years after the released product.
Great review! It's always nice to have a plan B in case the US Govt. shuts down any DJI drones. I'd love to get your opinion on the Cogito Specta Air and Specta Mini, DJI 'clones' made in Malaysia using DJI tech but designed to get around potential US tariffs...

Great review Steve. This is one impressive drone. Should my mini 3 pro bite the bullet I'd seriously consider this drone.
I would avoid Fimi drones all together.they sent me a defective drone then sent me a return label, it was delivered and signed for and they tried saying they didn’t get it and I have to get the drone back(from across the country) and send it to china, which obviously at this point is impossible to do. The kicker was when they tried to tell me to mark the value of the drone as 1$ and to tell the post office there are no batteries so they get as cheap as possible shipping. Xioami Fimi Is a scam. That’s just my experience but the drones suck too. Honestly the toiletbowling is worse then holy stone which is saying a lot
When you buy a Fimi you are stuck with it.
I been waiting more than 4 weeks for the extra battery I paid for and the bonus battery I was promised. After sale service at Fimi sucks.

Just so you don’t get the wrong understanding of the video… that range test was not MAX range. As noted in the video, I live in Canada and am not permitted to fly out 5.5 miles, so I cut it short at just under 1.5 miles just to show that the video coming back to the transmitter was not choppy.

I received the mini 3 today and I could not even reach 400 meters without losing video signal and I was doing the same route I did many times with the Potensic Atom going 5 km ( 10km total ). Tried 2.4 and 5.8GHz, many antenna angles to no avail, the signal goes frame by frame and when I turn the drone it just completely breaks the connection and the drone enters RTH. Do you happen to have any tips on that ? Thanks
@@virpzThe DJI mini 3 should fly farther than that. Now if it was the older models like Mini 1 or Mini SE models then those old models are wifi and have no range. You must be in an area with crazy interference.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798Sorry, I was taking about the fimi mini 3. Well, the potensic is wifi and can handle that same area pretty well and got 10x more range . I will try a new pairing tomorrow and see how that goes. FCC tells me the fimi got one antenna for 5.8GHz and the other for 2.4GHz on the drone and controller and that setup makes it is very limited specially if you turn the drone to the right while using 5.8GHz. DJI mini 2/4k got two dual band antennas and the potensic atom got two 2.4GHz antennas and with that kind of arrangement it doesn't matter which side you turn the drone to. 5.8Ghz is good for short range penetration and 2.4GHz is better at long range.

Fimi mini 3 is currently best. I don’t know if it can take a photo while recording video.

Does it have geofencing? I'm tired of not being able to take off near airports with my dji mini 2. I only fly at approx 200ft.
I did not notice any geofence warnings when I flew it, but I do get the warnings on my mini 4 pro

What is the live image feed like. A lot of test show a very poor quality live image is it that bad? Yours looks better than most
I’m not sure why the live feed would look poor, although it does depend on phone quality so if someone is using a budget phone it’s not going to look good.

If yes, what is the supported resolution?
That would be crap video/photo resolution (no one bothers with that).
Should have cover the portrait mode as well. Great vid overall 👍🏻
Portrait mode is just a vertical crop of horizontal so not a great feature (most inexpensive drones handle vertical mode in this manner). So far only the DJI Mini 3 pro and Mini 4 pro physically rotate the camera in vertical mode.

I like Fimi Minis -- but not their support.
But what I really miss from Fimis is DJI's flight data in subtitles. So I can see any time the position and distances wathing the video.
And I have no idea how to get my flight records from Fimi. I'd really like to handle them off-line on my PC.

It does shoot vertical but the gimbal does not rotate (you are thinking of the DJI mini 3 and 4 pro).

I enjoy the unboxing and the flying but will it be around and still running 3 months later.
Good idea and if I have a free period of time, sure. But as history shows, I rarely do a follow ups as my available time is taken up by new product reviews.

Nope. You only calibrate the compass if the drone tells you to. The only time the drone will tell you to do that is if you went and placed the drone near a metal object before takeoff.

No geo fence. That is only a DJI thing.

The manual says that a flashing red light on the back of the drone means that the drone is ready to fly, but it just keeps flashing green. i waited 30 minutes and tried compass calibration and changing the antennas position, but still the same, and i only get 15 sattelites or lower, maybe thats the problem?
Also the app gives a warning saying "sensor temperature too high" even if i just have the drone ON for 5 minutes?
should i calibrate the compass, RC, and gimbal every time i turn the drone ON?
I’m not sure what you are doing but simply take the drone outside, power it on with remote and phone connected. When you see at least 9 satellites on your phone screen… FLY! Ignore the lights. Also, every drone on the planet produces heat when sending a video signal, so if you don’t fly within 2 min of Turing on the drone, it’s gonna get hot.

Maybe the version that you have does not have such an option (it’s not an option people use anymore)

Which is better all depends on your needs and where you live. Fimi has more features and no Geo Flight Restrictions, and DJI has better international support if you need your drone repaired due to a bad crash.

Well done Captain!; thank goodness when you tried the "Lock" mode you had your pants on !!!!!; joke aside, the Camera Video quality (Colour / sharpness) reminded a lot of the Typhoon H / Xiro / The Egg! as I believe they were all Sony Cameras / Sensors, very impressive!
Thought about waiting for a sale on the dji 4k mini, but it has worse specs and cost 350 euro with 2 batteries in total without a sale. Do you think buying a fimi 3 with 2 batteries in total for 265 euros is a good deal?

I think you’d be happy with the Fimi mini 3. Yes, Fimi doesn’t have the greatest customer service, but it depends on where you live in the world.

The Fimi mini 3 is a good drone for beginners who like a lot of features.
I own Fimi mini 3, DJI mini 2, and DJI mini 3 pro. Besides the features the Fimi mini 3 pales in comparison to DJI when it comes to video/photo quality and performance. The fimi video/photos look over saturated with bad color profile. The microchip is weak and gives you poor transmission. Flight time and range are much shorter than DJI. Hover is very unstable and it flies poorly on windy days.
If you are a professional photographer buy DJI. If you are a beginner then Fimi is good enough for you.
As mentioned in the video.... DJI Fan Boys are hard to please

PS. I guess the Fimi mini 3 will be replacing your DJI Mini 4 Pro. If you are looking to sell I'm in the market for one. I'll give you top dollar because I know you keep good care of your stuff. Shipping shouldn't be much since I live in Ontario.

What i can do if my Phone does not connect to the controller i have tried everything possible and 3 different Phones??
You are doing something WRONG! My guess is your problem is the cable you are using between your phone & the drone or you are using the WRONG app. Try a different cable, remove your phone case, make sure you are using the correct Phone App.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 i using the fimi navi mini app and i bought a New data cable but it just doesnt work. Could a usb c to usb a adapter work? The drone is still able to fly and obeys the controller, but when i press enter device from the application it says Phone not connected to remote control. Pls can you solve this problem i want to video regord my flights.
How’s this compare to the Potensic Atom?
It is better than the ATOM as it is feature packed.
There should be a drone that can follow an RC aircraft, so that you can put your FPV headset on and fly the RC aircraft, but using the camera on the drone, like 3rd person view in a video game. It'll be epic, I mean god knows if it can be done, but I'm just and ideas man, I'll leave the details to the engineers.
Steve, thank you for checking, reviewing & posting these video reviews of budget drones. You bummed me out when you said the best bang for the buck with features and price for a "budget" drone. A couple of months ago I purchased the Potensic Atom. As a beginner I don't need the latest and greatest as I'm just learning how to fly and have a lot to learn. Hopefully I will be able to find more flying time.
Tech changes fast, so what is the best value today may not be the best tomorrow

@@macauinchina I was referring to the FIMI Mini 3 that Steve was reviewing in the video. The FIMI Mini 3 was a cheaper price than the Potensic Atom that I had recently purchased. Also, I liked the orange color of the FIMI Mini 3 as it's much easier to see.
Nice review as always, I have learned a lot from you over the years.
The Fimi Mini has a digital zoom slider next to the shutter button.
It also has a convenient sport model button in the right bottom of the main screen.
And then there's the tracking, in Lock mode you can also have the drone orbit the moving subject at different directions and speed.
Very nice features to me.

Does anybody know if it has any input lag when flying? I've got a cheaper drone and it's difficult to fly because of almost a half second of input lag.
All drones have lag, but obviously some drones have terrible lag. If a drone ONLY connects with the WIFI of your phone nice a cable going from the remote to your phone, then LAG is increased because it then becomes based on how good or bad your phone is and not the drone. So I'm guessing you have a less than stellar phone.

Is this as good as the DJI min Pro 3 ?
It depends. The DJI mini pro 3 does not have as many features and depending on where you live and fly it has geo flight restrictions. But even with less features then the FIMI and the inability to fly the mini 3 pro wherever you wish, it is still a more popular drone then the FIMI & has international repair support if you buy the insurance.
Good demo of most features. If you want features at a fair price then the fimi mini 3 is the drone for you.
If you got money and value performance and quality and a great customer experience buy a you know what.
If you are a hobbyist and want more competitive choices, at better prices, never buy a "you know what". Obstacle Over Hype is a Gimmick, as are these advertised ridiculous ranges. There should be a different rating for this instead of "range". As a hobbyist you would have to break FAA rules to use these features to their fullest. Visual line of sight means you have to be able to see the drone with your own eyes, all the time. Purposely turning your back to your drone while flying it means you can no longer see the drone with your own eyes, unless you are looking over your shoulder the entire time. Even a rear view mirror is not your own unaided vision just as using binoculars is not.
@@paulking7019 I own hubsan, mjx, Fimi, eachine and You Know What camera drones. The best by far are You Know What.
As far as OA is concerned I don't need it. However, I always have it on when using tracking/follow me.
PS. The marketplace is not stupid. You Know What is number one and dominates for a reason. They have the best combination of quality, performance, customer service and price.
PPS. I bought a 3 battery Fimi Mini 3 package. Received it on June 2 with one battery. Still waiting on other two batteries. Also USB C cable was defective. Now waiting for replacement. This would not have happened with you Know What.

3:21 can you lock onto something else, like a bus or train that is moving past or does it have to be yourself you have to chose to lock to ?
You can lock onto pretty much anything you draw a square around
