The Hubsan Zino Mini Pro, just does not give us that. It's too bad because the feature set on this drone is really great.

@@AirPhotography If you can actually get the firmware updates to work. I've had 8 attempts so far on the drone alone. The update for the controller wasn't a problem. I expected better from the video plus I'm getting a bit of strange break up a few times in the video.

Good honest review! Thanks. The calibration before every flight would be a deal breaker for me personally but some people may not mind. Video quality is extremely important since these are basically flying cameras. I did find the distance impressive. Perhaps some future updates will correct some or all of the issues you mentioned. Thanks again!
The initial compass calibration was a bit of a pain but I haven't been asked to do any more even though I've changed the battery 3 times. I was asked to do no more calibration before the last three flights.
Great video, Sean! I think the early consensus on the Zino Mini Pro, is that its performance isn't up to par with its specs. We all want DJI to have competition, but right now, this isn't it

That is a really good drone, don't take me wrong. But when comparing it to other DJI drones in my collection such as the DJI Mini 2 it doesn't stand up really well apart from it having front and rear sensors.
I was really looking forward to the reviews of this. I was disappointed my hopes of a DJI Mini 3 were dashed when they went the SE route instead, so I was hoping for a viable competitor to advance the Mini concept.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the Hubsan Zino Mini Pro now supports Obstacle Avoidance, Waypoints and Tracking/follow me functionality. I think your video mentioned that some of the advanced features weren't yet supported? What advanced feature were you referring to exactly?
Thank you for a great review! Clear and concise. I've been waiting for someone to have a honest non bias review that highlights the pros and cons. There does seem to be a handful of issues with the Zino and I don't think I want to "wait" for "hopefull" firmware updates. I was just about to buy the Zino and after watching this I think I am going to go with the DJI Mini 2. I want something that is reliable, solid, great video quality and less issues. I am planning on doing a few video shoots in October and I don't think there will be enough time for DJI to release a newer version of the Mini 2 not to mention when it will actually be released, delays, backorders, etc. It really does suck because I have a very bad feeling DJI will release a new one shortly after I buy one!
As a ZMP owner (2 days only!) I have to agree with you. It's taken me 2 days just to get my first 5 minute test flight to 6 feet in my back garden and check that the camera actually works-ish. Firmware "non"-updates are a nightmare at the moment. It has potential though, when some of the bugs are ironed out.
Wow, a review that is completely honest. Was going to buy my first drone and this was going to the drone. But I'd rather have a drone that's been vetted and not waiting to fix all it's problems with firmware updates. Would rather spend my hard earned money on another drone... what that'll be, still looking. Thanks

Just waiting for my Hubsan Zino mini pro. I received my tracking number today. I also believe its going to get better. As they keep releasing new firmware updates. The other honest true is. This drone has very little it came out. And Hubsan been consisting releasing updates for it.
I wanted this drone, cuz I hate the flight restrictions on my Mavic Air. I luv my Zino Pro Plus but the range suks. And I hate the government telling me where I can fly my toy. Give us a 400 dollar drone that performs w no flight restrictions and you will rule the planet.
Good honest review....thanks. I have had 4 Hubsan products and all but 1 flew away or randomly dropped out of the sky within 20 to 30 flights. The last one is fine cause I don't fly it. They consistently make lousy products and this one is no didferent...and for more than the Mini 2? People must be nuts if they buy one.

My first good drone was a Hubson and it was great until it flew away lol. I think Hubson can come up with a good drone. Maybe now this drone but the next one or maybe some firmware could fix some things. I have the DJI mini 2 and it is must better! Quality drone! Very reliable. Thanks for the review mate. 👍
Mine should arrive any day now, I believe it has an almost I" sensor, (wonder is it a Sony) larger pixels and 48 m of them great when you need to crop or zoom , so theoretically it should produce much more detailed photographs say for printing than the mini 2 this is why I chose it, can you do a test and compare with DJI mini 2 or any more info on this (as I nearly bought the mini 2) Thanks Peter UK also do you think the hybrid zoom is a x2 optical, the rest digital.
At present, I would say that the Mini2 photos are better quality although why this should be with the Mini2's 1/2.3" sensor beats me. 'Hopefully' firmware updates will resolve this.
Shawn, thanks for the review; I did notice the horizon tilt in you review before your mentioned it; so far I have no regrets in not purchasing it. I believe, as of now, that it is overpriced as the features advertised are not currently there, as you mentioned.
Quite cool little bugger... hopefully the small bugs will be ironed out. Once sorted I believe it could be regarded as a step up from a Mini, even though it still lacks some refinement of the renowned brand.
I’m far away from home at a rare photo shoot, and the device insisted I update the firmware. I did and now I can’t fly because it requests that I use the proper controller. It also reports “SN code information is abnormal”. Of course there doesn’t seem to be any real-time help from Hubsan. I suppose I’ll have to wait until their Monday until I het any response. Nothing on their help menu mentions this issue. I was just flying successfully an hour earlier.
Thank you for an excellent review as a skydou pilot I was very keen on this Drone due to its weight. I think at this time it's not worth the cost for the quality issues you highlighted.
Excellent video, we also have this drone on our channel, I had no problem on the first flight, but the drone is warming up a lot and many Brazilians have had problems with falling

Saw a lot negative first impression for this drone. While few user suggest to wait Hubsan update about this to fix bug/issue and enhance the capability for this drone. I might interested for this drone but I think I should just wait DJI release Mavic Mini 3 instead, probably by end of this year or next year. Just bought Mini 2 basic and already love it! Though I planned to buy more battery & 3 way charger I feel like I might need second drone to buy as need to play it while cooling down Mini 2 after its flight per battery. 😅
I also have the mini 2 when I bought it it only came with 1 battery every time I flew it I was like man I need more batteries now I have 3 batteries and fly all 3 batteries back to back to back with no problems at all and im in Florida where its always in the 90s as far as heat goes so instead of buying another drone just get more batteries for your mini 2 trust me and you prob should get the 3 way charger so u can get them charged quick and get back out flying

Cant help about this because I played multiple RC and getting cool down from heat was one of my priority. obstacle avoidance is not such a big deal with tree trunks or large branches. What is of value is if he can navigate the tree foliage, that is where it matters.
Yeah I guess I’ll video when it’s compressed on RUclips can look decent but in reality it should be much better. However it still is much better than the Fimi mini LOL
Very good video. So supper disappointed on buy this Zino Mini Pro. It took 6 hours to calibrate because it overheats right away and gers USB disconnected. Sadly I bought it directly from husban so unable to return it being in Canada. Video is okay but my Mini 2 is 5 times better other than having all those other options. Main problem for me is the overheating issue and only do one battery flight coz by second battery you need to cool it down. Never husban again, for none geofencing I rather buy Autel Nano
The range is my deciding facto and geo zones . No matter how great the dji drones are the geo flight restrictions make them ridiculous. I can’t make the adult decision to fly my drone and take some pics from 15-20 feet off the ground in a restricted area that happens to be a mile from Some never used flight zone but I can be trusted to drive, own a gun, or handle chemicals that could all be used to kill many people. It’s stupid. Autel has been my go to and I love the evo 2 it’s almost too much drone for my purposes but I’m getting this too to try it out.
If the product is not ready then don't release it ! This drone is full of issues and its not cheap for its price. I am not a DJI fanboy too but the SE blew this type of Chinese drones out of the water and I wont waste time plus money buying them unless they start selling them for USD100 to USD150 then I might just consider.
Hubson can't fix it with wavy video. Despite the 3-axis gimbal, the image is still a wave of vibration. vibrating motor Affects the camera player. Very sorry. This disadvantage.
I have a couple of words to express to the Hubsan customers, that drone was rushed out to the people from the Hubsan company it still not ready yet, remember people there's a mini race now going on that its crazy and Hubsan rushed this drone out all cuz of them features they thought it was sweet but naaa don't you see all the defects that they still trying to fix in costumers hands it's not ready yet like the mavic mini or the mini 2 when it came out it was a solid drone yeah it had some firmware problems but it was fixed quickly with out any cables wireless baby and about them features whats new? I have a cheap drone sg906 pro that has all them features but Dji had them in the Dji spark long ago it's an old features now the rocket, boomerang, the 360 photo the quick shoot that the mavic mini and the mini 2 has now that was a new thing that Dji came out with. People don't buy this drone it's not fully done wait until everything is fixed or do what I did buy the Dji mini 2 and wait for the 3. Or buy the mini se it's better than this drone with out them stupid features come on People wake up.
Every other review of this drone is trying too hard to like this drone, but image quality and overall polish is just too poor in the current competitive landscape.
Why does Hubsan always roll out 'unfinished' drones to the market? It's just not good enough. I absolutely want DJI to have some competition, but Hubsan are far from it releasing bug ridden products.
I’m having the worst experience with a drone , my out of the box Zino mini just has so many issues , usb connection issues, sensor fault on my transmitor and the barometer error . To sum it all up Hubsan just seems not interested . Not bad for a €600 drone with zero flights !
The video is terrible with the background almost completely out of focus, with a drone supposedly with a inch and one third sensor plus 200mbps, I live as the crow flies about 2 thirds of a mile away from a television mast and when I'm flying I can see that in my monitor from that distance and see it clearly in the video but I'm sorry to say the video is rubbish, no disrespect to you but shoot the same scene with a M2P and see the difference. Such a shame for a highly promoted product.
Too much shaking the drone around like a big conductors wand. Would have been more informative to give us a view from every angle instead of stabbing it around in front of you from the same perspective.
Great video, but for my money i would buy a refurbished DJI Mavic Air or DJI Mini 2 & call it a day, Husban looks okay, but heat issues, bad video, crab walking, don't need the hassle, Husban back to the drawing board, thumbs down!!

Great review. I have a Mavic Mini and love it. Sure, obstacle avoidance would be awesome, but I would rather have great images.

If it's supposed to be a 40 minute battery, you should get 30 minute flights, not 25. I didn't see the video problems you were talking about.

As usual with Hubsan, we need to wait for the Plus version which would be exactly this, but will also work.

I would have preferred an SD card, but copying the video and picture files, from the ZMP is straightforward.
Yes indeed no memory card. Do you have to purchase the drone with either 64 GB or 128 GB and then that’s all you have

obstacle avoidance is not such a big deal with tree trunks or large branches. What is of value is if he can navigate the tree foliage, that is where it matters.

A drone that only has fixed memory ? What do you do when the memory is full ? Somehow download between flights? That is completely impractical.
Yes indeed, you can offload it or download it to mobile but a removable memory card is a much better solution
Looking at the specs it seems this drone only takes jpgs for still images and not RAW or RAW + JPG. This unfortunately is a deal breaker.
My ZMP takes RAW. Now I just need some GIMP add ons so that I can look at these 16mb files!

Very good video. So supper disappointed on buy this Zino Mini Pro. It took 6 hours to calibrate because it overheats right away and gers USB disconnected. Sadly I bought it directly from husban so unable to return it being in Canada. Video is okay but my Mini 2 is 5 times better other than having all those other options. Main problem for me is the overheating issue and only do one battery flight coz by second battery you need to cool it down. Never husban again, for none geofencing I rather buy Autel Nano

The range is my deciding facto and geo zones . No matter how great the dji drones are the geo flight restrictions make them ridiculous. I can’t make the adult decision to fly my drone and take some pics from 15-20 feet off the ground in a restricted area that happens to be a mile from
Some never used flight zone but I can be trusted to drive, own a gun, or handle chemicals that could all be used to kill many people. It’s stupid. Autel has been my go to and I love the evo 2 it’s almost too much drone for my purposes but I’m getting this too to try it out.
Guess I'll keep flying my Syma 5xc for awhile longer....
Typical Hubsan release. Over priced and full of bugs. Wait 6 months to a year and they will release a plus version and a $100 less.

If the product is not ready then don't release it ! This drone is full of issues and its not cheap for its price. I am not a DJI fanboy too but the SE blew this type of Chinese drones out of the water and I wont waste time plus money buying them unless they start selling them for USD100 to USD150 then I might just consider.
Hubson can't fix it with wavy video. Despite the 3-axis gimbal, the image is still a wave of vibration. vibrating motor Affects the camera player. Very sorry. This disadvantage.
I have a couple of words to express to the Hubsan customers, that drone was rushed out to the people from the Hubsan company it still not ready yet, remember people there's a mini race now going on that its crazy and Hubsan rushed this drone out all cuz of them features they thought it was sweet but naaa don't you see all the defects that they still trying to fix in costumers hands it's not ready yet like the mavic mini or the mini 2 when it came out it was a solid drone yeah it had some firmware problems but it was fixed quickly with out any cables wireless baby and about them features whats new? I have a cheap drone sg906 pro that has all them features but Dji had them in the Dji spark long ago it's an old features now the rocket, boomerang, the 360 photo the quick shoot that the mavic mini and the mini 2 has now that was a new thing that Dji came out with. People don't buy this drone it's not fully done wait until everything is fixed or do what I did buy the Dji mini 2 and wait for the 3. Or buy the mini se it's better than this drone with out them stupid features come on People wake up.

Every other review of this drone is trying too hard to like this drone, but image quality and overall polish is just too poor in the current competitive landscape.

Why does Hubsan always roll out 'unfinished' drones to the market? It's just not good enough. I absolutely want DJI to have some competition, but Hubsan are far from it releasing bug ridden products.

I’m having the worst experience with a drone , my out of the box Zino mini just has so many issues , usb connection issues, sensor fault on my transmitor and the barometer error . To sum it all up Hubsan just seems not interested . Not bad for a €600 drone with zero flights !
The video is terrible with the background almost completely out of focus, with a drone supposedly with a inch and one third sensor plus 200mbps, I live as the crow flies about 2 thirds of a mile away from a television mast and when I'm flying I can see that in my monitor from that distance and see it clearly in the video but I'm sorry to say the video is rubbish, no disrespect to you but shoot the same scene with a M2P and see the difference. Such a shame for a highly promoted product.

Too much shaking the drone around like a big conductors wand. Would have been more informative to give us a view from every angle instead of stabbing it around in front of you from the same perspective.
Great video, but for my money i would buy a refurbished DJI Mavic Air or DJI Mini 2 & call it a day, Husban looks okay, but heat issues, bad video, crab walking, don't need the hassle, Husban back to the drawing board, thumbs down!!
