The people complaining about video footage thought that they bought a professional drone for $200. That’s just silly, people need to manage their expectations.
A little disappointed, i was hoping to see a demo of the maximum range in wifi connection with the smartphone. Not a single youtuber has made a demo, and i have really spent hours searching. I know it is about 30 to 50 meters in theory but in practice i would like to see how the camera angle looks like up there.
I have the mini 1 with a camera fov angle extremely different (70-ish degrees?) so there’s no way for me to really understand the angle of this 120-ish degree camera angle at 30-50m
If the DJI goggles weren't so expensive I would consider getting a Neo. Flying it with a normal controller like this I think the Mini 3/4 is still a better choice
Dji googles + neo combo = near avata 2.. better buy avata , n next mont or 2 month later add neo.. Neo flight time really short 10min then back..(battery around 10 % auto rth)
I have had mine for a week and love it. I ordered the RC-3N controller. I can't wait to get it and really start flying this drone. Thanks for this video.
This is why I want this drone but with the fly more combo (which is way harder to get). To be able to fly it far away is one of the main reasons I want it
I mean you can get the drone now and it works with out even a smart phone or PC... something that is extremely rare for a device in the modern day... and just connect the remote letter when you can afford it or it goes on sale...
Nice to see someone do a range test. Definitely need to do again with clear line of site. As you mentioned,, trees are really bad for signal strength. Climbing to altitude uses a lot of battery so having a clear line of site may not require you to climb so high for a good signal.
@@bsdgffishtuna5186 i dont think you have the option to turn down sharpness in auto im pretty sure you need to use the app on phone but i think it makes a huge difference

Got mine today and first flew it indoors and was surprised that the noise level was fine, looking forward to testing it outdoors here tomorrow, I’m based in the UK. I’ve ordered the remote as I think it gives you far more flexibility…
I’m enjoying mine. I fly it FPV and it’s a blast, today I got 13mins flying 75% sport mode and 25%manual. BTW, who’s the skinny guy on camera? Good on you bud.
I bought the DJI Neo, but yesterday night after checking the individual price of the battery and controller, this morning returned the Neo to Amazon and bought a combo from Ontario from Vancouver to save PST(36 dollars). I did not use a drone before, but I know about it and saw it in the local shops a long time ago. after getting the combo(in 3-4 days) , I have to practice it on the sea beach of Vancouver or in the central park.
@@ayiechannel4500 the wind resistance is another challenge for such a tiny drone, stronger wind will tend to drain more battery, to me DJI should improve the image quality rather than boosting the transmission range, perhaps O2 is sufficient and then improve the camera to 20MP perhaps
I'm enjoying the neo as my first drone. I ended up ordering a controller because the range of the WiFi wasn't far enough. I've still spent less than I would have if I bought the fly more combo though.
Nice day for a little range test - emphasis on little! Curious if ypu could cover more or less distance using Sport mode. Typically you just kill the battery faster as it's less efficient. Maybe try one at a more open location less trees to absorb signal!
Watching here from Brazil, imagining two batteries in parallel. It would be extra weight but I believe it would still have a positive result! How heavy is a battery like this?
1:20 needless caveat. Technically under the same insane laws, flying ANY FPV drone what so ever with VR goggles (obviously including EVERY flight with an Avata) are also illegal. Because VR / Camera feed does not count as "visual line of sight". Frankly, dont even mention those laws, because they contradict everything.
I've never owned a drone before, but this would definitely be a fun to use drone for quick content creation. DJI are knocking it out the park over and over. Amazing. I watched another YT vid with it in follow mode and its AI Hazard Avoidance was amazing. It followed him through a wooded path dodging every branch and twig.
I'm not sure it has any AI obstacle avoidance (I've seen plenty of crashes). But it does seem to follow the exact path of whoever it is following...so for follow me videos from behind, it will likely always be good as long as the person isn't pushing through branches or whatever else

I’m looking forward to flying it! I do have the RC - N3 which I know I will be able to adjust the camera settings the way I want when it comes to sharpness, white balance, color, etc. thanks for the video. I was curious about the range.
Nice test but you were quick lucky. Return at 60% back at 32% - which means 40% battery for flying away, 28% for coming home. Seems to be some wind above. With wind going in the other direction and still returning at 60%, you'd have hardly been able to get back. Please do a WiFi range test. Wonder what the drone does when loosing signal.
The video quality leaves a bit to be desired but seems to be a spiritual successor to the DJI Spark at a third of the price, I miss my spark :) - I did manage better range on my Spark though.
Hi Shawn, I am in Ontario too and I did a range test recently and people are telling me that Canadians cannot fly beyond visual line of sight. I noticed in your video you said that we can when done safely. Do you have a source for that? Everything I find is telling me the opposite.
There’s no wording exactly that says you can. But the Canadian government looks at the sub 250 g drones differently. We don’t have to follow the same rules as drones above 250 g. The regulations just state that you must fly in in a safe manner and not put people or aircraft at risk kind of thing. So that means we don’t have to follow the traditional rules which means indeed beyond visual line of sight and higher than 120 m as long as you do it safe safely and not put anybody at risk. Definitely the larger drones must remain in visual line of sight.
On a sidenote, there’s a guy here on RUclips called Don drones on. He also has a Facebook group. He is a great resource for Canadian drone laws. He’s the one that makes the Canadian Drone Pilot app for where and where you can’t fly. If you have any questions definitely hit him up He’s very knowledgeable about all the regulations here in Canada.

I don't understand why most RUclipsrs don't capture in 1080p. I'm sure if you look at your analytics, a large percentage are watching on phones. I think the Neo would look better in a lower resolution and actually doing some post. I forget what channel i was watching, but the presenter actually did some quick and dirty fixes to the video and they really popped in comparison to the unedited videos. Another presenter did some indoor real estate flights to show how "bad" the quality was. Practically every comment was how great they looked.
I think I've seen many bad videos with awesome image quality and some awesome videos with lesser image quality.
And now there is this big 8K hype. I'm sure it will be awesome on my 360p RUclips app on my phone.
Ive run a few neo videos through lightcut and reduced the sharpness quite significantly, and for me it makes a big difference to the image. Id like to see of anyone else agrees.
That is interesting. I may give that a try.
Nice Video
But, worst scenario to start fly... under big trees.
Radio signal was, a lot attenuated.
If take off from that open field on the video, probably, range will do way better.
