    What do you struggle with most in your shots? Video reference? Lip sync? Creative choices, etc.? LET ME KNOW :D

    • @pkminpkmon
      @pkminpkmon 6 лет назад +5

      Sir Wade Neistadt Creative choices! Trying to figure out the best idea/gestures for an animation shot. I take so long to start animating because I’m afraid I’ll commit to a not very good idea, which has happened several times. If I think an idea has potential, briefly storyboard it, and after doing pre-vis for a few days you only then realise it sucks or isn’t that funny 😭 It stresses me as even if the animation turns out good, if it’s a boring concept it makes it harder to engage people.
      Any tip that helps overcome this?

    • @Guyfromtha619
      @Guyfromtha619 6 лет назад +2

      Creative choices for sure. It’s tough trying to get to that feature level. So many subtle things that are thrown into a character like pretty much keeping the eye brows alive barely ever keeping them completely still.

      @@pkminpkmon That is tough. Maybe before animating, u could get feedback from people to see if they like your idea

    5:29 I'd say a great example of that is that one Vine in which the Girl took audio from a scene of a mom and a little girl talkijg before she leaves for school and acted them both. The audio is really happy and wholesome, but the girl makes them act sarcastic and passive agressive and it's genous, it's so creative and really shows the power of movement during conversation

    Hello. Can you make a video about how you shoot and edit your reference videos for your animations? I mean how you plan the actions even when there are two characters in the shot?

    • @Drummer8nimation
      @Drummer8nimation 6 лет назад +1

      Should we explore acting choices with thumbnails first or with shooting references? I find shooting references for acting is quite tough but we get some subtleties from that, whereas thumbnailing i think sometimes i over plan the small actions

      Glad it helped! The 11 second club is a great way to improve your skills, but it also hits that issue of a ton of people using the same dialogue so it's kind of a double edged sword!

    One struggle I have is keeping moving holds alive. To make a pause in dialogue to allow the character to process something feel alive and natural. Without doing something over the top.

      Fritz FD yes I have the exact same problem myself! It's so hard to animate still poses, my characters always end up having this "dead" moment when they stop where they look frozen. It breaks the immersion and makes them feel less believable

      If you know how to use a daw that supports vst you could try downloading this vst called “alter ego” by French company plouge. One can write words in, choose the voice and timbre pitch all kinds of shit. It’s free, and takes some getting used to but it could work for ya? It’s more of a midi instrument than a text to speech but you can for sure emulate a female voice and likely get it close to what you would like to do with some time and settings stuff. I’m no pro but feel free to message me with ?s

    Thank you for the great advice when it comes to choosing dialogue to animate. Its very helpful.
    How exactly can one download or extract the audio you need from a youtube video?
    Most programs can take aiff or wav formats. Any recommendations for programs or websites to do this? We tried using recording devices but you sometimes get static in the recording. Which is not ideal for animating or reels.
    Either way thank you for sharing your knowledge :D :D

    Hey man,
    Tim from animation mentor told me to reach out to you for this question after I requested to get an opinion from a working student before moving forward. Here goes: I was wondering if animation mentor is worth the go if I decide I want to do 2d animation rather than 3d. I lean towards 2d just because that’s always the animator I imagined I’d be but who knows, I haven’t decided definitely if I’d work in 2d or 3d. Let me know please if animation mentor is worth the go considering the possible path change to 2d. Would the animation course help me with 3d as well as 2d?

    • @SirWade
      @SirWade  6 лет назад +3

      Hey man! I definitely think it's still worth doing- the things you learn at AM are 100% applicable to any medium of animation: 3D/2D/stop-motion/etc. I never would have considered doing any 2D because I'm not a very good artist, but I have no doubt in my mind that if I animated something today in 2D (and if we ignore my poor drawing skills) that animation-wise it would be pretty solid! Plus if you do AM and learn 3D, then you'll just have double the skillset than the rest of us! :) It's absolutely worth doing and it will teach you what you need to know for both 2D and 3D. I totally recommend it!

    • @SirWade
      @SirWade  6 лет назад +3

      And I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have about the program too! (You should definitely watch my video about my AM experience if you haven't, just in case that answers any repeat questions preemptively haha)

    How to deal with copyright? Please help me! How do I know I can use certain audios legally? I don’t want to animate something just to find out I don’t have rights to present the audio! Also, even if I’m not going to publish it, I’m afraid I look unprofessional by using something without permission.

    • @SirWade
      @SirWade  Год назад +1

      Copyright isn’t typically something to worry about when it comes to picking audio for animation if the goal is a demo reel or job application! You can really pick anything you like because you aren’t trying to monetize the audio, just transform it’s perception using your animation skills :) Just pick what you like, animate it, and if you’re really worried - make your reel an unlisted video so it’s not even public!
      *not legal advice*
