Really great work! My only feedback for a lot of the work here (and to anyone who wants a job in animation) would be to move the camera and show more of the body of the characters. The acting here is great, but at my old animation job, the number one reason we passed on demo reels because we couldn't see the whole body of the characters and/or the cameras or action wasn't dynamic enough. The medium-closeup with a locked-off camera style of shot has become an unfortunate staple of student work. Good acting animation is fundamental, but it's just one part of what we do. hello! the audio could actually not be further removed from what you'd expect. it's from House MD, season eight, episode 11. episode title is "nobody's fault". the audio is actually cleverly stitched from a woman defending Dr. House, and they added the ring sound effect. so it wasn't originally from a wedding. this is the original dialogue from the episode: "I know. I came to speak with Dr. House. And when they told me he was in here, /I thought I should say something/. I mean… he wasn't the nicest doctor I've ever met. But he was right. They found the tumor. They are removing it, and they are starting plasmapheresis. They expect a full recovery. He saved my husband's life. /Well… I guess that's it./ Thanks again."
As a past animation instructor one thing this animation showcase is missing is variety. If these pieces are all meant to resemble pixar animation then it's a huge success but otherwise, the students need to learn more animation styles for their future demo reels.
I thought the same thing, they all look like they were made by the same person for the same movie. There wasn’t any variety at all, even though there’s so many things you can do with 3D animation. Just look at movies like Rango, Into the Spiderverse, and Toystory and the vast variation just between those 3.
I’m pretty sure they get the character models and system for the project and use them to make their own scenes. The whole point Is to make a unique scene with the same tools as everyone else. The fact that their are so many different animations with different stories and different feels shows how creative these people are
That’s interesting because I was pretty focused on that (as well and some of the movie sound bytes that don’t really work well with the 3d Pixar style) but halfway through I reminded myself that these are animators and that the movements are the main focus of these projects. It makes me wonder if when you say they’re missing variety and resembling Pixar animation are you mostly referring to the actual animation? If these people didn’t create all the assets themselves and were just given these Pixar style characters isn’t this the obvious way to animate them? Maybe this school is focused on that style. Did you teach 3d animation I wonder how different it is to do a school for 3d animation vs just a school about animation in general there’s so much to learn

The animation movement is much better than the big budget films we see (i.e Illumination). This is amazing. It's crazy how good 3D animated humans look now. I remember in the early days, studios like Pixar avoided rendering humans because of how hard they were to animate, so they would focus on toys or monsters.
5:35 is one of my favourite it looks so smooth
0:28 Florian Linet it's outstanding, I love it.
Amazing job, good luck to all students.
I am thoroughly impressed by every one of these animations! I only accidentally stumbled across this, and I am glad I did.
I did get especially emotional at the scene where the lady asks "How do I look?". The second of true appreciation that the husband found is absolutely heartwarming.
1:56 I don't know,how to express my feelings...
I love how each one of these scenes seem to have a background story that could lead to something bigger
These genuinely made me cry 😭 some of these are so touching
Honestly I think Danny Park made an amazing job in those two reels, especially the second one, I felt as if I was watching a real movie. Very talented animator honestly.
1:24 that hit *way harder* than I thought it would
I’ve really wanted to start taking digital animation classes!! Marcus De Andrade is so good!!! The wavy movement, the camera following the characters, the dreamy atmosphere. It’s perfect.
Great work everyone. Nicolas Copete's scene is my favorite. Great flow, rhytm and stong poses and tight expressions, authentic pauses and no overacting or floaty gestures.
Congratulations to all of the talented animators that made these. I loved every single one of them. 3D animation is awesome 👏
All of these are good, but y'all are sleeping on Florian Linet's! Absolutely incredible animation. Esp the interaction between the two characters, the resolution of the emotion at the end. The entire thing - just blown away by how incredibly realistic without going over-the-top it is. Really great job.
6:28 so obsessed with this. she's overflowing with personality lol.
All of these could be turned into full length movies! They’re so good!!
Another wonderful showcase! And holy crap, 4:35 was dark!
dang all the animations this year where really emotional, great job students!
It's all fun and inspiring until you remember how much days (if not weeks) of work 1 second of these takes at average. I can only admire your patience guys!
I find it so funny how after 2:31 you put the homeless kid 😂
me to lol
I wait for these every year!
I feel like 6:42 is pretty underrated, nobody talking about it.
All of these works deserve credit. Everyone did an amazing job! Not a single thing out of place.
The sand does burn
the animation and voice acting is FIRE!!!! well done!!
Would love to see a full version of the Key & Peele animation. Some really expressive animation throughout this video!
Omg, it’s Charles and Nikolaj from b99. I love that 6:14
incredible work, congrats to the students! you guys are definitely industry ready!
it's so strange to see such a familiar animation performing very powerful scenes. It's truly inspiring.
Great work from everyone as always!!🥳👏Congrats to all those in the showcase and it’s an honor to be included this year! ❤
Oh My God, love your work. Especially the movement and expression of the female actor, it's so good. Will definitely study that clip.
@@rilijohnmichael aw thank you so much! if you have any questions about that shot just lemme know 😄
I like that contrast between fancy colorful graphics and heartbreaking adult stories. It gives some special vibe
