    These are troopers. Not expecially outstanding in anything other than their ability to do most things you'd need 8 years on, but that's what makes them excellent machines.
    And of course they're built exquisitely, as if carved from stone.

    I have one of these 11 inch units. I can't tell you how useful it is. It's the lightest and easiest laptop I've ever owned. I love it. 2.2 pounds. I seconded that it's also easy to repair.

    I recently bought this as a secondary laptop, last week. I did own one of these back in 2012. i5, 8GB, 128 SSD for $125. I really enjoy this form factor.

      Personally i find the 11 inch a very ideal sized netbook. I too got a 2012 model but with i7 8GB RAM and 512 GB SSD for around $220. I am able to have a dual boot setup thanks to the large SSD size. The bezels are huge for 2023 for sure, but you get used to it and eventually you wont notice it as you will be more immersed in the screen in front of you.

    I purchased the 2015 MacBook Air 11 inch 4gb 128ram in Fall 2015. It has an incredible form factor and good functionality. I have MacOS Monterey. It was my primary personal computer for the last 9 years. I just bought the 2020 M1 MacBook Air 13 inch 8gb 256ram on sale for $699 in April 2024. I'm keeping the 2015 MBA for back-up use. It is a good photo storage laptop.

    I just got this machine for my collection the model I got is 2014 11.6 I'm absolutely amazed how well it runs for such an old laptop with only 4gb of ram. Definitely a great purchase for a less power hungry user. I plan to use this machine for home automation control and also some embedded device programming like Arduino and raspberry pi. I was thinking that I will need linux to get decent performance but this is definitely not the case.

    It's a neat computer, but I and many other folk have difficulty seeing what's on those small screens, I have an old Dell Inspiron 9400 which has a 17 inch screen and that is okay, but any smaller than that is a struggle to use.

      Oh yeah, I don’t blame you at 11 inches. Yeah the MacBook Pros of 2006-2011 had 17 inch options which were glorious at the time…

      @@montaguebarnabasltd I have checked out those 17 inch Mac pro laptops on Ebay and I like the designs, but some of them have graphical problems which I have heard was quite common and they all still command higher prices than an equivalent pc laptop. I did see one early Mac pro which is in splendid cosmetic condition and it works, but the processor is a core duo and it can only handle 2 gig of ram., so I did not bother with it, a suitable one may come my way sometime.

Kitchen and bedroom etc. We both have M1 laptops but aways seem to fighting over the use of the 2015 Air 😄. Its still a very cool machine. A bit of secret Gem I reckon!

    Is this MacBook Air Core i7 slower than today's flagship smartphones?

    • @montaguebarnabasltd
      @montaguebarnabasltd  2 месяца назад

      Broadly, yes. Smartphones are really good at single core performance, but not great at things like memory bandwidth and multitasking with multiple cores.
      The new iPhone would definitely beat it across almost the board though…
