:) Fun fact: The first Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble ever made has been listed on Reverb for a million dollars some days ago! :D www.musicradar.com/news/boss-ce-1-chorus-ensemble-one-million-dollars-first
Chorus pedals are the best honestly. You can do so much with them. From creating a very classical riff to just soothing freestyles. Its truly astonishing.
Thank you for making this video and sharing your talent and knowledge. The stereo approach with 2 amps is really impressive! I am relatively new to electric guitars and did not know about this amazing sound! Also I have been to the Lake Constance area a few times and did some running on the trails by the lake, beautiful place and great people.. it was hot it the summer time.
When you added the stereo I suddenly saw the light! Got a nice chorus pedal last week and I’ve been searching for how to use it. I understand the controls but just wasn’t getting that lush depth you got here.
Love your playing, creative approach and the experience you gladly share from which we all benefit Mike. Thanks from Simon in Australia. Even we have been watching the weather in Europe and thinking that's pretty hot mate! But your videos are always cool! Cheers.
That Black Beauty 3 PU Les Paul Custom is absolutely gorgeous. And it sounds brilliant with the Chorus pedal. Many of us older players usually associate the Chorus pedal effect with single coil pickups a la Fender Stratocasters - the glassy signature sound of the 1980s. But you clearly demonstrate how an LP style guitar with humbuckers can produce a very heavy lush Chorus tone which sounds wonderful in its own right. Cheers from the Land Down Under.
Thank You so much Mike. Just superb all round...presentation, sound quality, playing/teaching skill, all wrapped up in a brilliant sharing humble knowledgeable approach. Learnt a lot fast, just subbed and won't be going anywhere else for great Chorus tone search et al. Great inspirational stuff. Ronnie Rollo.
The more common recommendation lately is to put modulation and time-based effects in the effects loop...unless, like me, you play through a head that has no effects loop 🙂
Rush used it a lot with the distortion to thicken the sound.. Rush openly admitted being influenced by the Police, who pretty much popularised it.. Since both of those bands were trios, modulation effects like the Chorus, Phaser and Flangers, helped the guitar to fill up sonic space.. However, it seems that the Chorus works better with single coil guitars. Because it makes the sound thicker as you say..Each time I hear Andy summers on those old records, with his moded tele, it has enough definition. Even when it's mixed with gain.. It sounds just perfect..
Whoa, 3-dimensional sweat! That’s something which Andre DeToth didn’t conceive of. I have nothing but appreciation for anyone who’s game to instruct the music world how to include a chorus generator, ever since I bought my first amp, a Fender Princeton-Chorus, subsequently learning about the Roland JC120 upon which the circuit in your CE-5 is likely based, Heir Burn, and the Tom Scholz Rockman units bolstering a similar chorus circuit. I always thought that a direct signal would produce some extra noise. Wouldn’t the effects loop serve to eliminate the noise? If more *American* musicians composed, released and promoted music the way you do, Mike, it could more likely squeeze out the manufactured stuff that’s dominating the charts today.
Mr. Burns !!.. nice to see you !! This approach is wonderful.... thanks to you for great information.... and in case you haven't seen or heard of the plug in "Blue Cat's Axiom"... I highly recommend it.. Martin Miller has a great video on it on his channel... thanks from Idaho, USA
Great instructional video, thank you. Lots of great advice. I'm new to chorus (just learning guitar after switching from bass), and I wonder if running stereo out to 2 inputs on the same amp would still preserve the definition.
Great video. The 2 amps with chorus gives a huge sound. I like the song you play at the end of video. Is it German Dog Music from one of your other videos?
James, thanks for chiming in and congrats to your LP Custom! You were close with your guess :) I have left a clue in the video when I show the delay settings. Do you find it? *KeepingTheTension*

The stereo tone blew me away! Hope to try this one day with two amps. Having the dry amp makes a massive difference honestly. Thanks!
I just found Mike here on RUclips and really like your reviews and tutorials. Keep 'em coming sir!

Billy Gibbons used chorus to make a more dynamic sound in the early days. I think their producer Bill Ham suggested it.
Always love visiting your videos 🎶
🎶Great stuff!🎶
Thank you very much for making this video. Very helpful and informative!
Back again to watch this, love your posts fella, when is your next one?

Reminds me alot of Alex Lifeson's tone in the 80's.

I'm ashamed, I didn't recognise any of the anonymous guitar players I was supposed to recognise.
