The uniter also reminds me a lot of Nobunaga considering he united the culture by being an early adopter of firearms. Also the dress is more Mayan than Aztec, the Mehixca didn't really wear feathered crowns.

Excellent. Glad to see some aztechy stuff that isn't some patronizing one-with-nature nonsense; and shows that people are clever and will use any technology and advantage they can find to get to the top! The Incan and Aztecs were empires in every way - I have no doubt if they'd gotten the tech a little earlier to craft and smelt iron, this is exactly what we'd have seen! ❤
What do you mean "that aren't just losers"? Are Native American-inspired factions always depicted like that? I've seen quite a few that were fairly well depicted.
Ikr? I just discovered this and it looks awesome af cant wait to see what they do with it. Gunpowder Aztecs goes hard Deffo inspiring me with my own worldbuilding stuff too now haha
The art, the storytelling, the LORE!!!! THE ART!!!!.... Its all so amazing and im left wishing there was a book trilogy to cover this amazing and fresh world!! Aside from Warbreaker i know of no other fantasy world that takes so heavily from Aztecian lore or design! Its a part of our world i wish we saw further explored and appreciated. Im so glad you make these videos, this SUNGOD WORTHY ART. and share it all with us
A good book trilogy inspired by all sorts of native american cultures is "La saga de los confines" by Liliana Bodoc! There are mesoamerican inspired cultures as well analogues to south and north american cultures. Highly recommended. Btw i'm not sure if it's in english
YOU HAVE STEPPED UP YOUR GAME SO MUCH! I love the designs, thinking process and deep clear lore, which honestly is too thin in a lot of other lore building projects! Please keep exploring the lore and other different cultures in this world! I want to hear about the other nations ( not just the main 2 ) within this world! I would love a deeper look at smaller elements of each culture too, the armies, the workers, the farmers and even the architecture ( maybe collectively, maybe individually! ). This format is in my opinion highly worth the effort, it helps the world feel so much fuller than smaller snit bits of information that are hard to piece together in the long term!
while watching the video, I thought. That it couldn't possibly become better. Then the quality and art just kept climbing and climbing. Some of the drawings were only on screen for a few seconds, but the sheer detail and quality is astonishing. The way you made that... I don't know the word for it. Its the skull, table, sword, gun, and the armor. It's fantastic. You didn't need to draw it, but you went that extra step and made those beautiful objects around the other drawings. I especially like the decorated skull and the sword. Treelancer this is AMAZING.
This is like:" What if the Aztec had gun powder" thing. To be honest, im very impressed on how much you had researched to make this faction. Every aspect from design, history, politic of this faction is just like that the Aztec irl or what the Aztec could have been. It just really amzing. P/s i love the faceless war god and the faceless army, they are just so cool. They also give me the same vibe as they irl counterpart.
Please do more of these covering the day-to-day life of this faction or even other cultures of this amazing continent! This is the best, most beautiful, and respectful depictions of fantasy Aztecs (more accurately known as Mexicas) I have ever seen. It's refreshing and much needed representation of cultures that are often left out or caricatured in mainstream fantasy. Needless to say, you have made my day. Thank you!
Thank you! Well, Aztecs were a group of several peoples, the Mexica being one of them, and the dominant one at the time of the Spanish conquest. Hecaxians are a sort of mix of a lot Mesoamerican peoples, with some fantasy stuff thrown in, and their development extrapolated to the iron/gunpowder age. It bothers me that most depictions of Mesoamerican-inspired civilizations are stuck in the stone age, even if they somehow also have alien tech lol thank you for the comment again!
This was incredible, the presentation really reminded me of the cut-scenes from Age of Empires 2. in spite of the format being demanding, the effort truly showed! This was phenomenal!
Here from Monster Garden community post. Absoluteky love your art and word building. I see a drawing of a conquistador in the background and a mention to an empire where the sun never sets. Intrigued as to what you will do with the conquista. Perhaps a reversed timeline where the South American empire colonized Europe? Lol me encanta tu trabajo!
This is amazing! Holy hell. I love the traces of the familiar, but being taken in a wonderfully realized new direction! Im so hooked in this project, and you a re a massive inspiration to the rest of us world builders!
The artworks, the layout, editing and presentation, the research, writing, your voiceover work, the design and vibe of the whole lore. I'm in absolute awe of the INSANE amounts of work and can feel in every detail that you care about the project. Fingers crossed for balancing out the workload and figuring out the process of pushing the project and outputs in a proper way! You're really on to something really special!
I only had time to skim through this (will watch later) but holy fuck this is exactly what I've always wanted, and actually close to something I've been implementing in my own setting.
I think this video had an amazing impact, I assumed this video would be another piece of the greater lore of the story but what I got instead was an immersive, visually stunning movie and my mind immediately began to live and breath in this new world. I could see it being played as some sort of interactive game but I was in love with every second of the video. I wish there is more frequency of updates not because of impatients but because I just want more and every time I watch one of these videos I'm left thinking "whats next?" so either way I'm a happy fan of this unique story. By the way your pastel/ textured art style weather intentional or not is perfect for the visuals and environments you create I'm in love with your art. (ps. how do you draw crowds like that they look both busy but not too busy its amazing)
good video, as a Spaniard and interested in the history of my country, it seemed like a unique way to inspire you in the history of the conquest of America, leaving you with the basic ideas that, depending on who tells it, put the other as heartless monsters . but taking aspects of each other and fusing them to create something unique. I apologize for the mistakes, I am dyslexic, thank you for reading it.
GDI It's so cool to finally see some good ass Mesoamerican fantasy!!! I'm currently writing a novel (in spanish) called Senderos de Sangre (Paths of Blood) that I plan to publish next year with a local editorial (it would be my third book, first one is Ápohnin, a gunpowder fantasy book in a world where only women have magic, and my second book is currently in the edition process) Your video has given me a lot of inspiration for the development of some aspects of my world, specifically how my mesoamerican faction would have employed gunpowder, which is something I already stablished would have happened. Keep up the good work!
I'm working on a meso american sword and sorcery novel and I'm taken aback how similar this is to a faction I have written about, to see it illustrated so similarly to what I imagined, I'm not even upset at all it's just amazing how well you have done this. I am blown away. I hope to see more of this from you. Hopefully someday my works are published and you can see them too.
The quality! It was a pleasure to watch. Instead of wasting time on describing in more detail how much I enjoyed it, since more eloquent viewers already did so better than I could, I'll just watch it a couple more times.
Got a hell of a way of telling a story. The amazing art backed by your narration and music as well as sound effects. Very nicely done. Looking forward to more from you, keep up the good work!
Just found your channel and I've got to say, this is an absolute gem of a worldbuilding project. Excellent work on the videos so far, and stunning art! Keep those videos coming!

I love this especially because far too often people think firearms have no place in fantasy. This is a perfect fusion of fantasy and historical authenticity
It appears I needed this aesthetic in my life, and I didn't know it till now. This is such a great idea it needs to be more common. I especially love the world building that the empire's expansion stymied because the neighbors adopted the tactics and technology. That is so true to history, but few fantasy authors note it in their worlds.
Making the god of war faceless is such a really cool touch. I love the incorporation of Mayan and aztec influence, as well as the incorporation of firearms
This is a great narration, you're really amazing. I believe no one can do this without a lot of effort put into their referencing. This is inspirational ❤ (your narration also sounds much like Avatar The last air benders intro)

This feels straight out of Warhammer Fantasy. The art is really good, and it's refreshing to have a fantastical take on Native American cultures that isn't portraying them as some proto-hippies.

Absolutelly amazing video, toda la parte artistica del proyecto es alucinante, absolutamente apasionante y muestra tu nivel como artista, amazing story-telling, I'm fully invested into this story you have created and cant wait for more, and finally, me parece super cool que este proyecto tuyo este tan basado en la cultura latinoamericana y incaica, absolutamente brillante y una cosa que no se ve siempre. Love from a fellow latín-american 💙
In Nahuatl (and many other indigenous languages that adopted the Spanish alphabet), the letter ‘x’ is pronounced like the English ‘sh’, as medieval Spanish did the same. Of course, you may already be aware of this and have decided the fantasy language wouldn’t do that for aesthetic purposes- I just figured you might want to know
yup! I don't speak Nahuatl but I'm aware of some of the pronunciation differences, that said, Hecaxian might borrow root words or similar syllables, being inspired by Nahuatl, but I decided to keep the pronunciation and complexity simpler, or more similar to the international pronunciation of letters, to have it be more accessible and less confusing for a broad, hopefully international, audience. Its also not really a Conlang since that is not really my forte haha. Thanks for the tip though!
