honestly speechless at the quality and writing of this. More people HAVE to see this, and I hope this project succeeds in whatever way you wanna take it.
Thank you so much Simon, it already has so many eyes on it in large part because of your generous sharing of it, thank you for the kind words and I will reiterate this, it exists at all in this form in large part because I found your channel last year and got inspired haha. Cheers mate! C:
U really have spearheaded a brand new age of fictional writing combined with lore-packed illustrations and following of in-world logic. Amazing work to Monster Garden!
@Tree.lancer Okay, I finally got to finish it, WHOA.... dude... this was beyond what I was expecting from you! I remember in your first essence video, you said you'd talk about the vines in more detail in the future, but THIS REALLY took me by surprise!! The idea is that not only was it a sentient creature/"monster," but it had been subjugated and domesticated into the vines we see in the modern age of mechs and machinery! I thought that the vines were simply a "natural magical phenomenon." I never considered that they were a natural creature... that literally eats essence!! (Totally metal btw) It all just makes so much sense now... and I'm blown away by the clever deep thought lore you've created. It doesnt at all feel like you're making this up, it actually feels like lore that we could discover in our own (mystical) world. The idea of mechs and essence feels just a bit more tangible, and I love it!!! 🎉❤
From creepy, parasitic plants, to monks learning to control it, to those who remained after rebellion using their knowledge to make the first tree mechs. Damn what a story! Loved it all, great work as always. The art, storytelling and music were all fantastic. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next Treelancer video already!
This is such a cool bit of backstory! I love the parallel to Mendel's peas - i.e., Monk gets bored and starts to experiment with breeding plants, leading to unforeseen insights. Intentional or not, it definitely shows how close this is to what actual historical monks would do with their free time! Also, it foreshadows awesome story beats in the future - where we could find a last surviving splinter of the formerly great monk order in an old derelict ruin, and then proceed to witness their mythical understanding of the vines first-hand!
I normally don´t write comments, but wow this video was great! This is exactly the type of worldbuilding I love and try to do. So plausible and "rooted" ;) in our own history and, in this case, biology but with this little fantastic touch that changes the whole aestethic while still being logical.
TY! It was something I long wanted to go into, as the concept is such a weird one when you think about it haha, why would the vines work this way? it was bothering me for a while, but happy with the reasoning I came up with Cx
Woah! This is some amazing lore for an aspect of the world building I basically took for granted. I love the explanation as to how the vines of the mechs were developed!
Ok man I am bingewatching your channel. This is amazing. I love how you draw and I reeeeeeeally really dig all the lore. And the presentation is top notch, with the book, and the goldleaf texture for the energy, and the quality of the art. That's almost too much! Very thoughtful and high quality stuff :D
@@Tree.lancer Question, Is there other culture in vines of war world that has tame animals that uses essence thus allowing them to become with the animals, like in Avatar??
This is amazing! I love the idea of actively hostile agricultural pests being used for cultural purposes and combining it with advancements in society is genius! The art style is incredible, the background is beautiful, and the storytelling is great! Cannot wait to see more.
The history of these monks both sound suitably epic, folkloric and entirely realistic (aside from the magic plant elements of course lol) Bloodly well done! Are there any old-school practitioners or revivalists hidden about the place nowadays or is that a tradition completely lost to history?
What a cool history! Briliant construction of the origin of such a unique concept. The selective breeding and subsequent holy war gives an excellent sense of age to the world.
This aspect of your world building is absolutely astonishing, the story of the Vohun feels so real that it could have happened yesterday (not chronologically, but you’ve got the point). Feels like a story to be written on paper, I would absolutely devour a book about the peril of the Vohun.
Super interesting. I wonder what other Essence-feeding monsters exist in this world? Like some form of vampire or revenant that goes around and drains it from other creatures.
When I first saw this I thought they were grafted into the monk’s spine. Now I imagine a worm like parasite that burrows into you and resides in the bones of a person
Your background for telling us this incredible lore is so meticulously done I keep getting lost in it and have to go back and relisten to what I've missed lol. Never stop. Absolutely stunning artwork.
Really like this, but I think there should flesh mechs has an answer to the vine mechs or some form of essence-enhanced equipment. Technological races are usually a thing, I don't think other ppl would just sit around and let one country take the forefront.
Sure, vines would start to propagate to other countries, unless they objected to their use and had their own answers to the mechs, like Hecaxe and it's soul engine machinery, which is something I need to expand upon on a future video :)
@Tree.lancer Nice, but it shouldn't be similar to Plantbois. Hecaxe have soul engines (everyone seems to have low-tech guns which is cool) but what about western countries they got their guns from? These guys are seeing Aztecs with magic armour with rifles, Vine Mechs with strong industry, how would they react? Would they try to go into checmical warfare, really try for alchemy or would they try to emulate vine tech but substitute plant material for meat? I don't want to seem pushy or anything, your work is really cool and it got me thinking is all.
I remember why I am subscribed to this channel. _Such_ detail, depth, and storytelling mastery in less then 10 minutes of a video. All based on a single vine based idea! I am blown away, and I really do hope you get far more recognition than you have already, because my God this is amazing stuff!
This channel is going to be huge one day. Don't stop doing what you do! The way a video of barely 10 minutes has me enthralled more than a video of hours would is indescribable
This is so so so cool as always Manuel, and seeing how they originally came into being is so interesting, I also love the range of individuals in this video, so awesome
i love this. worldbuilding is such an incredible thing, it almost brings me to tears! thanks for sharing these with us, it is greatly appreciated that you'd let us revel in the delight of consuming delicious fantasy like your creations :3
beautiful video, but I was left with some questions, these monks if they are able to control the vines and manage to re-establish their essence through meditation do not in fact become one of the most powerful "civilizations" in the world as they manage to control the vessels of what is essentially the magic of this world, or perhaps they are simply magicians of sorts who study these vines for pure research purposes. I understand that since there are only a few of them left, they don't pose much of a threat but they still remain incredibly powerful. If I misunderstood something, don't hesitate to correct me, I'm very open to any opinions or clarifications❤❤
This is getting better every video. I'm creating a low fantasy world myself, and a wargame/rpg with it. I don't know your personal process...while mine is more generalistic on factions, magic and culture because I need to leave space for the Rpg aspect, I tend to focus more on the armies, in order to give fuel for the wargaming. With all that said, I must admit that you're such a creative person, the details and lore behing one single aspect (vine control), so many branches(😂) pop up, making it feel so plausible e believable. Keep up the good work my friend! Hope all the best, and take your time, you're giving us treasure, so keep your "essence" in healthy levels!
Really sweet artwork my guy. Love the concept too. The factions seem well established when it comes to distinct themes and styles that flow really well. Don't suppose you have plans on making a table top game RPG or wargame? Would be thrilling to see your world come to life in a group setting.
Nice work man! Loved the illustrations/designs as well as the lore! And those short formats are perfect for me. Also the visuals remind me of Age of Empires II campaign intros, super cool :D Anyway Keep it up!
this is so great, it feels so welll-thought through, and there is so much potentil. Love they way you think abot how society as a whole woul change as well. Looking forward to the next one. :9
If a speaker of proto Indo-European learned English and kept his accent this is what he would sound like (this is a compliment btw) also very interesting and unique world building I've never thought of biological mechs before and it's pretty brilliant
I don't know it it has been asked before, but have you thought of making or adapting a ttrpg for this world? i would love to see this world interactable in any way really.
many times! And the answer is, yes! Minis as well just gotta flesh out the world more and get enough "funding" to make it a sustainable job so I can focus on other aspects of the setting Cx

I came for fantasy mechs and stayed for the worldbuilding and lore
there hasn't been enough about the mechs lately for sure... aim to fix in that in the next video or 2!
@@Tree.lancer I will be waiting
Absolutely glorious lore. As a biologist and an archeologist this sort of creative domestication is fantastically plausible
awesome! love to hear someone with actual credentials validate my ramblings! x'D
@@Tree.lancer To add more credentials to validate your ramblings: as a historian, I have to give you credit for how realistic and plausible this was.

If you think about it the vine actually succseeded in it's goal. It is now spread ynd cultivated by many people, ensuring it's survival.
What a fantastic power source for a fantasy "soft exosuit"!
HE RETURNS!!!!! Barley started and absolutely thrilled to see Essence creatures!!!
Thank you Kailanerman! happy you like it C:
