      I agree. I personally think an accent makes one’s personality even more distinct, especially in my own (and I guess many other’s) feed in which ‘international’ content is mostly native English speakers. I am personally studying in an international environment and I love the accent diversity

    • @jacksands3403
      @jacksands3403 10 месяцев назад +4

      @pablopandocchi I'm probably a bit biased because I'm from a very rural part of England and have an accent you don't hear so much on young people now. You'd be surprised how nasty people can be about even native accents. I've been called an inbreed, bumpkin, thick. Mind you, I did enjoy thoroughly confusing the kinds of people who say that when I went down to London for the first (and only) time 😂😂

    The marks on the pilots back are a nice touch.
    Maybe they could develop some condition if they used the mech to much or to hard.

    Regarding the mother vine or the Sensory Root, having it wrap around the back of the head would make an interesting choice, this area of the brain is dedicated to sight, as well as forcing the pilot to have a shaved back of the head, would create a sort of fashion or style that is unique to pilots. A class based thing or something that marks them out from the crowd.

    • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  5 месяцев назад +10

      very good speculations
      not necesarily shaved, but cropped so the root doesnt tangle too much, over time the vine and the pilot become "attuned" or used to each other, the vine creating specific patterns on the skin oof the pilot and creating slight scarring/discoloration of the skin around the face.
      This is the mark that distinguishes vineplate users, but specially mech pilots. and since they are held in high regard its become a fashion in some areas to get light face tattoos with similar patterns, while other find them distasteful, kinda like stolen valor but not penalized.

    My favorite parts of mech animations are often the donning/entering and bot up sequences. The steps that take statues to mobile demigods of war or titans of construction. This is PERFECT info for a nerd like me!
    I love to think of a Commonwealth Dockyard, with pairs of operators actuating big vine powered cranes, lifing one of these mechs up and out of the hold of a barge, its Operator watching on as they rest up for the next part of the march.

    for in & out system, what if the butt & back thighs of the tree mech also open up & since it's magic? It can close up perfectly while the exterior still protected/reinforced with steel armor. Meanwhile the back legs can have plate armor with small ladder ridges for easy/mobile mount, like mounting a horse. Also, I think the mage pilot still need a head pad too because the helmet clearly without any padding. the chainmail seems rather unnecessary since it could easily replace wholly with plates as it's not a human body but a whole tree .

    Would love to see how these mechs are used. Are they war machines? Are they used by builders for work or other civilians? Are there tools are weapons created specifically for these mechs? What is the appeal for actually using a mech? (other than they are cool as shit)

    • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  Год назад +2

      Mechs are definitely war machines, the plate and weight make them too inefficient for daily and non war use, there is a cost to the magic system after all (coming in the next video!)
      however the vines are very flexible (ba dum tsss!) and there are other contraptions used in daily life, for work/ transport etc. even other war applications that aren't to the level of an armored mech.
      however their weapons are the same as they were used in the early modern period, just scaled up.
      Mostly polearms since it makes the most sense, and they are relatively cheap to produce at that size (and they tend to break their weapons semi regularly)
      The reasoning behind using vine-mechs is the same as fielding full plated knights in the middle ages or early tanks up to 11, extremely hard to create and field, but a very scary concentration of power in a small area, and hard af to take down since they have enough armor thickness to protect them from the early firearms of the period, and even small cannon if it hits them where the plate is thickest, but more on a later video!
      Thank you for the insightful questions! you inferred quite a bit from just 2 short videos :D

    I would be interested to see more kinds of mech like this. The ones drawn here would be infantry/heavy infantry I think. But perhaps there would be other kinds, like one that resembled a centaur. Being used as giant heavy cavalry, maybe because of the extra limbs it takes more magic/essence to operate or it creates problems for longtime pilots of them, since the new neural pathways in their brains for making the 6 limbed quadrupeds walk might overwrite and/or interfere with their ability to walk while out of the mech, causing them to require walking aids or wheelchairs after years (or however long) of use. Keep up the good work 👍.

    I love your workdbuilding ideas and want to give some of my thoughts about them.
    Why does a pilot have to climb so high up? Maybe it would be easier to get inside if the armor was lying face down on the ground or sitting on some sort of high step.
    It also makes sense for the armor elements to have metal pins or hinges that penetrate through the wood fibres, and thus hold more firmly.

    • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  8 месяцев назад +1

      I mostly didnt want to have to draw a different pose
      and the vines are connected to the inner "skeleton" within the mech, more than to the armor, since the latter is meant to be replaceable
      Thank you for the comment!

  • @carlos.daniel.santmaria5477

    Another thing you could imprement is rock and plant/wood golems( not very original very I think it fits your setting). They would not be as strong or as versatil the metal mechs but they could be made in case no armor is avialable.
    But they would need to have some disanvantages.
    Such as:
    -Being heavier/ Slower than the metal mechs.
    -Not as strong as the metal mechs.
    -Require more energy and mantain to make on the spot than to form the muscle vines of the metal mechs.
    -The pilot is more exposed than on the metal mechs.
    Or things like that.

    Just discovered your channel so i dont know if this was discussed in another video but a cool idea just popped into my head. One staple of mecha has gotta be some dramatic explosions right? So i thought a fun equivalent to that for the armor would be that the tree would go rampant and "explode" out in different directions, distending the armor in horrifying ways. A battlefield post battle would be a macabre forest

    I know I'm late to the party, but an interesting way to go go about controlling these tree-lancers could be through some form of magically assisted fungal symbiosis. For context in our world its been shown that in many forests mycelial networks can act as a network that connects many trees to each other allowing for a form of pseudo communication through the use of chemicals. So in this case what if pilots infected themselves with a magically produced fungus that allows them to interface with a fungal network inside the mech that acts as a sort of nervous system?

    • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  8 месяцев назад +1

      trust me, I considered it, there's also smaller yellow vines that connect trees to each other and help them communicate at the crown level that I explored, they would have 2 vines, "the muscle" and "the nerve" I'm still unsure if I should go that way. maybe the "root vine" is just grafted on
      However it complicates a bit the worldbuilding, and the aesthetics I want to have.
      we'll see however, thank you for the suggestion!

    I love how you've done the mech but the weapons seem very small comparatively. Wood and cellulose based organics are very strong, so you could make the entire weapons including the shaft metal, Also the medieval age did have gunpowder weaponry. I dont know if you would like to add that into your world but that could be something that could help inspire you.

    • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  8 месяцев назад +1

      oh don't worry gunpowder is part of the setting
      This is not a medieval work, but at the time of the story some technology like guns will be in the early-modern period stage.
      Some mechs will make heavy use of gunpowder weapons, mostly in sieges, but some are purely melee, mostly because they wouldn't have the manual dexterity to reload weapons by themselves on the field.

Ofcourse i am just stating examples for ideas, what ever you come up with will be good.

      Hello! thanks for commenting again under this video
      I'm going to repeat my answer to the comment on the last one:
      I can tell you the conflict will be modeled (kind of) on the 30 years war, and the Polish Deluge, but taking inspiration from other wars,
      Also developments and technologies that drastically alter the cultures and historical antecedents that didnt happen in our world or happened much later, which really alter the political landscape, so really, not much like anything in our world that happened in that period.

Or could a person just simply feed their energy into the construct in order to I have the vines come down and be climbed? Another good option would have been if the legs had a series of decorative spikes along the back that could look menacing but could also be climbed similar to the way someone climbs a telephone pole.

I was thinking if there was a back cloak with holes in it or some shoulder armor with bits of flowing scarves hanging off of them that those two could be used as climbing implements. It would make them easier to get in and out of as well as for storage capabilities I'm not sure if there's ever going to be a need where you're going to have to stash these armors in different places. • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  Год назад +1

      haha! very interesting question
      more info in the next video, but to answer quickly
      it depends on what the resting state was when they were fixed to the mech or other machinery
      in general vines can exert power both pulling and pushing by contracting or expanding inner section chambers, however they are stronger in the pull.
      And in the case of the mechs, since they are mostly confined within its rigid exoskeleton, not much expansion is happening other than to power the blows (the triceps pushing a bit as the biceps pull, and the other way)
      however, what happens when the vines are unbound? Well, it depends!
      more info on this later!

    I had a simular idea a long time ago, though the power armor was powered by symbiotic slime that acted as its muscles, and neural interfaced with their hosts, in one version of the idea the suits would only be usable to individual of a species who's bodies were modified to host the symbiotic slimes, in other versions they are usable for anyone of a certain species, though the symbiot slowly consumes the pilot for power, fortunately the species can regenerate pretty good so shirt term use is no biggie, though when not in use the unbounded symbiote would be removed from the armored and would still have to cared for/fed, though they don't have to eat their host its just the most avaliable sorce of nutrients to power the rigors of combat.

    Just a thought but what if the mechs were personalized for each person, like since a child they will steadily grow a tree and manipulate its essence around the "skeleton" of the mech or use the least flexible parts of the tree as the skeleton, because if they were growing said tree since childhood would they not be able to connect too it easier allowing better manipulation of the mech and control? ( Got the personalization idea from a book series where your "magic" was stronger when in a environment you are familiar with like your home or favourite tree) i am not trying to backseat to your world or magic system i just like expanding or exploring ideas even if my expanding is quite bad which it mostly is but i just find it fun.

      That's a cool idea! And while it could work on some cases, like a vineworks engineer/pilot, the process of creating a vinemech takes a lot of people with different expertises, and becoming a pilot is no easy task itself! However that doesn't mean there aren't different types and specializations of the Mechs, in fact a lot of them are unique and made with a specific battle role in mind. Thank you for the cool idea though;

      Hear me out, Plant babies, some sketchy organization/military raises kids but as soon as they are born they remove limbs and flesh unnecessary for mechs and replace it with seeds and let the child be some tree-borg thing thats only goal is too be the best mech pilots out there

      @@Tree.lancer I would also like to add, to make it even more personal, the vinemech can have their own unique body parts that has grown in accordance to the user's preferences, like plant grafting so it can have four hands or four legs, or maybe different plant combined/grafted together to create faster moving legs with strong body, etc.
      Basically, it acts as a pseudo customization for your vinemech frames, of course there should also be armor customization.

    what would anti plantmech weaponry look like, would these mechs use like lances or ballistas, or does it just have to rely on the brute force of the vines themselves?
    If there is anti plantmech weaponry what would your opinion be on gunpowder weapons in the context of the setting?
    And secondly I have to ask for the sake of giant mechs = funny, how big can these get and still be able to be piloted?
    After only 2 videos im subbing to you boss, I love everything about this, from the vines themselves, to the illustration you've given us, would love to see different structures of mechs, and maybe different styles and factions, different kind of vines, different kinds of armour, after 7 minutes im hooked.

      That said, the way the vines work is very different from the water bending the swamp sage was doing on the algae.

    When you said that the Magic User, being able to control the mech made me think that, Older Mages, ones with more magic and power will likely have more control over thier mech armor.
    I have but one question. What sort of Attachments would go on a mech. Me personally, these mechs act more than just Guards or Tanks. They can also carry way more than any other.
    Have Larger Rifles, or straight up have shoulder cannons. Idk, the options for weaponry make sense for a walking bipedal tank.

    How does one prepare to pilot a mech? They must need to produce and conserve a lot of essence. Are some people naturally abundant with essence and better suited for pilothood? Or do they undergo exercises to generate larger reserves?

    • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  7 месяцев назад

      Will cover this in a later video but basically mechs are guarded by and deployed with a large infantry retinue and baggage train, called "troupes" of 40-60 or even more people.
      before a battle all who are able "share" some of their essence with the pilot, which can hold this large amount for a limited time, but enough for most battles/tactical actions.
      Once this reserve runs out however, they run the risk of succumbing to madness if they run their own reserves too low.

    • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  Год назад

      It would depend on the pilot and the mech ofc! but in general there should be enough room, although perhaps not plenty, with smaller folk perhaps even bringing extra cushioning to stop bouncing around as the thing moves, while larger folk might fell like a large guy in a tiny car for instance.

    Does wearing the suits have any negative impact on the wearer? How long does it take and in what form does it exhaust the wearer when they are in the suit? If they aren't exhausted, does a fight just end with death, destruction, or the flight of the suit/suit wearer? (Flight because of the suit wearer expecting death or destruction of the suit, not because of exhaustion, therefore no time limit due to exhaustion in combat).

    culturally how are these used in non combat ways? were they developed as weapons or as tools first? could one be made or refit to aid in digging out ores for smelting or built with pulleys to act as a crane for loading and unloading goods from ships or wagons?

    • @Tree.lancer
      @Tree.lancer  7 месяцев назад

      Next video should answer a lot of these questions! but yes, the vines are used in all manner of ways, and there are demimechs, and powersuits, made strictly for agricultural or transport purposes for example.
      As for their evolution, that's another video entirely, but basically, they started from simple prosthetics, then the military application, then the economic applications, and from there they developed in tandem.
