Gran Design 2250RK. UNDER 30’ great kitchen storage and counter space. Theater seating, fireplace, direct viewing TV, pantry. Windows in back and both sides, giant mid bath with 2 doors separating M Bedroom and Living. Queen bed, good bedroom storage and 2 exterior doors. It’s a lot of trailer packed into less than 30’

First RV we bought had a rear kitchen...fridge at the back, never again. Unless you are buying it to park and not travel, you will be dealing with scrambled fridge and cupboard contents, especially in an off-road model. What ever floor plan you get, I strongly suggest fridge over the axle.

  • @dannycarlton1223

Our 'perfect' couples camper is the Grand Design 297RSTS. While the camper will technically sleep 6 (2 on the full queen, 2 on the tri-fold sofa, and 2 on the dinette table if so equipped), we subscribe to the 642 rule: 6 for cocktails, 4 for dinner, 2 for sleep. The rear of this camper is dedicated to the living room/entertainment area. The one drawback some may have to this camper; the windows on the street side as opposed to the curb side. Initially this was due to the design of the prior to 2020 models incorporating an outdoor tv entertainment area along with an outdoor kitchen. The only camper close to this is the Keystone Premier 30RIPR. With 2 super slides, an island in the middle, the interior is huge.
This camper is laminated sides over aluminum frame, nice size refrigerator, plenty of inside storage, nice size shower/bathroom. It's not 1/2 ton towable.
So I suppose it comes down to what one wants to use their camper for that makes it a couples camper.

Good layout! That same kind is VERY popular in Jayco's Eagle HT fifth wheel series -- the 28.5RSTS

This is the first year with our new Sunset Trail 253rb and for us it's the perfect 'couples" camper. The king bed, huge outdoor kitchen, big TV, incredibly comfortable seating and ridiculous amounts of storage! Your video's got us down to a very short list. The more we use it the more we love it. About time RV manufacturers started putting the TV facing the seating instead of a 90 degree angle where your neck gets cramped after 10 minutes and only the people sitting on the side of the table facing the TV can see it. Oh and those outside fridges are useless unless they make them 12 volt.

SOME brands are starting to wire that outside fridge to the on-board inverters btw. Jayco, Ember.. and I think Rockwood may be doing more of that now

All very nice trailers but I don't se one that could fit in our next buy; as retired couple we want something light, half ton towable (dry weight under 5k) where we can find some kind of space but we do not want any slide; we want to be able to go off road, disperse camping, and also stop almost wherever we want without having to deploy slides.
So far in between Grey Wolf, Jayco and Keystone, our choice remains on the Keystone Springdale 202RD, roomy enough, 2 separated areas, dinette vs. bedroom. (Other trailers such as Lance, Airstream, Ember are out of our budget)
I have been watching your channel and others for quite a while now and did not find yet the perfect floorplan; the Springdale being the only one coming close; off course I'm planning on many upgrades, new axles, composting toilet, solar power and so on.
Any suggestions, I'm listening; anyway as usual excellent video, thanks for your great presentation 👍

My wife and I liked alot of things about the Alta when we saw it in person. BUT! The alta's windows felt so chincey when you want it open. They have plastic clips to keep them open, and they brake so easily. Also, the big window is super nice! But again, wish it could open, with a side opening slide style window system. Alot of potential, but the windows are a massive deal breaker for us. Which is a shame cause we really enjoyed that Floorplan. But am aware that there is plenty of other options with the same Floorplan. Not complaining, just construvtive criticism for Alta to hopefully listen to the community and they could end up having a banger camper line up.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 года назад +1

It’s a fair question and an obvious one I think
Less obvious is how everyone’s definition of things like full timing and what it needs varies
I have seen people full time in a trailer like a wolf pup. Some people couldn’t imagine that

@@JoshtheRVNerd I think our thoughts revolve around a 30'-35' unit (give or take) that provides adequate living and remote working space. A king size bedroom (no preference on N/S or E/W) with some reasonable storage / closet / dresser space. We do appreciate floorplans with walk through bathrooms with glass enclosed showers. Our biggest added value desire is a unit that has enough seating and sleeping potential for when our adult kids and their families join up for a visit (not neccesarily big fans of of bunkhouse units as they typically can't handle the adults in our family.
As for "4 season climate capsble units", we prefer RVs that are 0°-100° capable as we live out on the Rocky Mountain west and enjoy extended season camping. That said, adequate boondocking capabilities would also be preferred (enhsnced tank size is important as is max solar capabilities). Not asking for too much, right?!?! LOL!
I know there is no such thing as the 100% criteria box checked RV, but you've seen more RVs in person than I have, so your thoughts (if and when time provides) would be greatly appreciated.
We would also be interested in 5th wheel options. Our tow vehicle is a 2022, RAM 2500 4WD Crew Cab, short bed, so it should give us a few options I would think. Thanks for your always quick response, professionalism and expertise!
