My “perfect couple’s camper” would DEFINITELY include an attached ladder, solar, Goodyear tires, a true queen bed, theater seating, a TV ,an oven, a “porcelain” toilet, a “rectangular” shower with a shower door, a Maxxair vent fan, and most importantly, NO “1950’s DINER” BOOTH DINETTE💥💥💥

    Josh,
This is a great video to show everyone what they really want as far as layout. Here's something you might consider doing for future videos regarding what couples should look for in features.
    1. Electricity consumption; how much solar does the rig offer and is it expandable? Does it have an inverter, is it gas or electric powered, can you run the microwave, can you run the AC unit?
    2. Towing; what type of hitch does it have, should it have a sway bar or load leveling hitch and how easy is that to add something in that category? What is the safest hitch and which of them fail the most? How much hitch failure is caused by owner error? Gen Y hitches; etc.
    3. Slide type and slide failure. (I know you have done these in the past, but something with actual stats on which ones fail the most and why added in to it and/or possibly updated by brand).
    4. Suspension... Wide stance, leaf suspension and the different types and particularly maintaining them, and lastly independent torsion axles... What are the plusses and minuses of each.
    5. Outside kitchens... What do you need vs. what do you want? How important are they?
    And then this one...
    6. How do you plan to hook up that damned second TV? Is a second TV something you really want or need? What is the secret to hooking it up?
After you decide on the floor plan those are some major deciding factors when it comes to making your purchase.
Just some random ideas that stemmed from watching this video.
    Thanks,
    Pat

Josh: GREAT JOB!! Really like the “philosophy of use” approach you’ve taken with today’s video. Lots of models identified grouped by floor plans and then there’s the included side bar list of specific similar models within each category. A person looking for that “perfect” rear dinette no slide trailer can use your list to quickly drill down without having to wade through a lot of other trailers that don’t meet their needs or wants. Please do more vides in this style. Respectfully, W.S.

My Christmas wish list is a light "toy hauler" except not really for anything more than kayaks with that drop down door with the fenced in patio space. 16' long with a queen bed that hides up at the ceiling and pulls down on struts (no electric lift necessary). Below the bed is roll over couch/ twin bed. The opposite wall would have a desk set up that could also be additional counter space. The kitchen would have a tall cabinet with the bottom 1/3rd dedicated to holding dog food/supplies. It needs a propane oven and burners (no microwave), a propane/electric fridge, a sink that works with an electric pump or with a hand pump. It must have a dry bath with a retractable shower door. Outside, I would like a rear awning and I'd prefer a dual axle.

Yes, you are reading my mind. I want to see floorplans. Specifically, I want to see bath and 1/2 floorplans as small as possible. I know it's gonna be close to 37ft...but maybe there are smaller that I don't know about.

Thank you so much for all you do. We are shopping for retirement and dreaming of the future. Would love if you added a small family category to your reviews. Bunk houses aren’t great for teens, babies or those with mobility issues. Having 2 dedicated beds is the hope both with headroom and storage.

Josh, I appreciate all the insights you provide into the RV industry. If there's one thing that I think you need to be more up front on, and that is the poor build quality RVer's are experiencing. I'm sure you watch Liz amazing as many others do and I know it would be hard for you to badmouth RVs when they're paying your salary, but truth is what it is.

If someone gets up early or someone stays up late, you NEED a wall/door on that bedroom. If you are lucky enough to have the same sleep schedule, you can save some serious $. Those last 3 campers you showed are all amazing. I loved this video, really walked us through a category and showed options so we can dial in what we truly want vs need. GREAT JOB! My only complaint, I know price is always something companies don't want to talk about, but sometimes I feel these videos get me to fall in love with a certain camper, then I find out it is a $60,000 camper and I am disappointed I can't afford it. I understand if you don't want to say the exact price, but maybe give a hint, these campers are under $25k, the next group is $25-35k, the final group is $35k plus.

My wish is for a couples / dog parent camper. Give me a singe bunk on hinges that at night my dog can sleep on and during the day I flip it up, a tray on the underside of the bunk can fold down and I can use it as a desk. Give me a murphy bed for me and the wife, make the sofa have leg rests, watching a movie in a upright seated position sucks. Next give me a dinnett in a slide so we have a place to eat, build puzzles or play board games. Make it under 26Ft and less than 6K. On the tanks, give me a big grey tank. My wife and I have never come close to pooing 35 gallons of waste, Make the black 20 gallons, Gray 50 and fresh 35, Out of all the tanks fresh is the easiest to deal with, you either have water at the site or you transport water to your site as apposed to have sewer hook ups at the site or taking a portable waste tote to the dump station.

    5) I think that I can “Imagine” myself in an Imagine. I like the fold up counter.
    6) I can see myself Sitting back and relaxing in this Alliance. Favorite one I think.
    7) I like the Jayco as well, but it needs more backsplash and a place for CPAP machines.
    8) Rockwood looked nice on the outside. Appeared to have 30# LP tanks.
    9) Cougar #2 looks nice as well. It too needs more backsplash
    10) Same as #9.
    11) Mini’s: I love the counter space, however like all other campers, they need more backsplashes.

Nicely done. thats a lot of work. for very selfish reasons I'd like to see a version of this featuring: solo, large human compatible, under 21', Off-grid/extended boondock, BLM compatible (tough and maneuverable) - Airstream Basecamp, Ember 170 series, intech navigate, etc. Not necessarily a rock crawler but will put up with washboard and unmaintained roads. Like the Geo-pro 19 series looks pretty good for the purpose without breaking the wallet. Hey Josh thanks for all the good content you put out on RV'S. I can't wait for you to get your hands on some of the new Outdoors titanium, and Northwood RV'S, they have changed their colors and came out with 12volt fridges as well as 400 watts of solar standard,(and some nash OTG are 600,plus Northwood is offering 2000 watt inverters as an option. The 22G Artic fox now has a Murphy bed option as well as the 25 R coming with a two-seater Dinette and theater seat option and they put the TV across from it in the cabinet , but there are still some 2024 with mixed new features like the new fridge but same old colors they are
probably just trying to use up all the old stock but it will be totally phased out soon. I know they are hard for you to find especially the outdoors RV titanium versions which looks so much better than the mountain series but I know they are pricey as well, anyway I know you will eventually find some and I'll be waiting to see what you think.

Talk about the shower being a elbow knocker on that Cougar, the TV placement is a head knocker for anyone sleeping on that side of the bed and trying to get around it in the middle of the night. It is so blocked off you have to get out at the foot of the bed. Not a good placement for the TV. Not sure where else it could go but it would be a deal killer.

They wife and I like the rear bedroom like our Flagstaff 2516s so we are further away from the campground road when backed into a site. Gives us a little more piece and quite.

Thanks for the helpful info. However, I just don’t understand how manufacturers expect anyone to RV for any length of time other than a weekend or few days with only the storage next to the bed. They always call them “wardrobes” but there is such minimal space in them for many clothes at all… The brands with actual wardrobes, like Rockwood Minilites, that include more hanging clothes storage and some shelves are clearly listening to customers.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

Probably not a coincidence Rockwood/Flagstaff just dominate their market segment

You can convert the back into a garage that’s easy loading g

Manufacturers are behind the curve, tow vehicles are getting smaller with less capacity as time moves on, most full size trucks moving down to 6 cylinder and small trucks to 4 cylinder engines.
RV manufacturers still want to make multi slide behemoths - they should be moving toward more light weight campers. This is just a personal observation in general terms but I understand for each his own there are still some people still want large trailers etc .
As a RV professional in the field what are your thoughts on this, do you think manufacturers are behind the curve in making RVs lighter and more accessible to today's modern vehicles?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 месяца назад +1

Mfgs are making moves in those areas but with their company structures they can’t just pull the plug on the other stuff. There’s definitely things being made now that don’t make sense
