The best Rolex sport model ever made-
The no cyclops is one of the reasons I bought this watch. People see it and think it’s a fake because of the lack of cyclops and I LOVE that. Rides super low key and shows who REALLY know their watches vs. those who call Rolex watches “rollies”
hahaha, same reason here! I love my sea dweller
Got one today and love it, just the bracelet is terrible. Put one of my newer sub glidelock bracelets on there. Now the watch is perfect
@@rogerb1964 what don’t you like about the bracelet?
@@rogerb1964 , the bracelet on the 116600 sea dweller, is almost identical to the modern bracelets on Subs.
@@bring.us.together i was too stoned when i watched this. I got a 16600, the old Sea Dweller. On that I changed the bracelet. Damn drugs :)
I bought this watch as a gift for myself Xmas eve 2015 as I saw it sitting in the Tourneau window. They had a 3 year with no interest plan so I decided to pull the trigger. I had no idea I would walk out of the Mall with a rolex that day had gone Xmas shopping for family. I had a fake submariner I used to wear. I liked it because the date was so nicely placed in the watch I hate the cyclops. I had no clue about watches but then found out they canceled it and said to myself this watch is gonna be worthless just my luck. It's a wonderful watch and I am a 1 and done guy will pass it down to my kids. A warning though the most annoying part of owning this watch is explaining that it's not a Submariner , 99 out of 100 don't know the difference.
I’m so glad they discontinued this watch. 116600 is absolutely a keeper and beautiful piece. 100% agree with you on most people don’t know the difference between this and a sub because all they know is Rolex makes submariner.
This is a great story.
Love the size and look. This is going to be a collector piece I feel. Price is bound to skyrocket even more.
Rare. This model is ever increasing. It's becoming really difficult to obtain this piece. If you own it, do not sell it. You're beyond lucky.
just got this exact watch for my 18th, could have instantly solf for profit but im keeping as a heritage piece
@@edwardcurd416 Lucky man. This will really take off in value soon.
@@sirhodl5945
I’m guessing you own one?
I've owned one for years it's the same price as when I bought it
Definitely on my watch list 👌
This watch is definitely a sought after timepiece and one of the Rolex finest timepieces.
Hope that Rolex would reconsider removing the cyclops on the future Seadweller models because (IMHO) a lot of people prefer the absence of the cyclops.
There are only 5 for sale within the UK. They are difficult to obtain.
couldnt agree with you more. so much better without the cyclops!
No haha let Rolex make those Seadwellers big at 43mm with cyclops, I hope they'll never make the SD in 40-41mm without cyclops, makes the 116600 all that special.
Why don’t they end links fit correctly? Jarring😬
Why is the helium escape valve shiny and polished on this version of the 116600? On the ones I have seen it was always matte.
Abseloutly polished
it's always matte, if it's polished that means the HEV has been polished along with the case.
This is the one to have besides the new sea dweller …
Wow no sapphire pimple, I'm shocked! Shocked I say!
The GOAT. For those that know…
I have this for sale
@@fushan9640 I own one, otherwise I’d inquire
The worst watch to own wears like a brick clown watch for the goats lmfao!!!
@@ernestogarcia7931 that would be the new sea dweller or Deepsea
Absolutely the best Rolex in my opinion! Modern touches.. ceramic bezel, glide lock. Fully graduated bezel. Matt black dial. Thinner lugs. 40mm perfect size. 14mm thick, more masculine than a sub for example but still perfect for everyday wearing (a lot of women wear subs and Daytona’s these days). Super comfortable. Engraving on the back, how many Rolex’s have this? Frosted on inside of clasp, how many Rolex’s have this? Protruding sapphire Crystal which catches the light beautifully. Helium escape valve on the side to remind you this watch is something special. Super lume which is just incredible, even during the day (no one mentions this on the videos). Date with no cyclops! Production run under 3years… this is a VERY special watch for the connoisseur that will keep increasing in value for a long time!
🔥
How many of the SD4K has been produced in only 2 and a half years? This model is very rare and very special
No one really knows but Rolex, what's for sure is a production run of only 2.5-3 years is ridiculously short for Rolex standards. Even the Rolex Milgauss, the oddball of the Rolex collection, was in production from 2007-early 2023.
Please do a comparison between this and the 16600! All videos compare the Deepsea and the 16600.
Prefer the 16600, Put that on a glidelock bracelet and you got the perfect watch
Astute buyers watch. Of course your right roger😉
How dare you say the dial is black lacquer with a lustrous, glossy, bottomless look??? Just kidding, Tim is the best! But this one does have a matte dial
"aquatic persuasion" lol. Tim is such a dork.
Awesome watch for sure. I owned one, and really wanted to love it, but it never quite connected with me (I suppose that's why it was discontinued, many others felt the same). I thought about keeping it for the investment potential, but already nearly doubled my money when I eventually sold it. With the proceeds I bought a blue Pelagos and a random serial 16610 and absolutely don't regret it. I'd rather keep watches I really love, rather than just investment pieces, which this watch undoubtedly is!!
I just got one, theres lots of them around. This watch was in production for 20 years - the 116600 is the rare one. Was only arround for 2 years
What are the bezel markings made of, I see a scratch on the 35?
They are engraved into a Cerachrom bezel, coated with either Gold or Platinum.
Platinum deposits
@@patrickbateman529 Thanks, too bad they aren't scratch resistant like the ceramic bezel insert.
People buy this rare watch because people have convinced other people it is rare.
I honestly don't care about rarity. It's a Submariner on steroids. It's a 40mm dive watch with a depth rating of over a kilometer. I want one. I need it as a professional desk diver.
The fact is, it is quite rare for a modern rolex. Even the green submariner hulk were produced in far greater numbers.
Good explanation.
I have the same watch in a combination of black and gold also without no The clock is the same as this one here except that it has an 18 carat gold plated center band. Amateurs think it is a fake but it is original with all certificates.
What???
Huh? This same watch with black and gold? Haha

Love this comment t
Says it is the super case but I don’t believe it is…. Can anyone verify?
Ah, 40mm, how quaint. I remember when.... 😀
This watch is a sub on steroid, just a bit cleaner and tougher. Im not a big fan of sub just because everybody’s got a sub. Just like Canada goose and Yeezys etc. they’re like uniforms now.
Ok, so i Just find my dream watch, and it happens to be super rare, though luck.
if you like it, have the means to buy it, go and buy now before more and more collectors jump on the bandwagon.
@@lettuce1305 Im against the idea of paying over msrp for a watch. got a couple of Omegas, a Breiling and a Rolex so, the itch to get a high end watch is gone, I choose not to pay gray market prices
@@Cinestudi0 the watch was long discontinued and no AD would have them in stock any longer. So it's pretty much impossible to pay the MSRP.
As I said, though luck
This watch looks almost identical to the Invicta. Pro Diver.
It kinda does but I'd rather wear this Invicta.
@@xekret
The Invicta Pro Diver cost about $78, the Rolex cost $12K, both watches are mass produced, basic tool watches. I'll keep snobbery and ego in check, buy the Invicta and invest the $11K difference.
@@dorado0359 Invicta will work for about a day then you will have to go back to walmart for another one.
@@dorado0359 HAHAHA what??? This SeaDweller was not mass produced AND this watch doesn’t look like the Invicta, the INVICTA was made to look like THIS watch. Go ahead and buy your “fake Rolex”! Hope you feel embarrassed when people ask you about how they like your “Rolex” 😂
I’m mostly just busting your 🏀 ⚽️’s dude, wear what you like and what makes you happy.
You definitely know you stuff !
😂
I scored this by walking into a Rolex AD just by chance
question -- for AD's, do they carry discontinued watches? or was this a while back when you bought it? cheers.
@@jackdunlap582 nah these days ADs don't have this reference anymore, this was discontinued in 2017, the last one I've seen people manage to buy brand new from an AD was cos of the old stock in 2019.
I am never letting mine go…. People who want a “Rolex” buy the cyclops. People who want a “Sub” buy the non-cyclops.
No they actually buy a Submariner - no date. Who needs a date when diving?
@@rogerb1964 saturation divers that can live underwater for days or weeks? Anyways there is a computer for everything these days.
@@lettuce1305 which divers stay underwater for days and weeks?? And why would they?
@@rogerb1964 saturation divers can live in an underwater chamber for weeks, google it buddy.
Nice but I think I prefer the submariner over this
Jamie- Just out of curiosity, specifically, what about a Sub (I’m assuming you are comparing a six digit sub) do you find more preferential than the 116600? Of course, to each their own, but in my humble opinion, the SD4K is better in almost every way. It’s more scarce, more aesthetically interesting/pleasing with it’s design, and more functionally superior. And as for it being more thick than a Sub, like Tim M mentioned, since a good deal of the thickness comes from the case back, which recesses nicely into the wrist, it wears more like a Sub anyway. I’ve owned both (My SD4K is currently my daily) and without question, the Sea Dweller is just ridiculously good. Lol I guess either way you can’t really go wrong!!
@@Michael_T_ specifically I’m thinking of the 126610LN. You are right - either answer will always be correct as it is of course subjective and in the eye of the beholder.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d quite happily flip a coin and take the seadweller or the submariner and be equally as happy.
@@GonzoJamie 👍
The Sd4k is better in everrry wayyy..... will never ever sell this one ..... i have no longer Subs in my collection
The perfect Rolex diver - best Rolex i ever had.....
This is a thick boy… I’ll stick with my 116610
This watch is the perfect thickness, can easily be worn everyday. More masculine than some thinner Rolex sports models but not too thick like the deep sea.
The 116610 is way bigger than this watch. Maxi case is just too bulky. I have a 114060 and the 16600 looks much better on my wrist.
believe it or not the 116610 wears bigger, I've tried on both. Despite the 116600 being thicker, it actually doesn't wear thick, and the slimmer lugs make the watch wear smaller for some reason.
This model will be going for over $100k in 25 years.
Correct.
Not really considering theres 1000s available. Mass produced for 20 years.
@@rogerb1964 2yrs. Even less when you factor in they went unsold for long periods before becoming discontinued.
@@sirhodl5945 my bad, i was referring to the 16600. But still, this watch wont be 100k im afraid.
@@rogerb1964 It's limited run `and supply alone will ensure that it does. The 116600 is rare.
This is just a thicker sub with gimmicky WR. 114060 is far better in every way!
Oversize Sub lol
Sub is undersized sd lol
