Methinks that the Mormon following for the LWS would not have approved of liquor being mentioned. I believe that caffeine is verboten, as well. Can someone expand on my hunch?
I was born in 1946. Grew up on this type of music, and loved it. Most of the music played on the radio was popular music. Rock and Roll music came into existance later on. I think the lennon sisters were on this show in the late 50'd, maybe early 60's The music was soothing, relaxing.

I never liked this song until I heard my 19 year old daughter listening to it one day a few months ago. She likes to sing and said she loves the way the singers harmonize in this song. Now of course I love it too.

When I was a little girl, I had Lennon Sisters paper dolls. I liked them so much that I made my own paper outfits for them and played with them regularly. ... I wonder if that was the beginning of my obsession with clothes... 😲😁😄💗😎
Isn’t that funny? My mom and I watch it on 📺 every Saturday afternoon on Channel 22. It’s very inspirational for me, because it’s there to help me become a good 👩🏻🎤.
They were loved by the over 40 set and the religious right of the 60s. To The rock and roll generation they were a joke considered along with the entire Lawrence welk show as pretty nerdy & uncool at the time. young people made fun of them for being goody two shoes.
@@matthewcooper3535 They were loved by decent people with class and discriminating taste. (*discriminating's original usage had nothing to do with prejudice so don't be confused).
Don't be envious dear, you are also beautiful. Look up the difference between jealousy and envy, you might edit you comment. Thank you for the gracious comment.
Had to watch Lawrence every Sunday and then Red Skelton, us kids preferred Disney, Laugh In, Smother's Brothers or Sonny and Cher, LOL...couldn't wait for this to be over.
I was born in 1965, and I always kid and say I was born ten years to late because I never liked the music of my generation. Give me the early sixties to the mid seventies and I am a very happy girl. Especially anything to do with Motown Sam Cook and Ray Charles. Also the Spinners the Chi-Lites and the Stylistics. Thanks for listening and Happy Holidays
You do realise not all places in the 1950s were racist. I’ve seen loads of movies with amazing black actors based on the 1900s. In America it was quite normal to see a black person as America is a very big place
I know you may recall this old fashion but you know what I remember those days watching this on the Lawrence Welk show and how wonderful my mom taught us all kinds of music to understand what music is
Thank you for posting this wonderful Lennon Sisters video. I always thought they had such great voices and harmonies! Used to watch LW with my mom's aunt whom had an RCA Victor color tv. Way cool for a kid back in '67!
I was absolutely mesmerized by the Lennon sisters on the Welk show when I was a grade school kid in the late 60’s. I thought they were so pretty. 💕And those voices…wow!
Love The Lennon Sisters and love watching the old classic show The Lawrence Welk Show used to watch it as a kid and teenager young adult even now more so now . I am almost 64 years old in April !
I loved Something Stupid ever since I heard Frank and Nancy Sinatra sing it in their 1967 recording played over the radio. Brings back good memories. Thanks for uploading.
Awww the Lovely Lennon Sisters. I love this kind of music. My parents always watch the Lawrence Welk Show on Saturday night when my dates were picking me up. I'm not into the music of my generation. Hubby is a DJ and can't understand my taste..har har My kids also have older eceltic taste in music.

Methinks that the Mormon following for the LWS would not have approved of liquor being mentioned. I believe that caffeine is verboten, as well. Can someone expand on my hunch?
Yes Yes
They were Catholic - not Mormon. They even went to Catholic high school(s).
Wow thank you that something stupid but I live you...
As far as I know, caffeine & booze are still no nos in the LDS culture. But they still love Jello, too, apparently.
They sing like angels
watching them grow throughout these performances is crazy
Unreal, makes you wish you were there
Best era of music. I think people were generally happier back then.
What beautiful harmonies. Very classy.
I had such a crush on Janet in the late 50's , early '60's.

"Somethin' Stupid" is a song written by C. Carson Parks. It was originally recorded in 1966 by Parks and his wife Gaile Foote, as Carson and Gaile.
