    Chris, I totally agree with your assessment but not necessarily how you described it. The stops are not for emergencies. They are in fact there to support the weight of the car and has nothing to do with a hydraulics failure. They are designed to be used exactly as you did. Raise it up and then set it down on the stop. One thing I did in my Quick Jacks video that you didn't is you can actually grab the hydraulic ram and rattle it in the brackets so there is ZERO load on the ram when the lift is on the locking bar as it should be. If it were to rely on hydraulics you wouldn't be able to disconnect the hoses and leave a car on the lift which is totally acceptable practice for long term storage. Not bashing or trying to be critical. Just offering a different perspective. I am totally jealous of your weather this time of year!

    • @mycorvettelife
      @mycorvettelife  4 года назад +1

      You are correct. I guess I misrepresented. Some people were thinking that the Quickjacks held the car up purely by hydraulic pressure.

    Hello, I enjoy watching your channel. I am a true Corvette gal. I am currently on my third Corvette. My first was a used 1976, second was a new 2010 Grand Sport and last was a new 2019 Stingray. Looking forward to seeing the new brakes on your Corvette. I watched your video on painting your old faded calipers red. Great video. My Stingray is white with dark gray calipers. Even though I would love to paint them red, I just don't know if they will turn out well. I even purchased the Corvette lettering stickers. If I paint them, I'm afraid the stickers won't hold up as well as the stock painted calipers over time. I think I will leave well enough alone and let the dark gray calipers stay. I also enjoyed your last video on the lift stability. Thank you!

  • @nyplantingsgardendesigners5645
    @nyplantingsgardendesigners5645 3 года назад

    I use mine for years.
    These guys at QuickJack have excellent customer service. They go above and beyond. I can explain how if you want.
    I bought the heavy duty model for 7000 plus pounds because the base is wider by 20% or so but be warned they are HEAVY.
    These quick jacks rust very quickly and cannot handle being outdoors much. Just one season (I would try to dump out standing water by tipping on side and hitting with leaf blower) left outdoors over Winter and they rusted terribly. I sprayed with WD40 to slow down rust but not much luck.
    Most people won't have this issue.
    I still use them allot but really would *be happy pay extra for a marine version.
    The last thing is the 3rd party sellers like Northern etc. do not know much about these and I would have gotten the 12V version if I had known about it but found out even after I received my quickjack.
    If you have a vette you can afford this so get it. Lifting and lowering several times during some repairs and mods it pays for itself.

    Straight from the QJ manual updated with the TL series. Page 7 "As an added precaution, you must always use auxiliary safety stands under the Vehicle while
    elevated on both QuickJack Frames.". So they must have some second thoughts about being sued and the safety.? I'm not sure putting jack stands under it which will be lower and have space between them and the vehicle would actually catch the car if it were to come down. They would likely flip out if it came down at a bit of an angle. But bummer you have to fool with stands as well as this $1500 jack solution.

    Chris, you make great videos, but all of these quick Jack's have one fatal flaw. I watched a guy let down his vette,but he never released the other side. Yes, the car came down on one side and slid off of the jack. Bad on his part, but it happened.

      QuickJack sells well made heavy duty wall brackets that you can use to store the jacks on a wall,but,the jacks are heavy,and,if the screw come out of the wall that hold the brackets someone or something will get hurt!I have mine stored under my C5.Slide them in,and slide them out!Also,I removed the metal bale from a five gallon bucket and bent it around so it would fit on the end of the Quickjack so that I can pull them where I want them to go!

      Lifting blocks and jacking pucks, just like you would with any jack or lift.

    Oh, and I almost forgot!
    My husband took a piece of 1 inch square steel tubing and built a temporary lock that runs from one jack to another, just to keep them from separating or collapsing toward each other.
    Very simple, very easy and still adds an extra measure of safety.

    dude you are very crazy with what you did on the jacks by pushing your car. I went and bought one right after I saw this I wanted to see how safe they are and not just what the manufacture says.
