Yes Stu, us Montreal Canadien fans, want to know any information about our beloved Habs. I watch as much and listen as much of the Hab nation information as I can get. Thanks to you all for helping us in this regard. Keep it coming and I will keep on watching....
was at the scrimmage today and Hage looks really impressive. good skater, very skilled.
Hage
Great Show Guys
The overall look of
Where Habs are and
Where we hoped to be .
Is great insight, great
Conversation
❤
FORGET ABOUT ZEGRAS !!!!!!!!!!
Dach and Anderson on the second line will give you 40 goals at least, plus Newhook…a full season will get you 20….they don’t need more scoring, they need to stay healthy….
I think we all agree that location, taxes, and weather favor many other cities although the tax thing might be overblown as Stu explained. But Montreal has an advantage in attracting the Quebec-born free agents. Savard, Dubois and Marchesseault all had an interest in coming here and that’s where language and culture can play to your advantage. Look at Mattheson ( I know he came here via trade) … he seems very happy to be here.
I absolutely love the rebuild plan , trusting the management team to make the right moves has been amazing , it been a near picture perfect rebuild , what mistakes have been made? Only one that I can see that stands out was passing on a 1st round pick for Josh Anderson.
Who was offering a 1st round pick for that guy?
Good podcast boys!
Indeed Stu, Hughes offered more money than Nashville to Marchesschault because Nashville is a no state tax team...this is why most UFA want to play for a no state tax team especially when it is their very last contract of their career...!!!
That wasnt the reason he didn’t sign. Nashville offered twice as much term. People his age want longer contracts for the security making little more money for 2 seasons makes no sense for someone his age
@@kevinboisvert5610 I agree, but the point I am making here is a team like Montreal has to offer more money to get players compared to a U.S. no state tax team. Quebec has one of the highest income tax rate in North America, so somehow, Montreal has to compensate players to make up for that...Yes indeed, Nasville also offered more term to Marchesseault !!!
@@powers1500 Yea I hear ya I do agree no tax has something to do with it but it’s not the main thing. I’d be surprised if pro athletes come close to paying the full tax. Canadian teams also seem to give out bigger signing bonuses and players get more endorsements to make up for it.
At this point they'll wait and see how the young players match up during the camp, if you have players like Roy, Beck etc playing really good, you need to give em the right chair and reps in the NHL to develop if they are ready for it before you try to contend in a few year.
Suzuki-cauffield-Hutson then, Dach-Slaf-Matheson are nice rolling OT lines
Habs could have picked better at 70 than Koivo
Mews would’ve been a great pick there
Anderson scored 9 goals last year. Averaged 13 a year for Habs in 5 seasons. Gimme a break
Hab armchair GMs act like he's a perennial 35 goal scorer that can fetch 2 first round picks.
he would have fetched more 2 years ago at the deadline but Habs were asking too much. Too bad they didn't take what they could get
Habs dont need to do shit but wait honestly, would be more fun to watch them play this season if they did get a guy but not sure a top6 puts us in a playoffs spot but Im sure it puts us further away from high pick. Id prob wait til we theyre done with all these bergevin contract and just get a guy off free agency. Next draft is our last shot at drafting high, when demidov gets here its gameover. Id just use the players we wanna trade to get more picks.
The Habs don't "need" to do anything (this year) they need to have ALL the prospects get s much ice time as possible. This is the season where management will make their final evaluations on who will be our core and depth players. Then they know who they keep who goes and what's missing to complete the team.
We need another top 6 scorer. I know Laine is a gamble but we should try he’s 2 years and will be cheap. If it doesn’t work just let him go UFA. If it does work then we have to offer a good contract to him. Laine problems with injuries is not his fault he is not a wimp. He knows that no matter what the next 2 years will define his career. They talk about being a cancer the team we have now won’t suck into that. Let’s gamble and give the man a chance. The other way to go is Ehlers and Mcroaty both or Zegras
@@dav4303 I disagree
The tax thing is real.... just learn the math.
Even if players have good accountants, a player can still save more tax money when playing for a no tax state team. It is not just because of the weather that most UFA's want to sign for them. 4 out of 5 last Stanley cup champions are from a U.S. no tax state.
Matt / Stu, there isn't anything sinister about Kirby driving a car with Illinois plates in Montreal. If Kirby still has a residence in Illinois there is no issue. Also, he will still pay taxes for income earned in Canada if he is resident in the US.
Our top 6 would be so strong by adding McGroarty. Dach-Demidov-McGroarty.
Barron and Anderson need to have sessions with the same Sports Psychologist that turned Armia around...if not for there own sake than to boost their trade value 😉
Stu tu as raison, 6 juillet ,j'ai écouter le match, les entrevues et votre podcast😂
"Need" to make a trade? Really... Who are you?
Another trade? They need at least 3 more to get rid of Anderson, Dvorak, Armia. Also I've said it on another channel, Hughes focus should be on acquiring Draisaitl, we have the assets they need for him (a ton of picks and prospects) because they are going to be in serious salary cap issues with McDavid contact hitting UFA in two summers and he'll be getting north of 15million. We have room, picks, and prospects. This needs to be the only conversation on the final piece of this rebuild.
Armia and Dvorak are UFA after next season. No rush to pay "to get rid" of them. The plan is for 26-27 (I see the same thing as Arpon Basu ) If they pay to "get rid" of Anderson it'll probably be for the last year of his contract.
Do u think the habs would have drafted eiserman instead of hage if he hadnt been selected one pick earlier??
The Target was always Eiserman.. while Hage is a nice pick too (and might be the better pro) -- all that maneuvering was in hopes of getting Eiserman. Disappointed hugo couldnt go to #19 and just say, take Connelly at #21 and heres 2x2nds for yiur troubles.
@@themilosh895 not true, if eiserman was the target the habs wouldve traded down to like 13th before the draft cuz nobody knew eiserman would be drafted that late in the first round
We will never know.
Hage is a much better prospect, high ceiling C2 or C3, fits the profile they target, and you could tell when they talked after the draft that it was their guy (Bobrov and Lapointe too) and why they traded up for him. Also they have a better Eiserman already with Caufield and they say they want different types of players.
Tarasenko and Fabbri deals would’ve both been good for Mtl. Flip fabbri at this deadline, flip Tarasenko at the next
josh needs better teammates. get his value up
Only trade for laine and our top 6 is amazing and some good veteran
You trade harris+barron+our 1th round for laine only 2 years left
@@mikegravel5310 our first round ! aoutch the guy is in recovery and have been a bad apple in every locker room.
Would give Matheson Barron and Mesar no picks. I think out of all our forward prospects only Hage Beck and Roy are going to pan out.
