Couldn’t agree more! NHL coverage as a whole is subpar compared to other major leagues during their respective “offseasons”. Thank you so much Tony & Grant & the Cavalaro production squad. This podcast is SICK! ❤️🔥✌️

Mailloux will be the fan favorite d-man, even more than Hutson and Reinbacker. Mailloux means business, he has a Webber Slapshot. In 3 years he'll be a force to be reckoned with. He will hit, he will charge, he will fight and he will score goals. I have great hope for this young man. He will be what we would want Xhekaj to become.

@@Doppps Xhekaj is good, but Mailloux has got the moves. He does Michigans, he does the cool passes and can shift players. I appreciate Xhekaj, I want him on the team, but his role will be different than the one of Mailloux. Xhekaj will punish anyone entering the zone and that is awesome and he will support the attack. Mailloux has slightly more skills, speed and overall talent.

Realistically I see 3 spots locked in for sure on D: Savard, Matheson, and Guhle. Barron likely gets as much of a shot to play this year as possible as long as he's not a disaster. That leaves 2 spots for 5 guys (Harris, Struble, Mailloux, Hutson, and Xhekaj). Depending on what side Guhle is played on we either have 2 LD spots or 1 LD and 1 RD spot open. I think unless Mailloux blows people away at camp they're gonna go with the 2 LD option. I suspect Xhekaj likely has a spot locked in. So of the remaining 4 I'd personally like to see Hutson getting a regular shift. So there's theoretically a 7th D spot available and that I'd see going to either Harris or Struble with Mailloux in the AHL. Once Savard is traded by the deadline Mailloux likely gets the call up unless Reinbacher is significantly outplaying him.
For the forwards I think the only prospect I see making the cut is Joshua Roy simply due to space on the roster. I'd like to see Heineman turn into something at NHL level but we'd need to either move or waive some veteran forwards to make room

Unless Mailloux has a terrible training camp he should graduate to the NHL. He’s done everything you can expect in Laval - sending him back there means merit is less important than circumstances. This is de-motivating.

Good point About Mailloux possibly starting in Laval. I can see Hutson sliding over to the right in the meantime with Barron and Savard. Sadly for him, I think Barron is on burrowed time in Mtl. Imo he's not a good 5 or 6 guy. Not a player a coach can trust in his own end for one. From what I've seen, F Xhekaj is a center. Mtl needs a center of his caliber, but where he'll fit in depends on his skating. One of the issues habs have is not having anyone physically imposing at center. Glad to hear and see that his skating has improved. I don't think Dach is a regular center as wasn't Drouin. Some of the differences are, is the way they play a 200 ft game, positioning etc. Xhekaj has zero issues getting into players faces and has the ability to get back to the front of his own net, by the hash marks to defend, disrupt, whatever.. The way he plays and sees the game, will actually help improve his line's transition, from defense to offense. With him on the ice. Matter of fact, their +/ - goal differential should also vastly improve 5 on 5. Imo, he has the right mindset of a center. Not holding out much hope for either Heineman or Ferrell at this point... Hutson's ability to mentally slow down the game at NHL level this early in his career as a pro, is what really impresses me about him.. Then there's his skating abilities, head fakes etc.. Hutson is another that fills Mtl's needs as a top puck moving D. I see him at the same level as Demidov talent wise.... Hey Tony,.. I went all out with my workout today. I carried the portable BBQ out to the deck for some very nutritious burgers and dogs..😁

Depends who is left in Montréal : If #58 David Savard (RD) and #8 Mike Matheson LD) still in Montréal you got 5 places left . You got #21 Kaiden Guhle (LD) 4 places left. #52 Justin Barron RD because he could be claimed on waivers and we have 3 places left for #72 Arber Xhekaj (LD/RD) , #54 Jordan Harris (LD/RD) and #47 Jayden Struble (LD), #48 Lane Hutson (LD), #94 Logan Mailloux(RD), #64 David "Popcorn" Reinbacher (RD),#83 Adam Engström (LD). If we had not trade #26 Johnathan Kovacekvic (RD) it would have been another places gone.
    Montréal D-Men
#8 Mike Matheson (LD) best D #58 David Savard (RD) 2nd best D
#21 Kaiden Guhle (LD/RD) (third best D) RFA #52 Justin Barron (RD)
#47 Jayden Struble (LD) #54 Jordan Harris (LD/RD)
    #72 Arber Xhekaj (LD/RD) 7th D-Man.
To be honest we could had pick another 7th D-Man on waiver anytime. Like when we lose #27 Gustav Lindstrom On Waiver to Anaheim and picked Johnathan Kovacevic from WPG.
A full year of Development in Laval for #81 Lane Hutson (LD) #94 Logan Mailloux (RD), #64 David Reinbacher (RD), #72 Arber Xhekaj(LD/RD) , #83 Adam Engström (LD), #84 William Trudeau (LD)

Barring injury, I'd be shocked if Hutson doesn't start the season in MTL. He held his own in the 2 games he played, he got nothing to learn in the AHL. He's exciting to watch, that kid is going to sell a lot of tickets.
Wawa (J. Roy) deserves a shot in a middle six role, he's shown a lot of upside so far.
