      @Robert Siegfried it's a great album, but theres no many bangers.
      There's 7empest but it just doesn't hit as hard or cary as important a message as songs like lateralus or most of the tracks on anemia.
      I agree with the guitar not being as punchy here.
      Anyone thst doesn't like the album though just needs to give it a few more listens.
      I'd put it above opiate and undertow.

    Justin (Bass), Adam (Guitarist and synths) and Danny (Drums, synths, and digital drums) all write the music first. Once the music is written, Maynard comes in and layers the vocals into the composition.

    I will watch you listen every song on this album, and I highly recommend you do so. It's one of my favorite albums ever, grows with every listen. Believe it or not, this is actually my least favorite song on the album (other than intermissions), but I still love this song as well. Pneuma is probably my favorite, but Decending and Invincible are a close second/third.

    I just had the honor and pleasure of seeing Tool live in Boston on the 14th of November and they opened with this song. It's my third time seeing them live...and guys....seriously...if you get a chance to see them, TAKE IT....they can and do play this song to perfection live and its a hell of an opener! Great reaction as always!

    Adam is using a pedal to do volume swells on the guitar at the beginning.Each track is better than the next too.Danny Carey is an amazing drummer and it is just him playing.

    Please do Pneuma next, song changed my life. It’s Danny Carey’s masterpiece. Some of the best drumming you’ve ever heard. The man is either and extremely talented human, or slightly above average octopus. Dying to see you guys hear it.

    When the album was released, i listened to it in one take. And this is the first Song. I cried tears of joy, cause this was like the warmes hug u can receive after so many years without new tool material. i her them every day , and i i never stopped, all these years i listened to their old songs. yes, i´m really part of the Tool-Army with all my heart and soul. For me, Tool is the definition of music and what it should feel like. Glad u like them, too !

    You guys need to know what you’re listening to is a and that is unparalleled unprecedented and we should only consider ourselves lucky, to experience the greatness of tool,, and with Tool that’s just what you do is experience it. All tool records are concept albums they all have a running teams Menard is always providing you with a message that will require peeling back the layers of its complexity to obtain it’s greater meaning. Great reaction. Awesome..

    In addition to something off Empath, I'm still holding out hope that you'll listen to Devin's song Death of Music live at Royal Albert. It's SUCH a beautiful atmospheric song!

    There's just one drummer. Danny Carrey. He is insane. Adam Jones (Guitar) Justin Chancellor (Bass) and Danny write the "Sounds," Maynard calls them. Then they send the Sounds to Maynard and he puts lyrics to it once they are finished.

    Not sure if someone already mentioned this but the music gets written first and when it's done Maynard puts lyrics to it. That's why his voice sounds like it fits perfectly as another instrument. Love the Tool reactions. This whole album is amazing

    he uses electronic drum pads called mandalas so sometimes he can play a beat or set of beats and loop them so it sounds like 2 people for sure plus he's Danny Carey the mad genius of odd time sigs

    Adam, Danny & Justin all write an record the music and Maynard adds his vocals/lyrics last. It is such a complex way of doing it but it works for them. It pays off very well. Done in eloquent fashion.

    Cello at beginning is a guitar..volume change. Only one drummer baby! One song at a time until you reach 7tempest...not 13 minutes..but 16. Every song will be completely different....trust me. This song....go on RUclips and watch live opening of this year's tour. Nothing sounds better than Tool live...enjoy!

    Their formula is to create the music first and then Maynard add the vocals. Most of the electronica and exotic drum sounds you hear are triggered from custom-made pads that Danny had built. Called mandala pads. Tablas are the type of drums you are hearing him trigger on this song.

    The intro is volume swells with guitar in the left ear and bass in the right ear. The "world" drum sounds are Indian tablas. Danny Carey learned tabla from Aloke Dutta, and recreates their sound with electric pads.

    Practicing a section at a time mixed with muscle memory, and you can learn it in a few days even just as a moderate musician.
