Hi sista, I just wanted to let u in on my theory (actually very well documented) that the reason you get that overwhelming feeling when listening to certain elements of a song etc. Is due to the frequency. Everyone's body reacts uniquely different to certain frequencies. They can open or activate one or more Chakras in your being. Frequencies can help you focus, help you calm, and also actually help your body heal itself. Pay attention to the parts of your vertical axis next time you get a sensation from a song, where on the axis did it originate?? There may be more than one point. That is the Chakra that particular frequency opens in you!! Loved seeing your very honest reaction to this song. Tool has been a catalyst for me to re unite myself with my inner power and one ness with mother earth. Peace, Love and Trancendance be with you.
    Heather

      Hi, Heather ^_^/
I'm just seeing your comment :) Thank you for taking the time to write to me! I believe everything that you said. I believe that music can heal us, as well! When I first started, someone mentioned that I may have Synesthesia, but I am starting to think it is more of what you described, as I do not see colors, or smell scents, etc.
      * Edit - Addendum * While, I do not see colors and such, I *do* feel the music, or the frequency of the instruments moving around me/surrounding me. At times, it is as if I can see things (doesn't have a color... but I can feel it) moving in front of me, around me, on top of my head. Also, at times, it feels like the instruments, or the frequency of it all is... communicating with me. As if, we are having a conversation. It is a very interesting and visceral experience that is kind of difficult to explain.
Regardless of what it is... or if it has a name, I will continue to enjoy music as I do.
Peace, love and transcendence be with you, as well! ♥

I absolutely understand the “penetrating” character of those sustained notes. I don’t cry, but something no doubt taps into an unexplainable corner of my psyche. It’s largely why I listen to so much spacey/ ambient music (i.e. Stellardrone, Ascendent, Aleks Michalski). Tool’s Intension has a deep effect as well.

Danny Carrey (the drummer) has stated before that he bases a lot of his rhythms off of African style tribal music so maybe that is why your girlfriend or wife is having such a visceral reaction to TOOL's music; there might be something that is subconsciously familiar to her in it. By the way, you should play her BOTH parts of the 10,000 Days song and explain that it is about Maynard's mother and how she was bedridden for about 27 years or 10,000 days and how this two part song is Maynard's thesis and profound reverence and respect for his mother. If you do this make sure she has a full box of tissues within arms reach, she's gonna need them. Also, you two are a wonderfully resplendent couple.

Holy shit during lost keys I saw your reaction and thought, wow, that’s a very powerful reaction. You looked as if you could see the music in front of you, almost like you could reach out and touch it. I could even see you visualizing the music behind your eyelids. I think that’s when my subconscious started to pick up on synesthesia. My mom has the exact same reactions as you. She can also visualize music and constantly tells me about the colors she sees and the emotions she feels while listening to her favorite music. After you threw out that “synesthesia is real!” line, it finally clicked: you are definitely a synesthete

    • @HalfLifeSistah

      Hi Nicholas! ^_^/
I'm ten months late, but still...
Thank you for your comment, love! Actually, I do not see colors. I use to think I had synesthesia, based commenters, from when I first started doing reactions, but I kinda doubt if that is what it is. I pinned a comment; if you have time, please read Heather's comment. I think it is more of that.
While, I do not see colors and such, I *do* feel the music, or the frequency of the instruments moving around me/surrounding me.
Nonetheless, it is something I look forward to, but also get nervous for, lol. Not every song moves me, like for example, this Tool song.
Sending love and good vibes your way ♥

I can relate to her but I can't always tap into it. I gotta be comfortable and in private basically. But certain sounds and noises remind me of things or the combination lights up my imagination and I imagine a scene or world or something with the music. Lost Keys reminds me of the beginning of a trip. The calm before the storm. Before the beginning. But moreso, it takes me on a sad trip. But within Rosetta Stoned I can imagine the trip. Its ups and downs culminating in a beautiful revelation just to return to chaos of life. Trying to remember and hold on to the lesson or lessons to be taken from the trip. It's why it ties amazingly with the lyrics.

Try with the song "Abraxas" and you will be amazed with Lori Lewis' voice. Second is HAGGARD, I'm sure they will blow your mind. ¿The song? "Eppur si muove" could be a good start. Third and last (for the moment), the DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA (absolute craziness), with the song "A tapdancer's dillema". This song should be in a Tarantino movie xD...

And there are times, I don't even know what the song is about, or understand/make out the lyrics, but I can feel the meaning of the song by the way the instruments are played or by the instruments used 😌🙃💖

    Ha HalflLifesistah and Wolfkain,
I enjoy your response every time. You are both so passionate in your own way.
I wondered if you have ever heard of Ayreon, a project by Arjan Lucassen from the Netherlands. Over the years he has created various "rock operas" (symphonic metal / progressive rock). He composes everything himself and sets it to music. He then invites well-known musicians to play it on DVD and life. You can find the whole story on the internet.
He himself plays various instruments but from time to time he suffers from stagefright, so sometimes he is one of the performers and sometimes he isn't.
Floor Jansen is one of the participants. So I think you will be interested.

I just recently came across your videos and you guys are amazing! You've reacted to a few songs that I've been wanting to see a reaction to for a LONG time!! I really hope you read this:
I've been waiting for SOMEONE to react to the song:
Of Mice And Men - Another You
It's such an amazing and beautiful song about the singer Austin Carlile's mother that passed away when he was young from undiagnosed Marfan Syndrome [a genetic disorder of the connective tissue. They tend to be tall and extremely thin], which he's inherited. His voice is so strong and emotional for someone dealing with such a disorder.
If you do listen to the song: Just in case you don't notice, there's two singers. Austin normally does the "screaming" parts. The other's name is Aaron and he is now the lead of the band, creating new songs, since Austin left to take care of his health.
That song is my #1 that I want someone to react to so badly!! But then there's also Of Mice And Men's song called "When You Can't Sleep At Night" and it's also just such a beautiful ballad they created. I don't know the backstory to this one though 😅
Anywho, you two are amazing and I've now subscribed and hope to see plenty more reactions to come!!
    Have a great day 😁❤

Are you two still reacting to Tool? May I still request some for you both to react to? I love your depth and introspection into these songs. I truly wish to hear your reactions to the whole audio and lyrical story of his mother played out through 6 songs or so (depending on interpretation). I would say Jimmy off their Aenima album would be first. Most importantly though would be 10,000 days (wings for Marie) parts 1 and 2, those are a must if you can only take the time for one (2 technically). Let me know. I can go into the rest if tou request and give more detail if desired. Thank you for your care and consideration of these songs and my request.
