First of all, I watch a lot of reaction videos. But, now I’m watching yours. This is my new joint. You two are the most beautiful couple I have seen in a very long time. I mean it.
Steven Wilson is my favorite artist. This album and this song are among the most powerful and evocative he has ever written. I strongly recommend you see his performances live because if you think that was a powerful emotional experience, try sitting in a audience silently experiencing that song with extraordinary immersive visuals all around you. The entire crowd weeps and it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced.
This song hit me like it did you both when I saw the live performance just 3 months after my own wife’s death (we were together 24 years). I’m a white man and she was an African American woman. There’s so much about watching this reaction that touched me. I’m actually losing it a bit right now as i type this.
I encourage you to explore Steven Wilson’s catalog further as it just gets better and better. If you liked that song and video, I recommend Drive Home or The Raven That Refused to Sing from the album of the same name. Either of those will tear your heart out. Another emotional rollercoaster is I Drive the Hearse by Porcupine Tree, also written by Steven Wilson.

The album that this track comes from is a concept record. It is loosely inspired by the true story of the strange and tragic death of Joyce Carol Vincent.
Joyce was a British woman in her mid-30s who sadly died in her apartment back in 2003. What makes her death notable is that her remains were not discovered until _2006._
Three whole years passed without anyone noticing that Joyce wasn't around anymore. None of her friends, family, or coworkers ever took the time out to check and see if she was alright.
Steven Wilson has long been one of my favorite musical artists. I've been a big fan since 2001.
I have a recommendation for you: it's one of Steven's most well known and emotionally moving songs. It's called _The Raven That Refused to Sing._
If you ever end up doing a live reaction to it, then I feel pretty confident that I'll be crying along to it with you!

The Raven That Refused to Sing makes me bawl like a little baby. I was on a "trip" when I first really appreciated that song and I don't think I'll ever stop getting emotional when I hear it.

In the years preceding her death, she had increasingly cut contact with those in her life, so that when she died there was no further absence to notice. Her sister hired a private investigator to track her down after she'd moved, who did find her address, and so they sent letters, but given that she'd already been ignoring contact, it raised no further suspicion when she didn't reply. Only when bailiffs came to repossess the property due to increasing debt was her death discovered.
Hand. Cannot. Erase is an amazing album. This, Perfect Life, the title song, Happy Returns, so many amazing songs. is with Raven that Refused to sing(and other Stories ) my two favorite from him so far.
@@madseizon I have a few tracks like that. Mostly Frusciante's Empyrean. Peaked about 15-20 minutes in to the album and I've never had another musical experience like it. Drugs mayne.

Stephen Wilson is one of the master storytellers of our time.
For me, this is one of the rare instances where the music video enhances the song, and does so brilliantly. In so many cases the music video is just on the way of actually focusing on the music. This is a beautifully painted story that anyone can relate to, anyone willing to go there anyway, which isn't always easy. Also gotta give it up for Ninet and how well her voice fits Steven's music. Hope you guys get around to Porcupine Tree at some point, which is his previous band.

As are all of Steven's solo albums for the most part. One of the most prolific and talented song writers alive.

That moved me so much! I weeped irrepressibly for about half an hour.
I could relate to this song a lot. I've been to places like those (even not for the same reasons) holding on the day routine to keep on moving to avoid crumbling. And sometimes I would scream where no-one would hear me cry to kind of release some of the pain, even if the physical pain cannot be silenced.

I lost both parents this year to cancer. 4 months apart. After dad passed away, mom went on the decline a month later. I showed her this video/song. Changed the premise and grief of the story and it was lifted from her. Great song! Love Steven Wilson and all of his projects. 🤘

I've come back to this reaction so many times since it was released. I love it so much, for so many reasons. But honestly, my favorite part is when Wolf gently removes Sistah's ear buds after the song is done. "It's ok baby. It's ok." That simple action and those simple words convey such pure love and acceptance. It's quite possibly one of the most tender and romantic gestures I've ever witnessed. It's just so, so beautiful.
I am at the office doing a mundane job when I saw this video. The music and the video itself is powerful enough. But hearing you sobbing behind made it even more emotional. I'm bawling now.
I just need to say what a beautiful reaction you both had. I believe Steven himself would appreciate how moved you both were. I was honored to see him live at the Wiltern in Los Angeles in 2015 and this song was played. He ended with the equally brilliant The Raven That Refused To Sing and I can tell you that I really don't remember leaving the theater. His music has changed my life, allowed me to see a different perspective of life than I had been viewing. He said during the show that he "hated" happy music, preferred the melancholy and he's is truly the master of that art form. Genius comes in may guises, and many will not recognize it when they meet it. You obviously do. Thank you for your honesty, your integrity and your passion. I have subscribed.

Steven Wilson is easily my favourite song writer.
One of those rare songs that just moves everyone and makes a lot of people cry. It's even more powerful in the context of the whole album.
It gets me crying every time. I know it is coming and when the newspaper hits the floor I am reduced to a weeping puddle of tears. In an instant in time she lost her husband and 2 little boys. Her life is gone. Now existing day to day and that anger inside. I have been a Porcupine Tree fan for a very long time and know all of Steven's work. He is a musical genius. He introduced Jess Copes work in animation over several songs and always look forward to another video with them working together. I have requested other reaction channels to feature this song but no takers on an unknown song I guess. Great reaction to this video. I'm not the only one crying through it.

This is the one of the saddest moments I've ever experienced. Between the video and your reaction to it, the emotion cuts to the core of my being. How utterly amazing is Steve Wilson to have conceived of something so touching and yet vivid and real. Your reaction was so human and divine that you cannot help but to be moved. This life is experiential, friends. We are the universe and its creator, be it a God or whatever conscious entity you wish to label it, all experiencing itself. We are afforded all such emotions and experiences so as to be at one with all that provides us those means. We are more than the sum total of cells that comprise us. We are light and we are love. Live like you mean it my friends, because you deserve it.
SW is the king of melancholy and he has many, many songs that will bring out your emotions. His solo stuff has a tendency to be darker but there's plenty of PT songs that are very depressing. Weird that it can make you feel so good. It's hard to say where to start if you're interested in exploring more of his catalog, my favorite of his solo work is Grace for Drowning. On any album, it's not only the lyrics and subject matter, Steven also surrounds himself with some of the best musicians of our time, they know how to match the moods of the songs.

I went many years bottling up emotions due to peer pressure and people judging any time I show an ounce of emotion. When I saw this music video, I finally let it out and just cried. Those last two lines are, to me, about the contradiction inherent to grief - you have to move on, yet you should not forget. You let go, but you don’t let go.

"The Raven That Refused to Sing" is another Steven Wilson song for which I'd love to see your reaction... Maybe his best song.
I knew when she was tearing up before 7:50 she wasn't ready for that part. That song has put me in tears just like this many of times. Easily one of the best and I have so much respect for her for showing that emotion.

Not all of his music has the same depth of emotion, but almost all of it has the brilliant song writing and outstanding musicianship you see here. Please consider bringing more SW to your station, i assure you that you will find everything that you are looking for that you could ever ask from great music and then some. His music is always hauntingly beautiful and masterfully played by some of the most talented musicians in the world. Drive Home, The Watchmaker, Ancestral, The Raven that Refused to Sing, and Home Invasion Regret #9 are just a few of the tracks that will almost assuredly make it onto your favorites list in no time. Careful though, as some of them like Drive Home will hit you just as hard or harder than this track. You might have to rename the channel Makebrothacry! Thank you both a million times for sharing! Every time I watch this video or listen to this song my eyes get wet. It is so good! And I have seen a number of reaction videos to this song, but never as open and honest as this one. Thank you so much for being vulnerable, honest and open to your audience. I wish many more people would do that!

Best reaction to this song I've seen. I get waterworks going as well, not because of things that have passed but because of things that I know will pass.
There is nobody writing and performing music today that is better than Steven Wilson. A true artist who labors over both the music and the lyrics. It's not all "prog" either - he is incredibly diverse. Explore his catalog, but if you want to listen to a couple more sad, but beautiful songs, try The Raven that Refused to Sign, Postcard, or my favorite of his less "prog" songs, Lazerus (a Porcupine Tree song).
Possibly one of the most powerful and emotionally moving songs written. In isolation it’s a magnificent song, but when you see the video, it becomes an emotional masterpiece.
My 7 year old daughter hugged me tighter as we watched the video and said, “Don’t ever die Daddy”.
Saw this and thought omg these poor people are about to be crushed. I would love to see you react to Drive Home by Steven Wilson. Also one of my favorite tracks by him which has taken on a whole new feeling for me after losing my brother in a way similar to the video and the song. This song focus something so often is ignored. Routine can be a therapy and a prison at the same time. A therapy letting you avoid the issue at hand, but as it is letting you avoid it is just delaying to a moment further in time. The buildup of frustration on the song coming from the forced Routine she is having is amazing, and the final cry from Ninet Tayeb sounds so therapeutic at the end.

I love everything about this song and I'm really getting into your reaction videos. I'm male and masculine (active duty military, crush my physical training test every time I take it), yet I love and need songs like this. I shed some tears watching this song with y'all tonight.
For me it's not really about a shared experience. I've only lost one family member in my entire life: My grandfather, who was an absolutely amazing person (but that's another story) and who died when he was almost ninety after we all saw him decline for years...
But I have a daughter. The faintest idea of the remotest possibility that she could precede me into the grave is an absolutely overwhelming concept. Yes, she is a fictional character, but there are too many parents in this world, in this country, who have had to deal with the same pain.
A thousand miles away from me, my brother and his wife are going through such a nasty divorce that I have to worry daily about either of their safety. I have to worry more about their daughter, only a year younger than my own, who has to find a way live through their toxicity. Her life is devastated. There's no other way to describe it. But there's a shred of hope for her because of the sheer number of relatives (grandparents on both sides, aunts and uncles, myself included) who are ready to step in and do what it takes to give her a safe place to try and rebuild her life, if and when that becomes an eventuality.
But there is no shred of hope left for children who die. Too many in this day and age, in this country, do so as victims to senseless violence. Death is irrevocable, final. This song is about that and made more poignant through the lens of the mother they left behind. I can empathize with this despite never experiencing anything like it. There's nothing wrong with shedding a tear about it.

So envy me, cause I recently saw Hamferđ (doomish Faroen Band with an amazing singer) and I litterally cried from the first sung note of his clean voice till the end of the concert. It was like gaining back the pit of your stomach in exchange for your skin. After such an experience, all you can do is love.

The first time I heard this song, it was sad and all but I bore through it like many other sad songs. NOW I'm a father of two and the fears that this song evokes in me are intolerable. No parent should experience the pain and suffering of losing their children.
