Clem Burke was my inspiration to take up drumming and this song in particular was the one that got me hooked. Such energy and class. Pure banging dude!
JUST A P. S. HES NOT HE MOST HUMBLE,(OR FRIENDLY) PERSON I EVER MET. KINDA STUCK ON HIMSELF, ACTUALLY.SO SAD.... HES FANTASTIC AND NAUSEATING AT THE SAME TIME....HMMMMM
@@davethompson8283 Just had to comment with a few words in defence of Clem. I've met him a couple of times after a show in Sydney and at Heathrow airport. I found him to be completely the opposite, he was approachable and very down to earth, a friendly guy. A friend of mine is a professional drummer and his band supported Blondie on tour in the USA in the 80's. My friend had nothing but good things to say about Clem. Jimmy Destri is also one of the most friendly down to earth people you can meet. Great with the fans, just comes across as a really nice guy. Charlie Foxx is also very approachable, friendly and down to earth.
She's still got it. I was at her Toronto concert a few days before she got to NY on this tour. She ran out on the stage and started with this song. The stage was swarmed by kids in their teens and early 20's. One threw a great big gerbera daisy on stage. She picked it up, looked at it and said, 'How sweet' and then proceeded to bite the head off it, chew it up and spit it out. The crowd when nuts.
This version sends chills....so crisp .....wow,Deb.... You did it this time,dear....Clem who? I didn't even hear him this time...LMAO You may not be a debutante, but I love you anyway, BLONDIE...
They’re killing it! Those drums are banging as hard as Debbie’s lips. Brilliantly written and composed. Feels simple but it’s complex and it levitates me.
Every aspect made this song a rarity and many they recorded.Chris with banjo picking, causes a odd control that only can be done his manner. It caused a odd spotty talented sound that was a must.To much of somebody else, may have changed the feel of the song.He fit perfect, writing and doing just enough so the team became what was, PERFECTION..They all got it done, every era.
Go listen to the show where Chris was not present and Tommy had to do both parts, was NOTHING like what we know. Chris and his finger pick mellow backing rhythm is so intricate, without his timing the songs are nothing close to the magic we know. Each member contributed something that cannot be missed.
I have watched different videos on here of this song and alot of the comments are on Clem's fantastic drumming. When I was young and listened to this song on the radio all I could think about was how the drums carry this song from start to finish. Beautiful.
.............Debbie....totally feminine, yet ruled the band, cuz the lads all respected her, plus she let Clem be a lad and them all be lads, clever lady....
Good ear, your right...There sure were times sound had her to low and she would compensate, starting with her mids just to be heard, inflame her voice for night..I think it happened most at outdoor venues. She still went on,no Russy's in R-n-R....When she is set proper, she still can hit anything .MAGIC!!!
I went to a Joe Jackson concert in NYC back in the height of the ne wave Era clem Burke sat in front of me he was very social I didn't realize till years later I was privileged to meet and talk to a iconic drummer.
Blondie is so engrained in my mind and connected to 80s fun. College Frat parties, Spring Break in Ensenada Mexico at Papa’s n Beer concerts...people forget she was pretty punk and she(Debbie Harry) looks great here in 2k. Many wonderful memories hearing them on 91X ....”rock of the 80s”. Ninety-ONE Exxxxxxx!!
Easily their best song. Been listening to them for 40 yrs and I always liked the track... but yes, after watching The Deuce, I came back to the original video and I was hooked. Burke defintely channels his inner Keith Moon on the original clip as well as this one.
granted, I've not looked very hard, but this is the first "real" live video I've seen, that isn't lip syncing like an Mtv Vid. Always wondered how much aid Debbie was receiving from production techniques. I was impressed...this is her singing straight up and she was strong...twenty years after the group was in it's prime.
I’m a British guy into heavy rock who loves all the great UK rock drummers-Bonham/Ward/Mcbrain/Paice,-but have to say Clem just about the best I’ve seen!
Fellow Drummers: I believe Clem has the same affliction I do and that Ringo Starr does. Playing our rhythms as a right-handed drummer but beginning fills as a left-handed drummer. Never noticed until I came across this video as I have to learn this song after all of these years. I'm excited about it.
Elvis Ramone aka Clem Burke is one of my top five drummers of all time. In the video Accidents Never Happen he actually plays his skull. Friggin insane.🤘
Clem Berke may have drummed at the manger, It seems like I remember me and a couple of my buddies rode half way across the desert to hear him play. hah hah hah, well played , Mr. Burke!
It's interesting she changes the lyrics at the end. In all the early versions of this song, for decades actually, she sang the lyrics, "Imagine something of your very own, something you can have and hold." But in this version she changes it to, "Imagine someone of your very own, someone you can have and hold."

Clem Burke is one of the most underrated drummers, ever. He’s one of the best!
There should be a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just for this drummer.
100% pure energy.
he drives the band!
THERE WOULD BE NO BLONDIE WITHOUT DEBORAH...SHE DOESNT EVEN NEED A DRUMMER....

This drummer is incredible.......
I think he’s the best ever in the pop/dance genre that made unconventional yet super catchy style mainstream. Wonderful drummer.
Clem Burke. Played with several New Wave/Punk Bands. Very under rated.
IF YOU MET HIM...YOUD KNOW HE'S A CONCEITED PRICK.
Blondie is great.. but the drummer is freakin awesome
Clem is the shit.

Really? Awesome ,thanks for sharing tidbit...
Pure punk
No she doesn't. She's horrible live. Sounded like a dying frog when I heard her walking by in 2013 riotfest.

I can't believe how good the drummer is .. his intensity .. he is awesome ...
Here stage presence is just amazing, and Clem Burke is an animal on drums
once again, the drumming and not the guitar ending made this song great.
Saul Garcia Yea! You know the drumming is incredible when you almost want to watch Clem more than Debbie! Split screen for Dreaming!

Clem Burke recorded this song as his tribute to Keith Moon shortly after he passed
28if Their records were very polished. The first time I saw them live, I had no idea was such an animal behind the drum kit.

Clem Burke* the drummer. For the Y and Z generation of new listeners and fans of Blondie.
