Along with Ann Wilson, Deborah Harry had one of the best female voices in rock. No auto tune, no back up singers, just standing there and effortlessly knocking it out of the park.

Debbie never had the range that Ann Wilson did in her younger days. Ann was in a choir and also studied opera in her youth. I don't believe Debbie had that experience or any voice training, but that being said I love Debbie's unpretentious singing and stage presence.

I understand what you mean here, but I have to disagree. I don’t think they are underrated. They were massive with youth culture in the early 80s and have influenced countless musicians and artists in the subsequent generations. I think they get the credit they deserve as a band. In fact, I once heard VH1 make the absolutely ludicrous claim that blondie helped pioneer rap with “Rapture”.

Best looking female lead singer of all time was Suzanna Hoffs of The Bangles (and she was no slouch vocally.) Also can't forget Stevie Nicks, the Wilson sisters from Heart, Cher & Linda Ronstadt.
Later on you had Madonna, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Shania Twain, Nicole Scherzinger, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and many, many other beautiful and talented female singers.

@@EricaEchos, these things are of course subjective. Some of those women you list were / are very attractive I agree, Shania especially - and I can name some more - but Deborah Harry was already 32 years old when Blondie became known. Just in awe of how strong and distinctive a voice she had back then singing live - in a different league to many modern artists that need help to sound good. Not in any way lesser than the recorded vesion either, just slightly different, a little slower and very melodic. Even with the dubious quality of the sound recording it is amazing to hear, as is the poweful drumming by Clem. Would have loved to be at this gig, but I was only 15.

he's this great mixture of keith moon and ringo. moon in terms of energy but like ringo, he has a feel for what he brings to the song.

I was 16 years old and in total awe of them. No one has even come close since. I watched it all unfold live, in Europe, as i served from 1981 to 1984. My kids ask me about those times constantly.
