🎊💐🙋🏽♀️💐🎊A million thanks for leaving your begonia tutorial on RUclips. I watched every second of it. You have given me wonderful instructions to follow. I was gifted a six-foot tall Begonia Maculata that needs pruning. And now I know what to do. Thank you very much! Date: July 17, 2023 from Columbus, Georgia
Wow! I didn't it could live in water. Thanks for sharing this info.I would try to root my angel wiring in water. I appreciate you sharing this video 👏. 👏
After three months of rooting my angel wing spotted begonia cuttings in water I was ready to locate information on potting. Your video is so helpful as well as fun to watch. By the way, my maiden last name is Sutherland and I enjoy your Scottish accent so much! I live in Virginia, USA.
Good video I'm going to lop the top off mine. I've always loved these plants but they seemed expensive. I love your Scottish accent, you could make audio books❤
Hiya, Jess. Yeah, it took me a wee while to work out how to effectively prune my came begonias. They do get huge! My mother plant has taken up half of my living room 😅
Thanks for sharing your very informative vedio on propagation the begonia plants I. Didn’t know you can propagate that kind of plants very beautiful plants new subscribers watching from California stay safe
I love you voice 🥰 and thank you for the tips. I love my begonias. Last spring I propagated and it took FOREVER. This spring, I got roots so quickly. Funny hey. Same plant. Same method.
A tip for much faster rooting with begonias is to place them in an opaque container vs clear. Also pop a pothos cutting in there! It will cut rooting time in half! Beautiful plant!
I couldn't be more excited for this! I first saw you on the programme 'The beech Grove Garden' and just thought you were the coolest! Thanks for sharing your plant love 🌿🌱🌿🌱
Thanks for commenting ♥️ I'm glad you enjoyed it! The cuttings I took already have enough established roots to pot on. Cane begonias are just wonderful.
Miss Lucy, So very grateful for the video. I’m on my second spotted Angel wing. The first was tortured by her new owner for just a year. Would you please help me to understand why new leaves start curled up and twisted? I’m sure it’s something to do with my lack of experience. You’d be the first of several many experts to help me better understand. Thank you
I'm on my fourth Begonia Maculata so I would love to be able to propagate but I need to get the plant healthy enough where I'm able to do that. Although I have changed spots each time I got a new plant I think I've been putting them too close to the window. Your plants are so healthy! That Trio Star is amazing! Thank you for the info. I am inspired to keep going at it..
Love this video and your accent haha Have you or anyone here tried to cut without the node? Just the leaf and it’s stem. Also curious to see how the mother plant grow with the spot you cut it from ?
I bought my first begonia maculata and even though I tried the indirect light, wait until the soil is almost dried… the plant ended up loosing all of its leaves :( the stem is still green, I took out the soil as it seemed to be really compact and re-planted it, is there anything I can do to keep it from dying? This is my absolute favorite plant and I really want to be able to care for them so that I can get more! Thank you! Your video was so inspiring!
Thanks for the great video! Just wondering what type of fertilizer you use on your established begonias, or other tropicals in general. Is a general 20-20-20 NPK ok?
Thank you for commenting! I'm so glad the Glasgow plant swap community have turned up, honestly my favourite Facebook group. My plant knowledge started as a way to procrastinate university work and now has became a full on obsession. Hopefully doing my practical horticulture certificate when this madness is all over ♥️☺️
Hey Lucy, I really liked your video! I was recently gifted just the stem of a begonia maculata. My friend decided to shop hers up and sell all cuttlings, but gave me the stem of it. Its about 25-30cm long. Do you think it would have any chance at propagating in water? Should I split it in half? It's got a node in the middle so I'm hoping to get something out of it. Please let me know :) Greeting from Berlin, Germany ☀️✨🌱
Hi there! Were you able to propagate the stem? I would like to do the same with the bottom stems of my plant, but don't want to cut the tops off before I know if the bottom stems will grow with no leaves.
Hi there I'm wondering if you can propagate them from leaf cuttings? I know you can do that with other Begonias but I'm not sure about Begonia maculata.
I stumbled upon your channel and I just have to say…..girl that stromanthe triostar! I’m working on rehabbing one now. If you ever come back to you tube I would love to see if you still have this plant and if you do, how to care well for it. Thank you for your content and hope to see you you back someday :)
My leaves keep drying out on the edges. My Begonia looks more like straggly plant. She does shed and grow new leave frequently yet still very bare... please advise?
Can I do wet stick propagations with these? I have some that lost lower leaves during shipping and I am propagating them tops but don’t want to just toss the long stems
@@gingersmith2888 it was kind of hit or miss for me. I tried rooting some in sphagnum moss and they quickly rotted, and other I just threw in a jar of water and they started pushing out new growth from the nodes
The lower leaves of my begonia have fallen off. Can I prune the plant if there are no leaves on it? That is, cut off the top leaves and propogate those with the hope that leaves will grow back on the original stem?
Did you find something that worked for you? I am trying to find out the same thing. Before I start cutting the tops off, I want to make sure the bottom part of the stems with no leaves will continue to grow.
I just placed my cutting in water yesterday and I woke up this morning to all of the leaves wilting and crinkling? 😭😭😭 any ideas why? Could it be cold damage from the transplant?
Hi I just received a fully rooted cutting and just potted and have it sitting close to grow lights. I noticed the plant looks a little droopy and I'm wondering if this is normal?
Hi Lucy, thanks for such a helpful video. Your begonia is a real beauty! :) Can I ask if you've ever had problems with the leaves browning in the middle where they meet the stem and then dropping right off? Mine keeps doing that and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
thank you! of the first 5 videos I watched this is the one that you demonstrated exactly where to cut to prop.
Very good tips. I am still learning how to care for my begonia. Thank you.
I just wanted to find out how to propagate my begonia - but you are so lovely to watch! Can’t wait to see your other videos 🥰

What if I wanted to keep it in water or maybe in leca?
I only knew 2 words before I watched this video, now I know 3!

Just trying this now. Popped them right in to my fish tank filter to root.
Thanks for your video.i just bought one of these. Can cuttings be made at any time of the year or should I wait till the spring? Thank you.

Hi there. With the cutting, do you stick the growth point in the water as well or only the lower part of the stem?

Hi Lucy! Thank you for your video. How long do you usually wait to water after planting?
Hi I just received a fully rooted cutting and just potted and have it sitting close to grow lights. I noticed the plant looks a little droopy and I'm wondering if this is normal?
It's a shame she hasn't done recent videos......... 😢
Seller I bought it from said begonia loves moist soil and a lot of peat moss. Now I’m confused cause terra cotta pot will dry out soil so fast
Hi Lucy, thanks for such a helpful video. Your begonia is a real beauty! :) Can I ask if you've ever had problems with the leaves browning in the middle where they meet the stem and then dropping right off? Mine keeps doing that and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
This happens to me when I have pests. Idk if there are other reasons but I had thrips.
Traaductiôn francais merci .
Do you add hormones or anything or just water?
I have an angel that I think is going to die, I have tried everything but I am not a quitter. They are so beautiful especially yours.
Did you have problems transferring to soil? They are hydro roots not soil roots. Did the plant die?
I was wondering that too. Looks like she waited way to long to pot them.
My new leaves are all red and not green, but mine is in a window.
Why my begonias are not blooming
Have you tried fertilising them?
in love with you, your accent, and knowledge. Are you single? 😁 JK
