i went into my program at school to be able to work on stuff like this and i just am so glad to see i made a good choice and that mechatronics will be there for a while in shoe manufacturing
Obviously, I think we're all skeptical about the durability of this upper. Who cares about the carbon footprint of the manufacturing of a shoe if it's single-use, or the upper tears after putting it on and taking it off four times. If it lasts 400-1000 miles as a running shoe, then years more as a walking shoe, then they've done something incredible. If not, they've net INCREASED their carbon emissions and created more microplastics, by making a more frequently disposed product (like how the foam of most on cloud shoes breaks down prematurely compared to other brands because it has less material overall [the holes]).
i hope this technology becomes personalized for end consumers in future iterations. this would be life changing for folks with oddly shaped feet, such as myself. our options are limited... i cant wear flips flops everywhere 😂
Very interesting! Would be incredible to somehow be able to scan my own foot and create a last from that, then use this spray on tech to create a 1 of 1 fit!
@@jsteuwe That is actually very surprising. I would've thought that a unique last would accommodate any individual nuances a foot may have, to allow for a perfect fit.
What an awesome concept, cant wait to try these. Since you guys managed to work so fast, will these then be cheaper or will you price and milk them like everyone else?
I am intrigued by the concept, but a big question I have is about the durability of the upper, and how that compares to more conventional mesh or stretch fabric upper materials. I would assume the developers have looked very carefully at this, but they don't address it in the video. They also didn't say how the shoe performed in that race in April, just shared some social media posts that alluded to it doing well. I don't expect to hear that an athlete won the race in the shoe, but I would like to know how the shoe held up and performed in terms of durability, comfort, breathability, etc. I would also like to know a bit more about the midsole that this revolutionary upper has been build on, because in an ideal world, the revolutionary upper has been given a fighting chance of making a real difference by being moulded onto an equally cutting edge midsole. (On that, in one scene in the video, they appeared to be spraying the bottom of a shoe. Would love to know what that was about.)
This is for a lightweight shoe, race shoe Will this material be layered and layered for something like a sturdy work shoe? Still lightweight, but less co2. What are all the possibilities you are looking into?
Nothing is private anymore. The things we need or want kept quiet are the things even the one things told at first chance. So happy that I don't have any serious things that have j Held the parts together àll these years...that anyone knows of anyone knows of anyway...lolololy
I am dreaming of having an ON shoes regardless of what model but it's so expensive and very limited availability anywhere. It's like I don't have a choice but buy the big brands which is readily available and got no choice. 😢
All major brands make "athletic" shoes from foam and mesh, In some factory in China. Basically overpriced Sketchers. Now you have a robot spraying a shoe out of a spray can? Now its even less material going into a shoe and at a higher price.😂
This is an amazing technology break thru! What a revolution! Save all the weaving, cuting, sewing!!!! Thank you for making the world a better place!
On has just stepped up their game big time.

Johannes is an innovator supported by other innovators. Fantastic story to another groundbreaking product. This is why I love supporting On!
Congrats to johannes and team.
We are proud having been a part of this story and will still be. Looking forward to all things to come.

As a self-confessed running shoe nerd, this literally gave me goosebumps 🤣
Wait until you try them on 🤩
Agreed!!
@ausroadrunnersocks
Agreed with goosebumps. I’d love to try these, the price point is what drives me away.
On, great content I loved it
Spider-Man would be proud!
now THIS is innovation.
Adiddas, take notes please.
J.M. HARPER, u r a legend
Remind me of "Spray on Shoes" from Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
this was my first thought
i went into my program at school to be able to work on stuff like this and i just am so glad to see i made a good choice and that mechatronics will be there for a while in shoe manufacturing
Just amazing!!!
Amazing!!! Congratulations!
Amazing!!
Love that you are using Rhino Grasshopper :)
So amazing this is gonna replace all nikes adidas forever. Just how it looks, can't wait on to grow global far and wide. Wishing the whole team luck!
Legends !
That is sensational 😮❤
Flint Lockwood would be proud
cant wait to try these❤

Will definitely get the spike version when they drop
Exciting
Awesome🎉

Look into zellerfeld shoes! they're doing exactly what you described using the lidar sensors on recent iPhones.
Shouldn’t be too difficult with a 3d scanner and 3d printer ! 🙂
We can technically do that now, the problem is making it comfortable. Not always are 1:1 lasts comfortable (shockingly enough)
@@jsteuwe That is actually very surprising. I would've thought that a unique last would accommodate any individual nuances a foot may have, to allow for a perfect fit.
@@benoosthuizen4961 I think the difficulty there would be finding whatever material they're using as the spray. I'm assuming it's proprietary.
I want one immediately
can't wait to run in these
Ready to revolutionize your run?
@@On-Running Yes !!!!

How durable is it? will it stretch? break? can you wash it?
Congrats on a fantastic achievement. It looks really new and revolutionary, and I'm really looking forward to learning more about it.
Thanks for the love! Get ready for a new era ⏩
Inspiring.
Okay, I am intrigued BIG TIME, though not a runner, But what about daily wear?
This concept will trend in china next year 2026 .
Interesting how simplicity is better when it comes to designing wearables
@6:40 I love how they have a cheap ass ender 3 in the background lmao

When are they actually coming out or expected 🤔
this is very cool. i'm curious as to what the ROI of a project like this looks like!
Eventually, probably pretty good, as the shoes will need to be disposed of and bought more frequently lol.
Would be good to see the Kenyans using this or even Ugandan runners. You’ve truly broken the stereotype with this design of how a running shoe is made
Let’s not act like Flintlock Wood didn’t start this
When will be this shoe available in Indonesia? 👀
On just made a huge steps in inovation
When are they releasing??
When are they releasing?
Helen Obiri wore to win right?
WOW!
that's it guys
spray on shoes are real

that's just the upper, what matters is the foam and structure
How do you get them off, nerd!?
Freaking amazing. But aren't these customized for each individual? How will you get the mold of the customer's foot?
Ima take off my Alphafly 3 laces and I almost get the same thing.
Hopefully the next step in running shoe engineering is 50$ shoes instead of 300$ cotton candy
Game Changer technology

So how do they make money selling these to nurses?
Chance of meatballs real life shoes
The question is, do you sell this tech to Nike for billions or do you become a multibillion dollar company.
amazing, but the toe box on your shoes doesn't accommodate my foot shape 😑
The most unconformable shoes are the ones with no laces only if you scan your own foot and creat a shoes from that print
Shoeman Beings
I Light Spray every night after eating Taco Bell.
This was already invented by Flint Lockwood
It's shame they're not bespoke.
Thanks, but Converse is still enough shoe for me.
330€ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting my hot glue gun out of storage 😂
Wasted 8 minutes trying to see 30 seconds of the shoe being made.
On shoes are overpriced and aren't durable.
Go buy some barefoot shoes. Last forever
Nike adidas is pathetic
ummm... someone thell these deekwads laceless shoes have been around for decades
Do we have a date !? 🥹

"a glove around the foot"? Ummm... guy, it's called a SOCK 🤣🤦♂️🤦♂️
