Roger is A Brand on his own. He is a great case study on how to use/market your name and build that image as a buisness to attract the right corporate 💰 Didn't JayZ say " HE is a buisness, man"
Nike's sales has gone down for a long time. Their stocks are also down. Bad management for years! The only person who really brought up Nike was Michael Jordan! And even if he had shares (as part of the MJ's demands because he really wants Adidas from the start as it is more comfortable for his feet), the sales overall soared and Nike was in business for decades!
Healthcare workers on their feet all day swear by hokas and on running as their hospital shoe for comfort. They hit a big market there, I know a lot of people switching over to on running from hokas
@@charlottefarrant7847 @huzcer they basically did drop him, offered him a deal they knew he wouldn’t take, just a polite way of dropping out a long term relationship
Nike's paying that mistake big time now as On is really eating up on their sales. I guess they thought they were too big to bow down to whatever RF was asking and thought he's washed up and in no position to negotiate hard. Serves them right now I think.
Kinda ironic because on’s quality is terrible. My dad bought on shoes and the bottom started to come off and he’s not even a runner or something. Also, look at Shelton when he’s playing, his clothing looks like it’s ultra sticky and low quality. Uni qlo is very good tho.
Federer helped On take off but it's carrying itself actually. I bought the Roger Pro's originally for tennis. After my influencer bro got sponsored running shoes from them, I tried them out when my old Nikes wore out during a trip, switching from Nike Zoom X and React foam to Cloudmonster. While not as soft and plush as Nike foam, the energy rebound exceeds everything else noticeably. I was able to walk 30k steps on uneven road with minimal discomfort, and walking inside malls made every step feel bouncy at first. People who try On are repeat customers because of the product design. This is true of anything really. MK was very popular for awhile because of many celebrity endorsements. Once that wore off, it's gone the discount mass-market route because there really wasn't anything special about them.
Love the way Federer does marketing, impressive. He wanted to invest to make money, first and foremost. He did the same thing with Uniqlo. Nike btw, has gone down in quality. And no, ON has still a long way to go to compete with the bigger brands. And to give free info to Federer and ON, their reliability is not great.
Long way to go for ON. And, also, "ON" is a stupid name because the word "on" is a common preposition and a common noun in English... so it becomes difficult for searches!
Clothing design is not appealing for me personally. Federer outfit with nike is by far better design. On clothing is far from nice or even iconic. Need to change designers
I tried their Roger Pro tennis shoes... hands down the worst tennis shoes I ever owned. Very stiff and unforgiving, I developed strains everywhere, toes, soles, ankles, and knees. Never had these issues before. Got me thinking this shoe was probably a contributing factor in Rogers injury. Anyway, maybe the Roger Pro 2 is better. But this one is the worst mistake I've made to my body, in this game ever.
@@HYousif-u6s yeah based on what I researched, the original Roger Pro was tough. Not enough support and too wide. I hope it didn’t contribute to Rogers injury, but I wouldn’t think Roger would take any risks with his body later in his career. Just goes to show how important the feet are in tennis!
I guess even Adidas suffered with this when it comes to their daily running shoes. Professional atheletes have a different level of fitness and have different requirements as compared to the hobbyists. Their recent running shoes were designed by taking the professional athlete's needs/feedback into consideration I guess. Might have worked for the pros, but generally they were hated by the casual runners. Now they've started to tune the shoes to suit everyday runner's needs I feel.
I've been on the fence of buying a pair just because I like the style and minimalistic color that shoe provide. Often with tennis shoes the design and color is too much. But after weeks of reseaching and reading/watching reviews of the Rogers line I can comfortable say I will not get a pair. The common review is how quick the outsole wear out for a shoe in the $150-$200 price point. I hope they make better tennis shoe in the future.
"ON's apparel is fresh, their colorways are unique and eye-catching" .......said nobody ever, lol. Swiatek's kits have been constantly roasted by tennis fans and even on a functionality level they're constantly sticking to players' bodies when they sweat. Shelton often looks like he just took a head to toe bath on the tennis court.
I have not tried ON shoes. But honestly their logo sucks. Like for a long time I used to ask myself, what is this brand DQ iga and Ben are wearing. Only few weeks back I realised that you have to read it top to bottom. I would not pay premium for this brand if the quality is not worth the price.
Nike got his best years bro, every slam won with a Nike badge head to toe. A retired athlete doesn’t have the same power, they now have alcaraz and would be better paying him a boatload instead of a retired player
@@kingcuckoo who is going to attract and relate to the younger audience currently and for the next 10-20 years to buy Nike clothes? 20 year old alcaraz or 43 year old Swiss billionaire, hmm tough one
Back when Nadal had hair and Sharapova was hot. A long time ago now! On are not much value for what they are. They are hyped now but mainly a lot of Federer bandwagon people just buying without thinking.
That’s called marketing.. same thing Nike did 40yrs ago.. catch up buddy. Product is one thing, market appeal is another one. It’s like saying a LV bag is worth it at $4k… of course it’s not it’s only worth maybe $200… the rest is marketing and brand preservation…
These are visually unappealing fadish shoes. Roger will need to keep a presence to keep the brand afloat. I predict a short brand life compared to a Nike.
On is a running brand. Then, stay a running brand. Don't launch a sports brand specifically targeting one niche, and then suddenly want to capitalise once you notice the brand is catching on.
In the UK, On is favoured by yummy mummies and their wealthy husbands, as well as those who aspire to be part of that demographic. Other signifiers: cockapoo dog, huge diamond engagement ring, Lululemon leggings, £1,000 pushchair with a loaf of Gail's Bakery bread on top, toddler who calls a cup of warm milk a "babycino".
Never been cool, never will be cool. Sneakers for old people who think they are soo trendy and cool. Look at the people wearing this crab. Nerds wearing glasses, dads and other people who never had any style. Perfect uncool people indicator shoe.

Nike didn't want to match Uniqlo's offer which we kinda understand. Uniqlo just really really has a good deal.
ON needs to be more creative with the style of their products. The performance of their running shoes are excellent.

Nike didn't drop Federer. He decided not to sign the deal they offered and went with Uniqlo and later with On shoes.
