Roger Federer is making On Running the coolest brand in tennis
Просмотров 90 тыс.Месяц назад
Roger Federer was Nike's golden child for 20 years. That's why in 2019, fans were shocked to learn his deal with Nike ended. This opened the door for a new brand to attach themselves to the GOAT. Enter, On Running. Over the last 5 years, the Swiss shoemaker has harnessed "The Roger Federer Effect" to boost sales and break into a new market. Here's how Roger Federer is making On Running the cool...
How Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova's rivalry turned ugly
Просмотров 160 тыс.2 месяца назад
When Maria Sharapova defeated Serena Williams to win Wimbledon at just 17-years-old, the sports world prepared for a long and competitive rivalry between the two women. But as the rivalry became lopsided, the media painted a different picture of Serena and Maria. A feud emerged in 2013, and the two women became enemies.
Can Carlos Alcaraz achieve the esteemed Channel Slam?

Carlos Alcaraz just won the French Open. Now, he turns his attention to the grass in hopes of achieving the Channel Slam. Only three men have pulled it off since 1980, can Alcaraz become the fourth? @thetennistalk @TheWorldofTennisYT @Tenniswithdylan
Why does Novak Djokovic wear one color at Roland Garros?
Просмотров 6443 месяца назад
Novak Djokovic has adopted a very specific strategy at the Majors. Wear red at Roland Garros. Wear blue everywhere else. Is the strategy rooted in superstition...or something more?
I love fedx but the shoes feels so stiff. Ended up getting hoka
I. Love. This. Video. Came to your channel for the serena/maria vid but here your enthusiasm for Coco and the sport is palpable. Cant wait for your future videos!
Still crazy how stunning Maria looked back in the day.
It's not fair to have a man playing against Sharapova
I heard that their rivalry (outside the court) started when they were both dating or wanting to date the same man namely Dimitrov and Maria Sharapova won that one hands down.

👏 awesome video essay. Thank you for the great content 😊
Thank you!
Awesome video!
Thanks so much!
Take out (full career analysis) for algo purposes
Thanks for the feedback! What about "(full career analysis)" is bad for algorithm? Genuine curiosity, still new to this!
video on roddick or nalbandian would be great
The Media! No more honesty in reporting.
It’s odd you make a point to criticize media creating a narrative between female athletes and simultaneously create your own for this video.
I like to watch how nice they played tenis.❤
She greatest
keep these videos coming!! 👏
He can, and he did
Serena’s record speaks for itself. Sharapovas record is tainted with drug use. Serena owned Sharapova!
Serena seriously beat her ass on the Olympic stage!!
well Pat Cash is obviously a lost idiot
Now you know the only thing these types of videos stir up is racial wars! You may not create the content for that but you know it’s gonna happen! I get so sick of this shit!
Serena has shut so many doubters and haters up for 2 decades ❤
On is a running brand. Then, stay a running brand. Don't launch a sports brand specifically targeting one niche, and then suddenly want to capitalise once you notice the brand is catching on.
.....simply put because she white. Serena had to fight since she enter the sport being called all sorts of name and on and on etc. No athlete wants to loose. She is the GOAT!
Imagine being beaten 18 times by the same person in a row damn
Not a rivalry, just utter dominance
Healthcare workers on their feet all day swear by hokas and on running as their hospital shoe for comfort. They hit a big market there, I know a lot of people switching over to on running from hokas
Never been cool, never will be cool. Sneakers for old people who think they are soo trendy and cool. Look at the people wearing this crab. Nerds wearing glasses, dads and other people who never had any style. Perfect uncool people indicator shoe.
you don’t mention until quite late in this upload that Serena’s sister, Yetunde, was brutally murdered in autumn 2003. Serena was suffering from clinical depression and the effects of the knee injury (- and subsequent surgery) that she endured in summer 2003. Officials at the very the top of WTA placed pressure on Serena to return to the tour before she was physically or mentally ready to return. why? - money and tour sponsorship. television ratings dropped heavily when the Williams sisters were absent from the tour. Serena was a shadow of the player that she had been ^until she began training again, seriously, in the late spring of 2006. in 2004 she suffered losses to players, all the way through to early 2006 that were unthinkable in the previous years. Serena was also hitting fewer winners and more unforced errors in her matches during this period. any top 20 - ranked player could have defeated Serena in the Wimbledon 2004 final. Serena was very fortunate to get past Amélie Mauresmo in an ugly three-set final showcasing how badly Serena’s footwork [and overall game] had degraded. it is important to place all of these things into perspective. i know more about the background because i have met people inside professional tennis. Serena did not ‘hate’ Maria at all - she could not forgive **herself for losing the Wimbledon final and allowing the entire tennis establishment to wallow in what it had long desired, with intensity: the ‘end’ of the Williams sisters and the establishment of a glamorous young (~ white) player that appealed to middle-aged and older men. middle-aged and older make journalists that, for most part, detested Serena Williams and disliked both Williams sisters. the reality is that Serena she could not forgive herself for allowing the tennis establishment to celebrate and glorify her demise. Serena, in her mind, had to correct that. There was an intensity to Serena’s matches with Sharapova matches but i would contend that this was far more to do with Sharapova and pressure placed upon her [by her father, two particular coaches and the agent ME] to achieve a win against a player that simply had far greater weapons, significantly greater weight of shot and [a player that] simply hit more winners, frequently far more winners.
Not a rivalry, after 2004, it was a wrap for Sharapova. Some matches looked like Sharapova has NO business on the same court as Serena!
That's cuz Maria was model ready. Let's get real buddy.
Rivalry 😅👍🏿
There's nothing cool about Federer's constant money grabs. The man's thirst for wealth knows no bounds!
When you started talking about the sudden rise or “mania” as described in the video, I expected you to point out why she, rather than Serena, was suddenly such a high-earning athlete. You didn’t contextualise the racial factor, especially regarding the early 2000s, in any way. Any educated person would have the critical thinking skills to at least acknowledge the blatant racism here. It’s incredibly disappointing how you kept teetering along the line but never made the serve. As first impressions go, this video is not good enough. good.
So...who's dumb enough to believe what a news site says when the words don't come from the source? The media are just as dumb as their believers. Moving on.
Roger is A Brand on his own. He is a great case study on how to use/market your name and build that image as a buisness to attract the right corporate 💰 Didn't JayZ say " HE is a buisness, man"
Sold!
Rivalry?? Please be serious.
You are so right that the media loves to pit two women against each other and call it a rivalry. It makes for a good story.
Great Video bro! Keep it up!
Federer helped On take off but it's carrying itself actually. I bought the Roger Pro's originally for tennis. After my influencer bro got sponsored running shoes from them, I tried them out when my old Nikes wore out during a trip, switching from Nike Zoom X and React foam to Cloudmonster. While not as soft and plush as Nike foam, the energy rebound exceeds everything else noticeably. I was able to walk 30k steps on uneven road with minimal discomfort, and walking inside malls made every step feel bouncy at first. People who try On are repeat customers because of the product design. This is true of anything really. MK was very popular for awhile because of many celebrity endorsements. Once that wore off, it's gone the discount mass-market route because there really wasn't anything special about them.
Samr with Clarice Shields.
Sharapova was a glorified Ana Kournikova.
Roger's destiny is that everything he touches turns into gold like King Midas! He also chooses brand wisely that has more quality
Kinda ironic because on’s quality is terrible. My dad bought on shoes and the bottom started to come off and he’s not even a runner or something. Also, look at Shelton when he’s playing, his clothing looks like it’s ultra sticky and low quality. Uni qlo is very good tho.
@@CB-mr1ci the design and colors of the outfit too, they just give Iga the same outfit as the men
Nike's sales has gone down for a long time. Their stocks are also down. Bad management for years! The only person who really brought up Nike was Michael Jordan! And even if he had shares (as part of the MJ's demands because he really wants Adidas from the start as it is more comfortable for his feet), the sales overall soared and Nike was in business for decades!
I really just wished that Roger would have retired wearing Nike,my personal favorite. Hey, I enjoyed your video. 😊🎾
All of the intensity and competitiveness of all the greatest tennis players combined cannot outdo the intensity of Steve Jobs.
Lots of black people being very racist. Interesting ...
So Maria hits Serena, and Serena is the bad guy for having a reaction😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nike didn't want to match Uniqlo's offer which we kinda understand. Uniqlo just really really has a good deal.
Love your content buddy, amazing stuff!
