    Good ideas for WFPB meals. Rather than making a bunch ahead, I simply make double or triple batches as I cook a dish. Then I freeze the extra. I don’t have room in my fridge for doing it as shown. It also saves me from getting exhausted.I also like using glass containers.

      That is a lot of people to feed! I would keep the meals simple and easy - make lots of ingredients and serve buffet style letting everyone make their own bowl of food - if the children are old enough to do so. Think, taco bar, baked potato bar, pasta bar, salad bar, pizza bar and so on. How do you reheat the potatoes? What is a healthy alternative to butter and cinnamon on a sweet potato? Thanks. Great video :-)

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  5 лет назад +2

      We reheat them in a variety of ways including the microwave oven, the air fryer, in a skillet and we even eat them cold! We like to top potatoes with chili, soup, nutritional yeast, chickpea curry, flavored vinegars and cinnamon and nutmeg, a sliced banana and blueberries on a sweet potato is delicious.

    • @NutmegNotebook

      I bake our potatoes at 400 degrees for an hour to an hour and half depending on how big they are. I put them in an open container (no Lid) in the fridge and they last all week.

    I think cooked rice produces something call Basilus cerius ( not sure of the spelling) which causes food poisoning if not frozen. Do you find it keeps ok in the fridge? I’ve always been told not to keep cooked rice unless you freeze it. Great ideas for bulk cooking thanks

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  7 лет назад +2

      We keep only one container in the fridge for immediate use and the rest go into the freezer to be pulled out as needed, this issue occurs when left out at room temperature for multiple hours.

      Thank you for your kind comments! Batch cooking makes life so much easier. I use the ziplock and rubbermaid BPA free plastic containers for freezing my batch cooking. We never heat anything up in them and we don't wash them in the dishwasher. If you don't want to use plastic for freezing there are glassware containers but they do have plastic lids that snap on. I use the glass dishes for storing food in my fridge but I don't have enough of them to use for freezing. I currently eat two meals a day. My first meal is lunch and I always have a big beautiful chopped salad - see my video on how I make it. Then if I get hungry before dinner I will have a snack - veggies, fruit or maybe a potato or a sweet potato. Dinner might be beans, greens and a starch or a soup or a veggie burger with a starch and some veggies. I have found that eating a low fat diet works best for my weight. I follow Chef AJ's Ultimate Weight Loss program and it has worked wonders for me! She has a book out now with all the details about her program. Her book is available through my Amazon affilate page. www.amazon.com/dp/1979414254/?ref=exp_nutmegnotebook_lv_dp_vv_d

    Did you roast your potatoes in foil?

      No I bake them on baking sheets lined with parchment paper - no foil.

      I don't wrap anything in foil...it leaches aluminum into your food and you don't want that.

    I wonder if you eat as much as you like or weigh and measure your starch? You look wonderful and I have weight to lose!

      I eat until I am comfortable full. Our whole food plant based way of eating follows Chef AJ's teachings and are based on Dr. McDougals "Starch Solution" book and also Dr. Mc Dougals Maximum Wieght Loss. Chef AJ's Ultimate Wieght Loss plan adds a focus on calorie density and does not rely on wieghing and measuring at all.

    Loved the video but the constant movement and zooming of the camera was distracting and actually had me “seasick”. (I mean that in the kindest way)

      Hello JJ Treasures.
      Thank you for your notes on this video, I agree with you 100% about the shakey problem. This is actually one of our earliest videos before we invested in proper tripods, lighting and a camera equipment best suited for youtube. Not that there is still an ocassional bump or shake but I am sure you will find our current work much mord "Stable" Please do visit some of our other videos. We still haven"t perfected zooming in and out but are working on it.
      Happy Cooking
      Tami

      Nutmeg Notebook hi Tami! I’m a new subscriber and that was the one I saw, lol! I’m loving your channel! I made one of your huge salads this morning and the creamy dressing. I’m actually eating it as I write this! It’s delicious!
      I really didn’t mean that comment as negative..
      I have a channel too and I don’t mind a little feedback as long as it’s not mean and nasty!! That’s why said something.
      Looking forward to watching more!😊🦋😊
