    We quickly chop our premade salads in a Breville food processor, 16 cup capacity. Just takes a few seconds, and a quick wash of the bowl and we absolutely love the salads. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions.

I will need to look on Amazon to get that Oxo salad chopper and some kind of storage containers for the salads. In the meantime, I just make a salad each day. Prepping ahead like you just did is the way to go...less work overall and if there is a good healthy salad waiting for me in the fridge, I'm more likely to eat it. Thanks so much!!

After trying it for several weeks, I repeatedly got to about day 4, and found that some of my greens (which were purchased with 6-7 days on the "best buy" dates) were beginning to yellow and my broccoli slaw was beginning to brown. The cabbage and carrots were fine. Any suggestions? I do get to enjoy the salads and sauteés for a few days and want to make this work.

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  8 месяцев назад +4

      Well the ingredients could sit in the fridge all week and we could pull them all out every day to make our salads or divide them up into containers all at once and store them in the fridge. For us it is a time saver. Even if they did lose a little nutritional value the fact that they are ready to chop makes us eat them every day. If they weren't ready to go we might chose something less healthy. So even if they do lose a little nutritional value and I don't know that they do, we are getting so much nutrition and fiber from them - how can that not be healthy?

      We each one container for one of our main meals every day. We chop it and top it with a wide variety of things. Beans, starches, fruit and we use different salad dressings, salsa or flavored vinegars. It’s never boring. In fact I created an on line course to teach people how to create variety with their chopped salads. The possibilities are endless! These salads are just the base for what we end up creating before we enjoy eating it.

It at least sparks the imagination of what possibilities there are on how to make this lifestyle easier for yourself. Just because it doesn’t work for you doesn’t make it a bad idea. Not everything I share will work for everyone. Be open to possibilities.
