F-15EX is a perfect example of fine-tuning high quality engineering without resorting to a costly zero-base configuration.
Quick correction that the satellite was not “floating“ in space, it was in orbit, traveling 17,000 mph, faster than a bullet from a gun.

Why would an Israeli F15 need a tail hook? Or any F15
Tail hooks are used in emergency situations like brake or tire malfunctions.
@sygdesignworks I associated tailhooks with navy and marine aircraft, but I have looked it up, and you are correct.
