Slingshots are toys, slings are weapons. The sling is just two strips of leather connected to a leather pouch containing a stone. The slinger held the ends of both strips and whirled the stone over his head, then released one of the strips at exactly the right time to hurl the stone at the target. Expert slingers could hit birds in flight, and the stone hit with the force of a 45-caliber bullet.

On the Gladius, the Legionairs would carry them on the right side, and the Centurions would carry them on the left side. In close formation it was advantageous to have the sword right so it could not entangle in the shield, or hit the man to the left with the scabbard while you tried a cross body draw. This was also handy if you the enemy pressed against your shield, leaving you no room to draw it easily. As its a short sword, drawing it from the right is no problem.

I bought a leather sling at a sci-fi convention like the one at 17:05 and got pretty darned good with it! I could hit the target (tree trunk) from a good distance away even. Thought I could carry something like it if I ever got caught out in the wild, for nailing squirrels and rabbits. Lost it some time later, sadly enough, but I'd love to find one again and re-learn my technique.

Surely the sling you showed was a catapult, I thought a sling was a length of leather with a stone in a pouch swung around the head and the launched. The odachi was more a vanity piece rather than a weapon. The shield has always been used defensively and offensively, the last items are just silly.

Isn't it time to finally join the international world where the metric system is simply used? A launch has gone wrong before because they did not take into account the fact that some people continue to stick to local customs and sizes. Like this video, which is clearly meant to be serious, but then all that research and prep work is ruined because they hired some elderly carpenter to tell them how big those things were.
Of course it is unclear which measuring system the good man uses because one person's feet are not the same as those of another.
It may well be that you grew up with those old, run-down friends, I grew up when they were still inventing the computer and mobile phones did not yet exist. But wouldn't it be absurd to still communicate with the fanfare?
But that's really what you're doing...apparently afraid of what wasn't even the future a hundred years ago.
Grow up and learn what the metric system means... a new world will open up for you.
