- FLAG live at Irving Plaza, NYC September 2013. Video by www.sbgnyc.com
FLAG - one of this year's two Black Flag reunions - blew through a number of US venues and festivals over the last couple of months, including highlight-worthy sets at both Riot Fest and Metallica's Orion Music + More Festival. For those of us who were unable to witness those savage takedowns, here's a live video of the band performing at New York City's Irving Plaza in September. Featuring Keith Morris (vocals), Dez Cadena (guitar/vocals), Chuck Dukowski (bass), Stephen Egerton (guitar), and Bill Stevenson (drums), it's a rare piece of quality concert footage that captures the veteran hardcore punks doing what they do best. Watch FLAG plow through over 15 minutes of material, including catalog classics "Wasted", "Padded Cell", "Clocked In", "American Waste", and "Jealous Again". Видеоклипы
This is what can happen if you fire too many band members, they can get REVENGE
Not only fire them, but, cheat them out of royalties, too.
@@ExUSSailor you forgot the beating your children part
??? Can you explain ?
There's more than two x Black Flag members in the band
@@thomas-rs1vb 4 actually. The only one who was never a member is Stephen from Descendents/ALL.
4 Black Flags, 2 Descendents, 1 Circle Jerk and 1 Misfit
1 - Circle Jerk, OFF! 😂
Yeah, I don't know how that pasted my head hahaha
ALL
4 Black Flags, 2 Descendents, 2 ALL, 1 Circle Jerk, 1 OFF! and 1 Misfit
Bill Stevenson is one of the best punk drummers ever.
Brian Braganza the dude is freak of nature. Amazing feel with the perfection of a metronome lol. Killed it in the descendants for years too. Big fan
Fuckin A right
Fucking eh'
And he's totally relaxed
yep, just glanced at this video and thought shit that drummers tight, don't have to hit hard to produce fast off kilter poly-rhythms, you just need skill!
am i the only one who thinks this is better than the current black flag?
No you're not. A whole fuckton of people do.
Exactly what I believe, Greg Ginn is an asshole, and can't make ends with ANY of the original Black Flag members. This sounds WAY better than the modern Black Flag.
idem
I'm with you, buddy. :)
Ned Watkins
Not a fuckton, everybody thinks this is better. The new black flag drummer sucks.
In their fifties, these guys put today's so-called hardcore bands to shame.
It's because they're real punk rockers, my friend.
werd. preach it.
They put "_ _ _ _ _ _ " to shame.
Big Joe Harley is a great bassist but is shit at vocals. He’s also a gigantic asshole and starts shit with anyone who disagrees with him so I’d definitely rather prefer these guys over him any day. The cro mags were great but not even close to the same level black flag was on cmon man
Keith is more intense and better than he was 37 years ago. Listen to this and OFF!

Thanksss
Hardcore at it’s best!
Chuck Dukowski is my spirit animal.
Like Charles Bukowski, but with web feet and a yellow bill.
40 yrs ago i listened to this band on my skateboard. Now im listening on a forklift truck. Great songs never die.
Chuck Dukowski looks like he's having the time of his life!
Haha amazing :D
He is always like that. Played with him a lot. Good man. Hank and Gregg have issues.
He still has chops. Just listen to his runs and timing. You can hear he is prepared for this. Hope I rock that hard when I get old. Inspiring.
Dudes that are OG punks and never lost a step. Major props to them.
Keith Morris... The greatest vocalist of Black Flag, EVER
For my money Keith is the greatest punk frontman of all time!
Kid Convalescent Yes
gregg ginn opened 46 different youtube accounts to thumbs down this 46 times
lmao
Lol
Hahaha fucken gold
Looks like he’s still at it.
These guys a few years from reaching retirement age, yet somehow they're still more energetic and have a a far more powerful stage presence than most bands with kids in their 20's.
Exactly 💯
I don't know how Chuck can play such raw music without a pick...
because he's a beast, always has been a beast!
Two fingers better than one pick.
Picks are for pussies
I can't imagine doing it with a pick. I play with a pick as well but for bass in general and expressive aggressive bass fingers are way better by me. With fingers I get way more control and expressive range. Das best alles.
remember, these guys rehearsed long hours everyday for years. In a band context you get consistent faster. no secrets here just good old practice
amazing how keith kicks ass for as long as he has been doing it. his voice is still strong as ever! 34 dislikes? must be greg.
Keith Morris is a superhero in my book!
No Mohawks, no leather, no spikes , no young musicians, but soaked on youthful intense and genuine energy!!!!!
that’s why US punk is better than UK punk
I like how Stephen doesn't try copying the Ginn's guitar solos. Just kind of gives you the flavor in his own way.
he's obviously capable of alot more but he keeps it sloppy and out of key so it fits.
Almost exactly the same but with better chops and performance. He plays Ginn's guitar parts BETTER than Ginn. Amazing!
One of the best concert recordings and best performances I have ever seen, period. This should be regarded as the definitive * Flag performance. The entire band is absolutely on point, authentic, and Keith is a ball of righteous fire.
The only recording I like more is this same lineup doing My War at the Redondo Beach Moose Lodge. Un-fucking-real amount of energy and honestly, I think Keith's performance blows Henry's out of the water.
Fuckin a brother
@@GreenIce101 Keith is great, but Rollins was a beast in the 80's. Nobody can sing My War like him
I have had the pleasure of seeing FLAG in 2011, 2013, 2016 and 2019. I love this band. The musical performance is beyond the stratosphere!
58 years old. Born and raised in the UK. Got into American hardcore in a big way in ‘81. Saw BF at the Lyceum in ‘81 and I saw them 4 times after that. This is the closest to ‘81 you can get and I count myself lucky to have seen Flag at rebellion a few years ago. I almost wet myself, but that might be old age.
dez singing american waste is my all time favorite bf song. great to hear it again.
this is such a high quality video. i come back from time to time for a listen. grew up on the old stuff in the 80's.
Yeah I love Henry but I like Keith's voice a little better
"We're not Black Flag."
Lol you're funny Keith.
Carrotttt "no we're just all the kids with talent from Black Flag"
Carrotttt Well, technically....
@@martinwakefield8138 Greg is an asshole but he was a beast on the guitar (and songwriting).
Keith is Black Flag..
just so that greg doesn't sue them lmao
It’s amazing how Stephen can just turn into Greg Ginn like that! Perfect!
He nailed it!
Bill Stevenson is the god of punk rock drumming
He's awesome but he ain't Topper Headon or Paul Cook.
Bomber, RKL, do your homework. He'd smoke that fat dork on any instrument. Plus Bill's a huge homophobic asshole...
@@ArnieJames666 Fr? That’s a shame, What’d bill do?
Robo!! 👍
Dukowski is really goin off. And Kieth is still wicked.
Agreed
+Carlitos Padilla OFF!
I recently saw these guys play at Punk Rock Bowling. I sat there in awe with my mouth open just thinking holy shit! This is the Black Flack that got me through all of the bullshit I had to put up with in school, and teenage life in general. And they sounded just as good that day as they did years ago. Thank you guys for doing this.
If there is anyone out there that was wondering what real punk rock is...... well...... you found it.
Yes sir
+Ed Mitchell there is little more to punk rock than just this Ed......first of all,did you experience the LA scene in the late 70s early 80s? It's a miracle i'm alive!
+Lulu Rowan exactly punk rock is more than just the music,,period!!
+Ed Mitchell Right on brother!
+Ed Mitchell
Absolutely correct! ROBO was such an important part of their sound. Bill Stevenson comes the closest that I've heard to recreate ROBO's drumming style.
I'd rather see this than vintage BF. The energy they bring to this is nuts.
We are not Black Flag... we are Black Descendents!!
Joe Morales You clearly don't understand that two of the members of FLAG are from the descendents
cmon man...obviously he knows that.
I wont mind buying a re-release Black Flag Tribute album or something...they still sound awesome!
Way better then modern day black flag
I'd be satisfied with a DVD of this full show.
@@JHmusic1906 exactly , I would not even think about buying B.F latest album. More likely to buy Wasted Again , again
That was amazing. Chuck looks like an english professor having a seizure. Dez was always my favorite vocalist. Steve did serious justice to Greg's guitar solos.
I usually wince at punk reunions, but this is so fucking tight. Bravo, guys!
Gentlemen, how about giving us a live album? This was mind-blowing!!
Unfortunately, by court order they cant monetize FLAG....
+johnnyscifi They can record a gig and, then, put it online for free...
+Ronald Filho - As is the punk rock standard, there's always a means to fuck the system.
How about a bootleg? Someone?
john Kordick I'll make the bootleg
Chuck is so into. And the fact that he's 60 makes it even better lmao.
They sound amazing! They look like hell, but the performances has such insane energy, let's show these innovators & veterans some much deserved respect, because let's face it guys, our heroes are getting older now.
seen them in amsterdam the ruled.
Tank Franz True but tell me they didn't act like they were sixteen again
Martin Wakefield didnt notice it .if it was .
Gotta love them rockin' geezer legends... Lovely
When Dez takes the mic, goosebumps!!!!!!!!!
old school.the best.the real punk rockers.
As a mellow old guy I found this to be an anti-mellow old guy show.
Nice to see Dez singing the Black Flag stuff again, American Waste!
Love the damaged reference!!😅
Loved this band since i was a kid in the 80's and is so awesome to see most of the original guys (pre Rollins) back playing the hits now with the same intensity and aggression they had back then...Thanks for sharing this...Awesome !
If you have this much energy as these guys in your 50's I applaud you. Good to see Robo who had to get a visa to come play this! These guys rule at this age!! What a treasure we have for now
My favorite Black Flag tunes have always included Keith and Dez.
Exactly, 8 grew up in Hermosa Beach in the 70's and 80's, I knew all the bands and was hanging out at the church at 9 years of age , Dez and Keith is it . I could not stand Henry , I still can't stand Henry . South Bay skinhead for life even though the cost of life in the great South Bay forced me to leave . Now its a fucked up place . I sold my farm in nor cal mountains in 2009 and moved home for a couple years . But bailed after that and went back to nor cal , now I live in Mohave County Arizona, fuckin hate it , but cali is a fucking piece of shit . Next move is Russia 🇷🇺. Russia has hard-core and mental scene still going strong like we had in the good ol days .
I have seen the originals more than once and these guys are the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think we play as well as BF did around the time we recorded Damaged.
@@chuckdukowski6192 100%. Love to you and the crew, sir
I was really expecting to be disappointed. I haven't listened to anything new from Black Flag or FLAGIIII in YEARS! Wow, blown away!
i seen BF several times back in the 80's (incl. their first ever gig in L.A. with HENRY) plus met most of the band memebers at various times incl. KEITH when he was still in the JERKS and if you ask me this lineup is top quality bad ass. excellent.
I heard Black Flag with Keith before i heard them with Henry. The First Four Years was great!
Keith will always be my favorite Vocalist. It's awesome to hear this kind of Black Flag supergroup years later.
Ive been going to punk shows for twenty years, i saw them on that tour, it was hands down the best punk show i ever saw.
always loved the Keith era.
Hearing Keith sing "I love you" in 2013 is perhaps my favorite moment in live music history and I've seen so many gigs. Name a band. I most likely have been them perform! RISE ABOVE!
Fuck
All my fav black flag songs in one setlist
Holy cow how could I miss that ?? This is my youth
I missed them on that tour.....and I was bummed- but this is awesome quality and get sound....so thanks for posting it! It's freaking awesome!
Wow!!! Ripping set. All Star line up. Keith tears it up as usual. Great to see Dez up there belting it out! American Waste and Padded Cell were some of my favorite Black Flag tunes and with Dez doing the vocals really makes it that much better.Great set guys. Thanks for keeping it real.
Keith is one pissed off dude! His voice is still great.
sound quality is excellent. Thanks!
This is so fierce!! Thanks for putting this up here!!
Just stumbled across this... Killer set, The energy is still there! I'm sure the neighbors enjoyed it as much as I did!
Sweet jesus what an amazing drummer.
tighter than the original 'flag. this.is.badass
this was bar none the best gig ive seen in 20 plus years thank you FLAG and TSOL
THX for uploading this.
Covers Black Flag better than Black Flag
they've all been members of black flag with Chuck and Kieth being original members.
I wonder why they don't use blackflag... maybe Ginn or Henry have some legal claim to it?
Ginn has legal claim
Black Flag is Greg's band and band name.
At this time there's more members of BF in Flag than there was in BF.
Funny shit there.
And there producer from the first album was the drummer
And the only one not from black flag is stephen
Haha! I just turned 50, and the volume on this to 11!
Well then get a new hearing aid old man !! 😜
Brings back so many memories skating with my friends in the early 90s.
Thank you Black Flag
Bill Stevenson is one of the most excited dudes ever
Keith is probably my favorite Black Flag vocalist- Though I am happy OFF! was eventually created.
SIIIIIIIICK show. Wish I'd been there.
Dez singing at the end takes me back to my fave BF lineup, as on the Six Pack EP. Lacerating record to this day.
My favorite part of the set.
Robo was the one who played on Six Pack
These guys are awesome. Would love a live album. Keith kicks ass, as usual, Chuck's rockin, Bill's awesomely solid, Dez is soundin awesome on the mic,and Egerton's a beast on guitar
dangerous energy hardcore punk its coooollllllls
The mix is phenomenal, & so is the band.
Holy fucking shit...
Well, you can go ahead and take that "Old men can't rock" attitude out of commission.
The REAL deal ... Keith is the man!
Nice footage. Great Edit. Incredible show. I was right in between your cameras center stage shooting film of these cats. What a fucking amazing show. Thanks for this document.
Chuck was the heart and soul of Black Flag.
Jealous A Ginn!! Bwahaha
+Jeremy Allison See what you did there!!
Ooooh that's good one
Ma n lol, thats clever
Amazing show! Caught Bills drum stick at the end!
To me, Keith will always be the real singer of Black Flag.
This is absolutely amazing, I'm sorry I missed it. Sounds like a really tight Black Flag, and Morris was always awesome as a front man.
Chuck Dukowski. that's all.
great to see old men with beer guts like me pull this off. we get old, we die, but the music lives! ha ha just kidding.
you can say what you want about me, but that doesn't erase the fact that you are an apologist for a murdering pedophile named mohammad.
Dude, the beggining, this is amazing... such power.
I didn't know this existed. This is the Black Flag that I grew up listening to. One of the first albums I bought was a 45 of Nervous Breakdown in see-thru yellow vinyl, I think Wasted was the B-side. I love Keith's vocals in Nervous Breakdown and he doesn't sound much different here. Reminded me of my teenage years in the '80's and all the great music I listened to then. Thank you SBG Media for posting this! The current version of Black Flag sux, I hate it, but I'm going to listen to this again right now...
Wow (2) vocalist from Black Flag, the bass player, and descendants, I'm glad I grew up in the South Bay. Saw it all went down.
Tim Gallegos Hi Tim youre awesome
There are too many legends on the video...
Great video....would have been at this show for sure but had relocated to Portland by then....thx for posting.
well damn, wish I didn't miss this... I'm sitting here in shock... and yes it feels so beautiful, that I have to cry.... you never know how much you miss someone until something like this pops up... God Bless You! (grabs another tissue)
respect to Egerton.
Ashley Eubanks he was probably ecstatic when he was invited to play with these guys, apparently he was a huge fan!!
@@buzzardsinuses4780 legend that got a chance to play with other legends
Vyprážaný Syr I’m a huge Stephen Everton fan. I’m a fan of that whole scene in the 80s in California.
@@buzzardsinuses4780 I'm a fan too, from the former eastern block
Best punk guitarist bar none for me... his fills are sick, no-one can touch that style!!!
OMG i'm shocked....i'm 40 something and hope i can still nail it and bust out like this in 20 years...wow...
This is so good. It's also amazing how accurate Stephen Egerton nailed Ginn's solos. Truly an impressive show. Damn.
I love how Stephen plays the solos, they aren't just random notes like Greg does, Stephen actually improvises with pentatonic scales alot.
I always come back to this
This is fucking awesome
Kieth + Chuck + Bill on drums .......... the perfect Black Flag combo
The only "tribute" band that actually wrote the songs!
I love that they look old and sound this great.
Thank youuuuu!!!

wow im impressed...much better than any other version of Black Flag ive heard...in the late 90s early 2000s i used to eat at Millie's Restaurant in Silver Lake Los Angeles and Keith Morris the lead singer was a waiter there for years. Great food and great service. He always wore long dreads down below his knees...cool guy and a real legend
I dont have words.
.. Simply amazing!
EPIC GIG WAS THERE TSOL KICKED ASS TOO
keith was always my fave singer of black flag. rollins is great, of course, but keith always was more my thing.
ummm...keith was the Original singer
Dennis Lebeau
your point is?
rollins was great? At what? BF went downhill when he joined the band. Greg fucked up. Never should have gone with hanky. Keith or Ron. rollins sucked.
Reyes was the best of the bunch. And besides Damaged (which was just basically re-recoding of pre-Henry songs), the Rollins era was terrible
i honestly don't care about your opinion. especially if you act like it's a fact and not just your taste.
This is just epic! Best performance you can ask for.
I've watched this many many times now. In fact, most of you need to pick it up and make time to watch a few more times.
If you're 40+, nostalgia. Under 40, take notes.
