I love how Les just has his car keys dangling of his belt loop like he’s on a break from his janitorial job to do this concert real quick.
Welcome to late 90s alt rock style. Work boots, baggy pants, wallet in a chain, and keys at your hips. Waiting for the kids to bring this style back on TikTok so I can look fashionable again
Hell yeah, shows his humility 😂🤘🏼
The best part is that this is somewhere in Germany I believe, so what do those keys even go to? Lol
As was the style at the time, til the Kaiser took that away
@@CurlyDaZippy Oh, it's back behbeh. Cargo pants and wallet chains are hot right now.
Les plays the bass like he invented it
It's because he's Les Claypool
I just naturally assumed that he did.

Les Claypool has one of the greatest walks while playing the bass and it's awesome
Les?
Its Leg Claypool, Dork!!!!
The Les Claypool strut ....yeah
No.
He was also great in OITNB as porn stash
He's from the Petaluma area and its all farms. Looks like a rooster strut to me.
Concert is in Germany. Les addresses the crowd in Spanish. I fuckin love Primus.
I caught that.
I fuckin' love Primus too... They suck!
Like Arthur Morgan yelling "Vamos" to the German family he saves.
Crazy , but atleast they played in Beloved Germany
@@IAmClownbaby lol love arthur
Edward Norton is a hell of a bassist.

Ed Norton. Damn that shite is fun-E!!!
More like Christian Bale to me.

Watching Les take off into his legendary strut never gets old.
Yes I love it! I was seeing if anyone mentioned that. He does it good on Those dam blue collar tweekers. Les Claypool is super funky!
@@brinkybrinkz yes yes! I love watching his strut! Besides that being my favorite Primus song, he tears it up on that song…. every time.
So, as lovely as his strut is and he's really stylish with it, as a musician it's more about keeping time. Not that Primus play in particularly odd time signatures but it still helps with the muscle memory.
Yup I love his moves in the DMV video
One of the best things about RUclips is being able to watch all the live concerts from over the decades.

@Shocked none
What song does he play in the middle of Blue Collard Tweekers? I keep hearing it performed but can't find the song! @girlfriend
The decision by German concert promoters to dose 3/4 of the crowd with animal tranquilizers prior to the show was, in retrospect, a mistake.
The Germans, efficient to a fault. Jah, das horse tranx for Der primus fans jah?
@Tripper Harrison how does that even relate to anything.
People around here like to actually listen to the music, instead of constantly chatting and yelling ;-)
Hysterical man!
They're Germans. They're probably deeply analyzing it, and figuring out how to apply it to their engineering prowess.
You can’t appreciate how good a player Ler is until you try to write something over a les bass line. A truly unique band who has no contemporary equal
The non humorous version of primus: tool
They lay it down ! I am from the Bay Area and you can hear a lot of what we heard every day. It’s unique
So true 😂@@kingtaco4064
No doubt and Tool just can't compare to Primus. Are you high? Tool is great for their own reasons.
@@kingtaco4064The comment seems to water down Primus. No offense.
Seeing a German mouth the lyrics “these damn blue collar tweakers are running this town” is something only primus can do. Amazing band
What you mean by that?
I was full of joy seeing the mix of people singing along, people getting into the grooves, and the usual 'confused first timers'.
Why? You think Germans aren't good enough at English? Or do you think it's something about German work ethic? Seriously confusing comment, but a couple people liked it for one reason or another
@@Homanjer Don't worry about it
@@Homanjer Primus and their lyrics are already very weird by American standards, so it's just endearing to see their songs resonate with people from another continent.
All three of them absolutely nailing what playing lead, bass and drums should be about. Amazing chemistry.
I see Primus as being a simplified and abstracted version of Rush (when I think about trios, if Les played keyboard too 🤔).
Oh, you bet. They're all amazing at what they do.
Yeah, it's like...
Cream, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Rush and Primus all nailed power trio in different ways but all nailed it. All are hall of fame level, but Primus is the only one that got there while being PRIMUS.
Overwhelmingly, the most slept on band on that list. Arguably the most creative, too.
Brain is such an underated drummer. Yeah, there's folks that can play more complex stuff out there; but brain's groove is just amazing.
He is one of my favorites!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice pfp >:3
@@chubetube Thanks fam
BRAINNIS THE SHIT
He has a pretty hilarious how to drum teaching video. It's likely on RUclips
Just turned 61 and I still love it when I stumble across a Primus clip I had never seen.
Age is nothing
Les Claypool was great in Fight Club and American History X
I was thinking the same thing....
yeah, it's fuckin ryan gosling
lol
Jajaja, I think you are confused. Edward Norton was the starring of both movies.
Jean Deschamps I hope he's ironic
Les Claypool is probably one of THE most unique instrumentalist/vocalist ever.
It's funny when ever the camera cuts to the crowd. You can tell some people "get it" but most are just flat out confused.
They know primus sucks
his singing is confusing them
@@emusmilesop3417 Oh do I love Primus...! They suck!!!
They are idiots, just standing there!
@@justinecamp7922 Did you know that most people won't admit, but are quite uncomfortable to dance, move and groove to the music in a crowd when it is that lighted...?
An odd band... but it steams a good ham.
wheelzwheela Seymour, the concert is on fire!
@John Smith May I see it?
Best thread ever.

Hilarious moment at 26:16 where Brain shakes his head after Les makes him go way too long on the outro to My Name is Mud, then we see Les walking the other way laughing his ass off while he switches his instrument. The original troll lol.
I love these guys man.
at least the song after was a little more chill so brain could recover from that
At that point brain had just joined the band, he was messing up on the outro, so Les was making him repeat it until he did it right a few times in a row. It’s like joining the army y’know
Les: I'm going to do this 26 times. ...I'm not going to tell Brain.
Brain: Another one? Ok. (repeat x26)

Those fools don't realize the greatness they're witnessing.
I'm seeing a bunch of attentive people throughout the video who are clearly appreciating the band that's playing for them, whether they're fans or not. I prefer seeing that over wasted dudebros going nuts and missing the entire show because they think they're in a Slayer pit
It's at Rockpalast. The Rockpalast crowd who XTC played to in February 1982 were like that, too.

I love this era of Primus. I remember being devastated to hear that Herb wasn't their drummer anymore, but was floored when I saw them live with Brain. Totally different groove, but mind blowing in its own right.
Brain was the drummer when I got hip to em, he had a turntable with his kit
I 100% agree. I thought the same when I saw them. He totally reminds me of Dave grohl just minimal drums but a complete powerhouse!!

Few today will understand how incredible it was to hold such a concert in Germany 🇩🇪 in 1997. 8 years earlier Germany was split apart and their was best real fear of the world exploding in a mutual nuclear strike. By this time everything felt possible in the West, and the near and far East was opening to our pop culture
Thanks for your insight! Looks like a few of the audience were kinda stunned by what they were hearing!
Also give thanks to the guy who uploaded such balanced and mastered version ❤
The bass riff from "my name is mud" is just about the best ever.
Earlier that day, the band experienced an accident where all of their clothing was lost, and sadly the only clothing store nearby was “the gap”
For real?
I was going to say, Les usually wears a funky outfit onstage.
Pretty sure that's not even Les, i think Shia Lebouff stole their clothes and replaced Les with himself. It seems method acting works on bass skills.
I was in N.Y.C. years ago and was caught in a huge downpour and was with my mom. I was soaked through and our hotel was in Jersey. The closest shop was The Gap, definitely NOT my style of clothing, but I needed something to replace my clinging silk dress. My mom bought me a pair of jeans and a black and natural striped v-polo shirt. I felt so damned preppy! Like I was a totally different person! Normally I would only wear jeans to work and dresses the rest of the time, and a polo?! No way!
@@konami1979 When I saw him in Portland, OR with one of his other bands he was wearing a full head pig mask. It was a great show!

Best Primus trio… the brain their best drummer by far and one of my faves!
I feel like Jay Lane and Herb have a very similar style of drumming and Brain is very different from the two of them, style-wise, so I was very interested how some of the classics sounded with Brain on drums. And he kills it! I like how he makes them his own and doesn’t try to just mimic the parts on the albums. Good shit!
