swamp song and rosetta stoned made this the best set i’ve ever witnessed live out of the three times i’ve seen tool. i barely recorded anything so it’s cool to see someone got the whole show.
Growing up, watching old tool concerts, I could only dream of seeing them live. I just got back home and still can't believe I was actually there up close. you could literally feel the drums hit your chest and guitar shake your body while Maynard screamed at your soul, one hell of an experience I'll never forget.
Curious.... seems they were playing right along with the recorded album tracks. I understand these dudes are pretty old in 2023 and maybe can't keep up with their 1980s selves...but it's kinda disappointing when tickets go for multiple hundreds of dollars and they are basically doing enhanced karaoke!
@rebeccarose8942 What are you talking about? This sounds nothing like the album versions. It's clearly live! I was there, I saw and heard where they had mistakes or ad lib'd a riff here and there. They are just as GOOD live as they are on their albums, on that I will agree.

There's also a saying that I love that goes like this - if you're not better than the person (artist, actor, musician, etc) you're talking about, shut your bitch ass up! I'm pretty sure Maynard is who wants the levels where they are. There are nights when his voice takes a beating and he likes hiding in the mix. Make him too loud and it's much harder to hide.
Definitely better than the late 2010s b4 FI came out where they quite literally played damn near the exact same set every single show for years with maybe a 1-2 song difference here and there. They weren't bad shows at all, just really fucking repetitive
DUDE RIGHT! I'm so pissed. I went to Aftershock 2019 for tool. And got like an hour set. I didn't go again this year for that exact fucking reason! Now I wish I had. Oh well.
This was my first Tool concert! Been a fan since 1996. They blow my mind, Maynard vocals live…. 🤯 Just bought tickets to see them in Fresno in February. I fully understand why people have seen them 10 times + live.

The entire set was fucking wild!! Seeing roseta stoned live was the icing on the cake for me song wise! Being there uo close and being a part of it all was one of a kind. Im so thankful to have been there. I stayed behind that day helping pick up trash and got a setlist as a reward! It hangs on my wall now! Thank you for posting this.
Ive been watching Tool since i was 13 ( 33 now )... And I continue to notice something new every time... I was at this festival for my Honeymoon, I flew there with my wife and 11 year old stepdaughter ( her first concert ever ). I see this performance so so differently now! Not only was it amazing being in their home country for once, but I really took note of there stage body language this time. All of their looks, moves, eye contact and energy is not a random choice - its all been discussed prior! Especially the connection between Maynard and Justin ( they seem the closest of the 4 ) Its like a drama play...... Not only do they create art, but emotion in their simple movements between souls.

@@TerribleEnglish Generally I agree on the sameyness but imo Pneuma and 7empest were the exception, where this concept still worked in their favor. For new material I also think they would need to show that they can write slightly more to-the-point and effective songs to mix it up. I still wouldn't say no to another album though!
@@lenni-hazels Hmmm, well, actually for me Pneuma is the worst offender for being slow and plodding. There is that really good drum part but it's too low in the mix so I usually just hear the guitar which isn't doing anything interesting. 7empest is the exception in that it actually rocks for a moment, but then there's 15 mins of meandering.. so, I think you're being a bit generous, ha ha. There's a lot of rocking stuff on the early albums, and Vicarious is one of the best rockers for me, but increasingly those have been the exception. I don't know.. it's normal for bands to rock less as they get older. We'll see.
What happened at those show? I haven't listened to the whole show, but I was just listening to Aenema and it had some rough moments! I cringed when the guitar solo comes in a beat late at 1:48:07 and Adam is halfway through the solo before he finds his way back. Midway, you can see Adam realize something is off and then looks Danny, trying to sync up, just in time for Maynard to sing "Learn to Swim." I thought the horror was over, but then Adam plays guitar over Maynard's next lines (twice!) and even then I can't tell if Maynard knew the line "Fk retro anything" or just mumbled something. It's sloppy way to end the show. I'm a huge fan of Tool and they're amazing musicians, but they're still human. Sometimes things go awry...

I saw this shit live with my brother and Nephews last weekend. My God, it was unbelievable. When they played 46 & 2 I nearly began to cry. That song means so much for me. It was my bro’s first time listening to Tool live as well and he got REALLY into it, and so did the kids. They closed off an amazing night with a golden bow. Unfucking believable.
It was maybe my 6th time seeing them and I managed to get closer to them than ever before, the chance of a lifetime!!! the sound was impeccable!! I am so grateful to my dad for taking me to see them when I was 14 circa 2002, definitely one of the best and most impactful concerts of my life. It's really cool to hear your story too!

Tool never has themselves on the big screens. I actually enjoy sitting in the back of the arena so I can see all of the visuals.

It's worth traveling to see them perform.

I saw this shit live with my brother and Nephews last weekend. My God, it was unbelievable. When they played 46 & 2 I nearly began to cry. That song means so much for me. It was my bro’s first time listening to Tool live as well and he got REALLY into it, and so did the kids. They closed off an amazing night with a golden bow. Unfucking believable.
It was maybe my 6th time seeing them and I managed to get closer to them than ever before, the chance of a lifetime!!! the sound was impeccable!!
I am so grateful to my dad for taking me to see them when I was 14 circa 2002, definitely one of the best and most impactful concerts of my life.

Oh WOW, @TJ, Thank You for sharing this TREAT!! I know Tool has a no filming policy, but for the folks unable to make it to live events, these are precious videos that can and do help brighten any Tool fan's day. I have the utmost respect for the band, they're one of my all time favourites.
It's not always easy to film and you did a great job! Hope you had a blast..what an experience of a lifetime..seeing Tool is something really special!! Sure, they had a few bumps..all bands do, even the greatest ones...
