As a follower of punk music since the late 70's and early 80’s, I think the lyrics from the album Group Sex (Circle Jerks) are ironic when seeing this video. Live Fast Die Young (written by members of the band) nears its end with Keith signing “I don't wanna live to be fifty seven”. Thank goodness he did live to that age and start this outstanding group. This 52 year old man loves Flag and especially “My War”. In my opinion, the best version of the original Black Flag song I have ever heard.

Mike V & Black Flag kick ass, but cannot compare with the way Keith Morris and the boys do this song here! This was a moment of musical history, a perfect performance of My War, played by punk rock gods. Fortunate beyond belief are those in that small crowd! Excellent! _Keith Morris is still so good_ on stage, behind the microphone at 67 years old!

He was only 58 here, but shit, the point still stands brother! I dunno if I can cosign Greg's version of keeping the music alive, though. His behaviour offstage over the past few decades has demonstrated nothing but narcissistic contempt for his ex-bandmates and the timeless work they created together - there's legitimately too many examples of him being a sleazy asshole to count. And with that being the case, it's very difficult for me to accept that he's still playing these songs out of love for the music and a desire to share it with new generations of fans, as Keith and co. so clearly are. And at that point, it doesn't even matter (in my mind at least) how the Greg+Mike unit sounds; the product is too inherently polluted for me to be able to appreciate it at face value. I get why a lot of people like it, but to be totally frank, Greg is the last person anyone should be giving their $$$ to in 2024.

@@cftvdata Fair enough. Good words. I'll add them to the thick file of _shit_ I've heard about Greg Ginn over the years. This reply is way too long & I'm probably full of shit, but I've got _much_ to say. _Should I care?_ What's the _most important_ thing to me? The song. The song is where everything begins and ends. Second in importance is the show. There're bands I don't like because most of their songs suck. Green Day has songs I like, but most suck. Everything about Green Day that people love and hate is secondary to me. Sometimes I'm glad they got huge, other times I think they damaged & abandoned punk rock. I'm apathetic about things that should probably matter, but I can't change those things, so I accept them & enjoy Walking Contradiction & 39/Smooth. I'm actually thinking about going to their show in Sept. I _love_ a few of Alice Cooper's songs _that I've heard,_ the rest is boring rock & roll. ABBA, NWA, Nirvana, GG Allin, PINK, The Clash & many others have a few songs I like, but the band means little to me. I know The Clash is important in punk history. I thought long & hard about going to see Black Flag in 2021. I saw the Rollins-fronted Black Flag twice in the mid 80s & those two performances are possibly the most influential and entertaining punk rock shows I've ever been to. I just _knew_ Black Flag in 2021 wouldn't even come close to blowing me away like they did in 83 & 84. _But I love their songs._ Some of the most important & powerful punk rock songs ever written! How could I _possibly_ miss hearing them played live on stage, with a huge, sold-out crowd of people largely my age (50s) who share this love of Black Flag'? So I decided a few things - this isn't the 1980s anymore, Mike Vallely really is good, but not as good as Keith, Henry or Dez, Greg Ginn is incredible on guitar & fun to watch. He's done some fucked up shit, but I can't change that. Should band politics affect my love of the music? No. I'm _going!_ I loved them on stage! It wasn't as good as the 80s, but that's OK! Same with Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, FEAR, 7 Seconds, Negative Approach, Adrenaline OD, Misfits, The Vandals & others still playing live. The artists all have lots of history, issues, fights, lawsuits, addictions, trouble of all kinds & terrible shit they've done & had done to them. Do I avoid the songs I love & mean so much to me? Do I avoid the gig & keep my $30? Will that change anything? No, it won't, and their shit doesn't stink enough to bother me compared to the joy I get from the music and the show. I'm fucking going! It's going to be FUN, and fun is a main purpose of music.

I love FLAG, what they do is amazing and reviving the passion a lot of people lost along the way.
Hearing about Ginn's pathetic lawsuit just now against them and Rollins, I must say Greg Ginn should team-up with Lars Ulrich and start a new band called Douchebags.

The thing is, Greg Ginn is the one who compose all Black Flag music and if you notice the guitarist in Flag even using the same transparent guitar which is a known signature axe use by Greg Ginn.

Duke and Stevenson are great. The 84 lineup (Rollins, Kira, Ginn and Bill) will always be the best in my eyes all the same

The double guitars absolutely make this song. It is way better than the album version. Cool hearing Morris “sing” a Rollins classic Black Flag tune.
