- I love livin' in the city [x2]
My house smells just like the zoo,
It's chock full of shit and puke!
Cockroaches on the walls
Crabs crawlin' on my balls!
Ohh, but I'm so clean cut,
I just wanna fuck some sluts!
I love livin' in the city [x2]
Spent my whole life in the city,
Where junk is king and the air smells shitty.
People pukin' everywhere.
Piles of blood, scabs and hair.
Bodies wasted in the street,
People dyin' on the street,
But the suburban scumbags, they don't care,
Just get fat and dye their hair!
I love livin' in the city [x2]
I love livin' in the city [repeat]
Lee Ving is such a fucking legend, loved his banter and the ever lulzworthy scene of him treating that "lady" acting like a man, like a man in that doc
Actually this is great song. Thought so when I first heard it in '81 and still think so.
Dan Mage I wasn’t even born when this song came out but I fucking love it
this was first album i bought. the day it came out!
Im still here
@@jadie-maydredd210 same
I miss those days.
This is our smash hit single. From which we got all da money.
Hell yeah
Its great to be filthy rich like us
"from whence", which is a tautology but also proof that Lee Ving is an intelligent man. He knew the audience wasn't ready for the word "whence"
Its mad how are all these old bands relative more now then ever!
History will repeat.
That's the deal with stagnation - it means shit stays virtually the same for a long-ass time. Until it can't anymore and shit starts falling down. That's how it goes, painfully slowly then all at once.
I Love a Band that pisses people off to the point to where
the people will come back to see them play again and enjoy it🤘🏿
That's the whole point. You've gotta be a little bit pissed about something, it's great when your pissed at something you like but keep liking it. That's life.
That’s how good they were, they could talk shit and back it up!😁
When punk used to have balls and was full of passion. Way better than... Whatever shit we got now.
I had stenciled "FEAR" on my refrigerator when the Santa Ana Police shined their flashlights on it. They were responsible for being human, and giving me a ride home, after being tore the fuck up on Harbor Blvd. next to Disneyland, and did me a good deed. One shout out to one police department, crossbone middle-fingers for the goddamn San Bernardino Sheriff's Department. These gang-stalkers suck!
Pissed off? I Geniounly like the sound
Fun fact: Lee Ving played Mr. Boddy in the 1985 movie "Clue" as well as roles in Flashdance and Street of Fire.
And a few more 👍
He was in Dudes.
@@RJBurle Elvis Presley
Played a helicopter door-gunner in Full Metal jacket for one line. Can't find the quote, but he was shooting people running away, someone asked how he could do that? He said something like "It's easy, you just have to lead them a little bit"
@@bdunncan It wasn't Lee Ving. That was played by Tim Colceri.
Say what you will, Fear was a really good tight, hard rocking band
" You'z all suck, who don't think so?" Rotf! F*ing classic. Nothing like rolling into town getting up on stage and giving the audience the finger!
Bar none the best US punk band
Because FEAR new how to play their instruments before starting a PUNK BAND .
@@skinheadyouth66 Fuck yes, the energy and the I don't give a shit attitude while also being competent musicians.
@@MrBikboi exactly 💯
Proud to be from Los Angeles . They kick ass .
Lee has one of the best voices in punk. 🎉

Just saw FEAR for the first time since 81-82 cant recall the year but damn...Lee Ving is still fucking amazing
The warriors 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Fix your Flag
Thug 2 🤘
Best video game ever hahaha
Yes . In that time.
Yeah man🤟🏻🤟🏻
Man stood in front of Lee. Fucking with him all night at the Ritz in 84. Living in NYC this was my anthem
I saw Fear a year ago and Lee still can get the job done.
Millenial here, first heard this song in the movie SLC punk, that was 14 years ago, now.... well now, I finally live the same energy. The suburban scumbags and clean cut city folk switched places sometime in the mid 2000s
You'll only ever find punk like this in trash trailer parks in middle of nowhere off the map america nowadays
I live in the high desert in SoCal. We have a punk scene, LA and orange country have great punk scenes as well. It ain't dead yet 🤘
You’re an d u m b guy and totally wrong; cities have always been scum & ignorant; nothing worse than inner city trash.
Bingo you win .... Agreed
@@ebee3522 'you're an dumb guy' lmfao, couldnt make it up
Dead City Punx are keeping that flame going
This is perfection. One reporter’s opinion.
This is actually a cool song, chord progression-wise - it's a rad modulation between the verse and the chorus
Everything to me! "Fear Band" 💔 Breaks my heart.
60 at this day. Still like Fear.
*SPIT* *STIX* may very well be one of the best Punk Drummers *EVER* ❕❕❕
Fear the true essence of punk rock
"You'se all suck who don't think so?" Priceless!
One of the top music shows I've ever been to was Fear at first avenue, no one performs like Lee, he's also a classically trained singer and can elevate anything
You need to get out more!😂
Prophetic!
One of my buddies from high school was A&R for Geffen records, Every time I hear this song and Lee telling them to go die it kills me.
And yeah he was awesome as Mr. body in clue
I've always remembered that line, after decades
Great band, great comp👍
All the memories this song brings what a masterpiece Bravo applaud applaud applaud
Song starts at 1:03, if you voluntarily wanna skip the kick ass intro.
This should be the official song of San Francisco. Lee was telling us decades ago that SF had issues with human by-product on the streets, so the problem isn't new to them. The question is why people feel 'empowered' to shite on the sidewalk. He hammered both NY and SF in his brutal critiques of modern urban filth, NY in particular was horrible in 1981 when FEAR went on SNL to perform NY's Alright If You Like Saxophones.
I love this fucking band.
This is exactly what it was like at the starwood, spiting back and forth....a guy in a wheelchair got into the mosh pit, they knocked him over then picked him back up........one time backstage i was in a room with lee, philo, x, go go's...they had a trashcan full of beer and we were smokin pot too, nicest people you will ever meet.....
Early punk scene was in a class all of its own.. Didn't get the recognition until late but we all know where truth lies
Best opening ever!
i like your pfp
great live band !!! 😮 had not seen this thank you 🙏🏾
It is from the Penelope Spheeris film “Decline of Western Civilization.” Amazing movie.
Anybody listening to this from '80-'81 LA? And still there?
I saw them live back then
@Juicy Fruit i hear you.
Yep me
@@skinheadyouth66 awesome
Yup
Stuart, you ain’t half done some great clips of great bands! I’m impressed with all the Oi and punk bands from Norwich in particular as I lived there for years on and off. I’ve got a lot of really good friends in Norfolk and it’s great to see a firm love for all things punk. Regards to ya buddy! ❤😉
Just saw these guys play on Saturday, salute 🫡
in slc?? I was there!
You had to be there. It was a golden era and we just didn't know it.
They are just as good now.
Warriors anyone?
Francisco Ceja 😍
Turnbull AC's! 😉
SLC punk
That asshole birdie in the wheelchair
I loved them in high school and still do!
Drummers like a freakin wolverine high on angel dust
I love livin in the city. Madhouse smells like a zoo
😂 oh yeah!! Went to small gig. Everyone was on guest list. Then they couldn't figure out why pay day was so small. 😂 all the lights worked.
Love these happy lyrics!
Got introduced to this song by the book "Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi " way back in the 80's
Dang those we're the days I first hear this in 1987
NY City theme song under Eric Adams. 😆
Dem were the days...Fear was the only band that I was actually scared to see. And I saw them all...
Adam Walch Did you see GG?
@@lilclaptrap4289Unfortunately, I did not. It seems to me that he and the jabbers were more of an east coast thing in my 'active' years
Adam Walch well, probably spared you some shit (litteraly)
Early Suicidal gigs. Fear was a cake walk for us OC kids, but Suicidal gigs were always a potential knifing or parking lot beatdown for no reason.
@Juicy Fruit what about the O? I lived on the corner of Elmhurst and E in the 90's.
FEAR is an LA band and Suicidal are from Venice. I grew up in OC from the mid 60's to the late 80's before I moved to the Bay Area. I spent all of my teens in the SoCal scene, so I know a bit about it. I didn't go to many gigs in Oakland but I did do time at underground rap and hip-hop shows there. I was a frequent at the Golden Dragons clubhouse shows...one of the few whiteboys there that was openly welcome.
People puking ey-wheeh!
I LOVE LIVIN IN THE CITTOOOYYYY
Great lyrics execellent Oi!
Back in the Day
Shakespeare himself couldn't have penned more meaningful lyrics.
"We're from frisco"
"Then go back to frisco"
I dont care what anyone says, that one audience member was cooler than the whole band just for that reply.
you probably missed the context of the joke. FEAR is from LA. They were mocking the "we're going to Frisco" crowd earlier in the show.

Haha. Dummy
sorry carlos, these guys also destroyed snl and let the la fakes know what was up. they could seriously play...but the hot-tub crack owns the movie
Was anyone else too busy fighting for their lives against Birdie to remember how great this song was?!
Yeah, what a hard mission. It's pissing me off
That and busting out suck tricks in Tony Hawk
I broke my tv playing that Misson
You bet! That wheelchair mother fucker
@@pastaboy9371 what mission?
Love the song living in the city
Any RHCP fans here looking to see Flea when he was young and spry? Yup that's him on bass!!! Back in the day... I'm 57 now, old punk, seems like just yesterday!!! Fear was IT man!!! One of the best hardcore bands of the 80s!!! Live the FEAR!!!
That’s definitely not Flea, it’s the original bassist Derf.
Flea did play with Fear at some point but that’s not him on stage. Fear was great though. Not like the watered down lame wanna be punk bands of today.
Sorry but as a fear and rhcp fan; that’s not flea
Flea ??? No
That's not Flea...
2024 Lee… Lee Ving… I love you so much
The fact that they had Nazi flags flying is absolutely wild 💀

Good Christian music

"The Don Rickles of Punk" lol
God I miss this punk. Before everything went safe and pc.
"My house smells just like a Zoo," That's my house with Six cats and a Dog
First 1/3 of the song is just arguing withr the crowd and I love it

I was wondering how tf I've heard this song before...and it was Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (and The Warriors video game)! Wow I had no idea I already knew a Fear song. Huh.
Great hello from Hungry !!!
"We suck what? We're friends."
Always think of this low key
Streets of Fire should’ve had this song in the Soundtrack
Not to shabby 😜

Literally everything "punk" after like '88 is pop-punk.
Lead guitar player looks like george mcfly
Tony Hawk Underground 2
What a nice game with a great soundtrack
Now that's a pit....
Now I know where NOFX got their 'be complete a55holes' stage schtick from
If I had to rate this performance out of 10 I would give it a...... 1234 1234
Seriously the best goddamn fucking video of all time. .fight me
I'm not gonna fight you my friend but while entertaining, this is nowhere near the best video ever
Van Halen got their stuff from them, Black Oak Arkansas and whatever Snake brought to the table. Most amazing yet unproductive band.
