I am only here coz I found my 45rpm single of this (streets of London B side) I actually went to watch them live at skegness along with the Damned circa 1978/79
All those punk band millionaires now living in the leafy suburbs and having lunch with their bank managers are now doing this, whilst their fans are scratching around down the back of the sofa for a quid. Ha ha ha
+R.C Jones Lemmy's entire life takes precedence over this song. Would be great to hear him growling it tho! He MUST have sung it live at one point, even if it was in the bath. "You say you've got a massive mole, so what?"
@BOB hey, Berklee McSmarts, he sure was talking about the values, not genre classification by the scene kid encyclopedia. Anyways, punk-rock is real punk, what else would be?
They didn't know shit about punk till they started this band. They were just bikers who started a band for some gigs. The while story of this band is hilarious but they jam.
SweetDick Willie All the yes. If only this could confront all the irrelevant, puerile blathering of the facebook-o-sphere upon posting. "About to post, but first, please watch this informative video."
Absolutely brilliant!!I loved this in 1981 and I love it now in 2008. I used to play this to shock my parents!!!And it did!!It still makes me smile now, its still pretty outrageous even in todays "anything goes" world. Super stuff.
I had the privilege of seeing them a number of times… First time they were the support act for the Dead Kennedys… the Venue I think. Almost no one in the audience he ever heard of them. It was like being electrocuted with pure energy and pleasure and violence. The set was so good that when the DKs came in they were vigorously booed with requests that the ANL come back on for an encore… which they did…..to shock a crowd of hardened punks. Not easy. But they did it.
I was first introduced to this song at 14 by a friend and camp. I thought I would outgrow it but I haven't. It's still just as funny as it was 25 years ago. I have had lots of rough times in my life and every time I need something to remind me how to not give a fuck so I can let go and smile again, this song has come to the rescue. It's better than therapy, and there are no words I can think of with to thank these guys enough for creating it.
I saw this lot supporting The Damned back in the day. Best concert I ever went to. Chaos from start to finish. Two true punk bands one after the other. Both outsiders to the punk elite at the time but both miles better and more entertaining than the Clash or the Pistols. Long live the Anti Nowhere League.
I was there but can't remember where in London it was (palais?) Did Becky Bondage and Vice Squad support as well? Did the windows in the doors get smashed in the crush? I was in London waiting to get a coach to Geneva the next day and was walking over Hammersmith Bridge when I met 4 or 5 of my mates from where I lived 40 miles away. Talk about coincidence and they had a spare ticket. Result.
Nearly 30yrs ago, a friend (Spike the Punk) played me this & I laughed so much I had to play it 2 or 3 times b4 hearing full song/lyrics, which I've referred back too many times when Cnuts need to hear their not the dogs bollox after all 😂😂😂❤
I saw them open for the UK Subs in Vancouver. They only played for about ten minutes. I cannot remember who it was, but somebody stumbled and hit the stage. He got up and began to play again and then totally collapsed. He was then dragged off. The rumour went around the Commodore Ballroom that it was an overdose. All the same, The Subs put in a good show.
Although, I actually like Metallica' cover version ... nothing ... but, nothing beats Anti-Nowhere League's original! The attitude, the camp, the performance ... it's all from the heart: the real deal!
@Hookman1000 me too! Was a great show - and Lemmy was right- why DON'T they do Liverpool more? No offense to the Apollo as I love seeing them there, but it'd be nice (and more convenient for me personally :P ) if the Northwest segment of each tour was split a bit more evenly between Manchester and Liverpool. That said anywhere you see 'em is great and it was really nice to see One to sing the Blues and Orgasmatron on the set.
Punk, the only genre where a 144p video adds to the aesthetic instead of making it unwatchable.
There's also Black Metal in that category
Some videos are considered to good quality even in 144p for us black metal heads
I believe the still film skateboard promos and movies in 144p for that reaaon
Dedicated to them power walkers.
What do you expect if you only spend 144p ?
In my family we have a little tradition of always playing this on Christmas morning while we sip our sherry. Simply charming!

I might play it while I tuck into my plum pudding this year.
@Barney McGrew No, I meant it literally! Ha!

I feel like this song should play every time right before somebody post something on Facebook.
They should play "I Hate People" in Tesco and Asda on a Wednesday!
Great idea.. I'll vote for it to be
What I love about the Anti-Nowhere League most of all, I think, is that they look like villains straight out of a Mad Max movie!

Hilarious, every line is a gem. Even within the punk scene they were outsiders due to their extreme political incorrectness.
Probably why they are still some of the best while other bands became thin-skinned corporate whores.
Use to know animal he was a doorman in Tunbridge wells in the early 80s funny bloke tbh
They weren't on the same level as Dayglo Abortions, though.
