"To think, I killed a cat, and may I say, not in a gay way" Maybe not ironic in his mind, but for me it is, and is thus my favourite lyric of all time.
Yeah it wasn't a joke. Heres a story from his flatmate. "One night I went round and saw Sid, and there was a cat that was in the flat. And for no reason he decided to put a noose around the cat and hang it up in front of me... ...it didn't last long as far as ticks on the clock but it seemed like an eternity. The cat was struggling and was trying to get away but obviously it couldn't. It was whining. It was absolutely fighting to get away and just before it passed away, it urinated and defacated right on his feet. Sid was holding it in front of me. I utterly regret not stopping him doing that. Why he did that, I don't know. I have no idea, it's the most disgusting thing that I have seen in my life. If I could have my life over again, I would've stopped him from doing it. Actually, there was the top of the pops, the oldest ancestor of Mtv. But the videos they played weren't music videos, i would describe it more as a visualised version of the song. It was called "Promotion Clips" back then and the bands didn't get paid for the network to play their promotion clips. The only benefit of this was that hopefully someone would see your face on tv and go buy your record.
what makes me sad is that he never got any kind of happy ending. his girlfriend dies, he's accused of murder, he's sent to prison, has one suicide attempt, and then overdoses a few days later. poor sod.

Bullshit heroin doesn't give you confidence like that. Maybe not you because drugs effect different people in different ways, but opiates always made me feel like king of the world. Been clean since 2012 and never want to go back to using, but I can't lie when I say I miss the confidence I had when I used. Stimulants for me never had that affect. Always made me paranoid instead. But I have known people that did feel that way on them. But yeah opiates definitely have that affect on some people.

It was horrible...
...we finally put the cat in a plastic bag and took it to the bin downstairs."

They did not get anywhere near as much attention from the main stream until after Sid murdered his junky girlfriend and then got a hot shot from his awesome Mother. Still one of the greatest music videos ever. They didn’t make music videos in the late 70s. Just genius.
This is a part of the movie the Great Rock and Roll Swindle. Not just a music video. And don t get me wrong, I love this song
Маэстро как всегда на высоте! ЕвГЕНИАЛЬНО!
what makes me sad is that he never got any kind of happy ending. his girlfriend dies, he's accused of murder, he's sent to prison, has one suicide attempt, and then overdoses a few days later. poor sod.

not to mention it was technically 2 overdoses that night and he died of the overdose from his own mother

Перед тем как смотреть, подумал "Сид, ты ли это??". Но как только он открыл рот все встало на свои места.
My grandad was disgusted when we saw this on the telly. I remember it well. Never seen him so mad. And yet I was fascinated as a 7 year old boy from London. The Pistols were polarising alright. What a time. Shook the status quo to its very core. But as much as I was fascinated by The Sex Pistols, it was promptly forgotten in the early 80s for me when Madness, Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran, Blondie we’re around.

He sings some songs in the rock in roll swindle soundtrack but same, it’s hard to accept someone like him is dead, he lived a hard life and he died so young
He certainly shines at times and I feel sad for him.Sid really had the odds stacked against him for most of his short life but managed to send a strong message to the conformist he despised.I guess that was you don't have to have talent and kiss butt to be an entertainer, you just have to perform.
