Ironically I purchased my Z9 on the strength ( or lack thereof ) of the Z8's announcement. I love battery grips, I have them on all my Nikons in the past. As soon as I saw the Z8's monstrosity of a grip ( and how huge it is ) combined with the fact it wont use ENEL18's like my D850 grip meant it was a total no no from me. I'd always want the grip fitted and the Z8 with the grip is physically a lot bigger than the Z9. I also prefer dual CF Express, SD cards need to be resigned to consumer cameras in my opinion. I would be concerned that the Z8's performance would be hamstrung by that slower back up SD slot. Dont get me wrong, the Z8 is a great camera, I doubt there is much to challenge it at its price point. I cant help feeling that six months down the road you wont wish you'd just plumbed for a second Z9 instead 😋 Congratulations however, getting a new toy is always a joyous moment 😁
My poor Z9 has been gathering dust since I got the Z8. I did use it for a couple nights of agility shooting; then I pranged my little finger on the right hand so the next two days I choose the Z8 for the lower weight. On the last day I did run into the dreaded shorter battery life (to be fair I didn't top them off and in hind sight were less charged than they first showed me). Now SmallRig has a new nikon battery that measures out at 2400mah, tempted to try one out.
I think the fact that it doesn’t take the larger battery is a great mistake. Don’t forget though that the Z8 is much lighter and cheaper, even with the battery grip.
Congrats Sean 😀 Looking forward to watching your compare videos 😉
That’s right Michael, put me under pressure 😀

Congratulations Sean 🎊🎊🎊👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Thank you
Great to see the Z8 and will wonder what your expectations and experience will be in comparison to the Z9
It’s going to be fascinating
@@seancameronphotographic3740 can't wait for your review on the 2 cameras side by side comparison
Hello though clips are great when you are tethering.
congratz! 🎉
Thank you
Boys and their toys 😅 - I would never buy things like that 🤥 ... 🤣🤣🤣
I wonder why the grip is so high?
Cheeky, not that you’d ever do anything like that 😂
Cool 😎
Iron.Maiden......kool
Did you notice the tattoo as well?
If I wanted a grip on my Z8 then I would have bought another Z9.
And the grip doesn't even take EN-EL18 series batteries ... 🦘
