@@HollywoodweddingfilmsGREECE Yeah because thats always a good way to have people trust your reviews. And for what gain? Dude doesn't make more money by sabotaging the review of one brand for another...
I use GoPro much less these days. I prefer the Pocket for most vlogging, wireless lav mic, nightlapse, and lower light, and I prefer the Olympus TG-6 for getting wet because of the zoom lens, and superb macro, I prefer the Sony RX100 VII for serious photos, and the GoPro for going wide and for hyperlapse. When cameras are small we can carry more than one of them, and use the best one for every creative situation.
I've been a GoPro user since their first product in the market. Recently I switched to insta360 and it opened a whole new stage in action photography for me. I especially love their post-production software for editing and reframing.
Has GoPro fixed their file management/naming conventions? That’s what’s really turned me off GoPros in the past as part of my workflow. Longer clips (larger than 4gb) get broken up and then named non sequentially so it’s a real pain to find each clip from a single shot. Especially in post if you’re just handed a card and have to piece it back together. That would be the biggest selling point for DJI/Insta for me, as otherwise they’re all pretty similar. Though the action mode on the iPhone really is eating the action cam market’s lunch, and should probably be anyone with a newer iPhone’s first stop before picking up a dedicated action camera. Thanks for another great episode!
Plz consider adding a YT short about heat and cold testing these cameras. Action pro 5 is very good at working in hot climates Because honestly if an action camera cant handle winter and heat outdoors they are useless ❤ ur content
But many of them are paid review! For more neutral review, most reviews give the edge to the GoPro in daylight situation and to the 2 others one in lowlight.
@ the insta app is incredible but he DJI just has a better image to manipulate in post. DJI is rock solid and in all my broadcast work I use DJI, the insta is my extra get out of jail free camera and solid Timelapse camera. Either way I’ve sworn off GoPro and it’s been wonderful
Somehow the action 5 pro I just got doesn't do that well even with super night, and is much worse than my old iphone 13 pro max, when it is really dark (no light pollution but still under full moon). Do you have the same experience? I don't know if I have done something wrong. It should be just choosing super night and shoot? Thanks.
Brilliantly comprehensive, really useful having so many samples. The standard/auto GoPro footage is actually really nice, better than I might have expected.
Weird complaint about filters on the DJI. I have a set of K&F ND&PL filters and they have a rubber inner mounting in the filters that fits on nice and snug and I don't see any way they're going to let in dust/water. And i have no idea what you did to that in-car DJI footage. Mine has never looked that bad! And with just a minor tweak, in normal mode, of setting it to -0.3EV, the footage looks great. And you should have pointed out that the DJI has 10bit Log, whereas the Ace Pro 2 and GP13 only have 8bit Log. And the DJI sound is easily best of the three.
Is GoPro interface still sloooow and crashes or freezes every time you're shooting a once-in-a-lifetime thing? I like the image quality when it does work though.
A friend of mine fell for the marketing hype of "needing" an action cam. She finally bought one even tho she doesn't do much "action" stuff. During a car ride with gorgeous view, she started using her GoPro to record the view around us. I told her she's way better off using her iPhone. And that's the reality. When people see all this action stuff online, it makes them wanna get one because all the cool stuff they can do with it doing "action" stuff. The reality is, most people don't. Your phone is way better off for recording your adventures for 364 days of the year. Do you really want to spend money on an action cam that you will use for 1 day of the year?
Once exception to this is around kids and dogs. Action cameras are great because they're durable - I can hand them to my 4-year-old niece without any worries, or let my dogs clobber them while chasing a toy. It's not action sports, and you can't do it with a phone (without risking damage)
So, the real answer about video quality is in the Log section. All of other things are for fun around. If you have good log performance, you can achive flexibilty to make better lowlight, denoising and other effects in davinci resolve. Ace pro is already postprocessed and thats it, you cant step back and change too much in final effect. The best option for advanced filmaker is dji
I’d love to see the 3 cameras reviewed from the point of view of taking stills. Of course video dominates all reviews, but they can take stills. How do they compare? With the amount of waterproof still cameras available shrinking, and Olympus/OM Systems dragging their heels with the Tough TG-whatever, can any of these substitute for a still cam?
They (mostly) fixed the standard footage on the DJI in latest firmware. And the supernight. And in DLog, the DJI’s daytime footage is insanely good, almost matching my pocket 3. And you can one touch grade it right in the app.
I have a question on the log recording. What are the firmware versions when you tested it? if not the most updated version available today, then, I wonder how the results may come out differently. I would appreciate your comments and reply.
I am an endurance distance runner. Some of my runs include long night sections. That makes the GoPro a complete non-starter unless I change cameras and not just batteries come daybreak.
Know you can't cover everything but what about things like control layout, physical keys and voice controls? I feel those are quite important in some use cases where you don't have your hands/ fingers free. Like when the cam is mounted to your head or you have ski gloves on.
One thing about DJI Osmo Action 5 is that older batteries are compatible with it. I have the DJI Osmo Action 3 Adventure Combo and I am thinking of upgrading because of that.
Yes, my words. In the end, it's the picture that counts. For weeks I've been telling everyone who wants to buy an action cam: "Buy the Hero13". And I keep hearing how great the Action5 is and how great the AcePro2 is going to be. I've been able to test all three and for me the Action and the AcePro have gotten worse rather than better.
Great video! Consistent with my findings. GoPro is best for image quality with the exception of low light. For low light I use the Ace Pro 1 or DJI pocket 3. Downside of the AcePro is people have a clay look and it has close focusing problems. Not sure if these two issues were addressed in the 2nd gen. Never used the DJI action but footage I see looks bad.
I am thinking of getting a DJI Action 5 Pro, but I just don't like strange looking and sometimes rather strong flare as if a laser beam lights showing up in the frame.
Do the files automatically split after a certain GB size or length or does the entire clip stay a single file no matter the length of shot on the Insta360 Ace Pro 2?
I would like to see more details, especially on the log test. What settings did you use? When you tested the log, did you use the GoPro Labs firmware? With it, you have additional features, and you can also increase the bitrate to 200 Mbps on the GoPro also some color setting.
Great comparaison. Hey Chris, since no photography was discussed here, may I suggest a next video : best very small cameras, including the action cameras, things you put in a pocket or bring on you to hike a tall mountain or walk days in the woods. Banff national park area would fit great for this video.
I had a Gopro 7 black some years ago, occasionally crash make me crazy. I bought some DJI products in these years, including DJI 5 pro this year, they all work stable.
Is it RUclips compression or does the Ace Pro have a blurry/smeary image when you start moving. I've looked at many Ace Pro 1 & 2 videos and they never have a crisp look when there's motion.
Thank you for a great video. I have the ace pro 1 and was going to get the ace pro 2. But I think I 1 is good enough. I ordered the DJI action 5 Pro but now after seeing couple videos. I may not be happy. I have the GoPro 13 and love it. It seem more natural and real then the two. Plus I got to test out the hero 13 on a volleyball game indoor and it did well and I also had the acepro 1 with me at that game and it didn’t do well it had more AI adjustment making the player look not natural so I think I will pass on the new ace pro 2 since the hero 13 did a great job. Now for the DJI A5. Can’t wait to test it when it comes in. Just hope the bitrate got fix. Again thank you guys for a great video and channel. True to the form and not the other. Thank you.
I don’t have an action cam yet. I think my main use would be atop a MILC for video capture of the subject during photography. Would the GoPro be the best choice for this, due to the video aspect ratio? Does it auto switch between Landscape and Portrait while the video is recording?

Suggestion for new review issue: Does the camera actually work out of the box without pairing to an app and registering with the company? I returned a DJI product which was a total brick unless I gave them cell phone access and registered it. I do have an Insta360 product, which does work, but there is no way to set the time without pairing with their app. I do understand the productivity advantages of pairing a cell phone and camera, but some of us with a computer security background are not so willing to do it.
I bought a throw away phone for my DJI gimbal. The only things on that phone are the DJI app and my music. No SIM. Different google account. The phone I think cost me €100 or something. Considering the cost of the gimbal not a huge amount. I also use the phone at the beach for music to my ear buds
Nice comparison video, got me thinking about action cams again. But I would like to see follow up video where you would compare different type of cameras ( Good quilty 360 cam / GoPro style action cam / DJI Pocket 3 / Pocket camera as Sony ZVseries ). I would like to buy something as behind the scenes for my photography trips and I don't want to use my phone for it.

I personally tested all three and Insta360 wins for superior definition and control of the highlights. At night the Osmo still burns all the lamposts, neon sign weird artifacts etc
Interesting review! Overall, GoPro is effectively always the king of action cameras. GoPro has a better ecosystem (their ultrawide lens with horizontal lock in all modes is really addictive). Their 8:7 sensor is so practical: with the same shot, you can produce vertical content for Instagram and horizontal content for RUclips. In daylight, their color science is simply the best, and they give us high bitrate and 10-bits footage. Many paid reviewers say that GoPro is the worst action camera ever, but you show that is simply not true!
I like these guys but it seems obvious they are paid reviewers. I couldn’t disagree more with their “choices”. Makes me kinda sad but I’m over it. GoPro has failed me so hard with corrupt files, terrible battery life, and random freezes…I’m never going back to them. I feel like they were it for so long and just didn’t appreciate my business and didn’t address these well known problems. NEVER GOING BACK TO GOPRO…guess I made my point. Lol.
You didn’t touch on peripheral attachments. One thing i absolutely hate with the GoPro is that you had to use a big ass dongle for mic attachments. Proprietary attachments for connectivity is a major downside. And let’s not forget bugs. My GoPro is beyond fickle and quite often I’ve wanted to throw it because for some reason it doesn’t want to record, or recognize a card, etc.
I've seen quite a few early buyers on other social media platforms reporting some concerning image quality issues, like color bleeding, significant shake in night shots, and HDR not working in 8K resolution. If these problems aren't fixed, it might affect our final choices.
I don't have any statistics, but it feels like action cameras are used more often for vlogging than for pure actions. So it would be nice to have video reviews and suggestions on suitable cameras for vlogging, family holiday video for point and shoot, able to handle rough handling, and even by children's, and requires less video editing and good in alow light conditions, and good mic. I wish camera manufacturers create such compact cameras. And of course, good connectivity and apps with smartphones, ease of fast file transfers.
I have a GoPro Hero 12 and when I tried to use the Log profile, it looks softer and too noisy and couldn't get good footage with Log even in daylight (I wanted the Log to match the footage with V-Log from my Panasonic cameras),. I am aware that Log profiles are usually noisier than standard profiles but what I was getting is unusable which is why I never upgraded to the 13 as I assumed it wouldn't be much different, unless I was doing something wrong I am not aware of. For the audio, while the Insta360 did sound better than the other two but that is not saying much as they all sounded bad. I do wish they had decent audio as you're not normally going to be using eternal audio with action cameras.
Thanks for the rundown/review. Cant complain, this is honest and thorough Looks like the heavily firmware updated and soo to be heavily discounted ace pro 1 wins...
So when I want a quick turn around, I use the GoPro, when I need log, the DJI and when I need night shots, the Insta360 :P Jokes apart thanks a ton for the detailed reviews as always. :)

@@charliegoss5427 i can't see why!
@@BayAreaMotorcycleCommuting : Exactly! Who want to go back to a 4:3 sensor when you need to produce content simultaneously for Instagram and RUclips? And the ultrawide lens (or Max Lens Mod 2), with the horizontal lock available in all mode, is a big plus for me. Combine this with 10-bits colors + high bitrate, GoPro continue to offer a really competitive package. My dream, would be a 1:1 sensor combine with a faster chipset for the GoPro 14 .
All 3 are fantastic. We live is such a time where we are privileged to have such great options to choose from.
💯
Anyone notice the Insta Ace pro 2 built in mic sounds very muddy in the comparison??
Horrible in fact
Double checked and watched another comparison and the audio sounded much better on this guy's review. Idk why its such a huge difference ruclips.net/video/H8D8OC2j-wo/видео.html
@@ohHeyKevThey probably have mixed the Audio files while editing.....
This channel is bias, simple!
Did you guys intentionally skipped battery life, charging time, stabilization, overheating, reliability, UI etc just to make the GoPro look good?
The DJI lens cover can be replaced for filters too, like GoPro and insta360
I've been a GoPro user since their first product in the market. Recently I switched to insta360 and it opened a whole new stage in action photography for me. I especially love their post-production software for editing and reframing.
‘And the bedroom’ - how you make me laugh 😎👍
Yeah, married with children action in the bedroom is changing the sheets!
You can fix this! It's part of the things you can tweak using the GoPro Labs firmware (which I recommend anyway) and you can increase that up to 12gb.
@@TaylorPassofaro Wow, that's awesome, thanks for the tip, I'll have to try it out.
Plz consider adding a YT short about heat and cold testing these cameras. Action pro 5 is very good at working in hot climates
Because honestly if an action camera cant handle winter and heat outdoors they are useless
❤ ur content
You didn't include one of most important tests, battery life. GoPro's battery is the worst, specially in cold weather.
Yup. Or responsiveness. I'll keep my Action 5 Pro just for the sub 1s start-to-record.
Most of the reviews I’ve watched so far have the video quality of the GoPro behind the DJI product.
But many of them are paid review! For more neutral review, most reviews give the edge to the GoPro in daylight situation and to the 2 others one in lowlight.
DJI sponsor them. GoPro stopped paying RUclipsrs. That’s why it’s trendy to throw dirt on GoPro
This vid marked a decline in the quality of reviews by Chris and Jordan. So sad...
Thank you. Please next time include app usage and reliability. GoPro is severely lacking and the reason I don’t use them.
I hate the Gopro Quick App 😡 might get the DJI, but I heard the Insta camera has the best app. I don't know which camera to buy🤔currently on GP11
Thanks.
Update firware
@@陈一峰-y1r I did right after I got it. Sigh.
Huh? The GoPro HERO13 Log is 10-bit! The GoPro itself has been able to record 10-bit since the HERO11.
GoPro have 8 bit only? Bruh I have 10 bit on my GoPro 11
It's all nice and great until it hits the ground.
Once exception to this is around kids and dogs. Action cameras are great because they're durable - I can hand them to my 4-year-old niece without any worries, or let my dogs clobber them while chasing a toy. It's not action sports, and you can't do it with a phone (without risking damage)
My EOS-M with Magic Lantern Crop Mood kills a phone.
i used to be on the same boat, until i get into freediving activity, phone can't cut it when being used underwater
The amount of gray, HDR shadow boosted people in this video is wild
So, the real answer about video quality is in the Log section. All of other things are for fun around. If you have good log performance, you can achive flexibilty to make better lowlight, denoising and other effects in davinci resolve. Ace pro is already postprocessed and thats it, you cant step back and change too much in final effect. The best option for advanced filmaker is dji
Don’t let influencers sway you into buying the latest and greatest. Sometimes it’s better to just learn how to get the most out of your old gear.
GoPro definitely paid you a lot of money for this review. Also did you know that there are 3rd party ND filters that screw on to Osmo Action
They just dont care😂 Gopro pay them
I have a question on the log recording.
Thank you for not forgetting us in the adult film industry. I’m getting tired of strapping an A7S3 to my chest for POV shots
Know you can't cover everything but what about things like control layout, physical keys and voice controls? I feel those are quite important in some use cases where you don't have your hands/ fingers free. Like when the cam is mounted to your head or you have ski gloves on.
Question, what camera did y’all use to shoot this video?
The audio from the Insta360 sounded terrible.
Hey, I saw this episode was shot on the GH7. I may have missed it but what lens or lenses were you guys using for this shoot? Thanks
Excited for this. Hope to see usability and low light improvements.
One thing about DJI Osmo Action 5 is that older batteries are compatible with it. I have the DJI Osmo Action 3 Adventure Combo and I am thinking of upgrading because of that.
Audiio's music selection is sooooooo limited. I have a lifetime subscription and their music is just so few and far between.
I wonder how it compares with Sony rx0 ii (if the higher price and bigger sensor are justified in Sony)
Hi .Nice review at all . Which one will you choose for kitesurfing and quick edit ?
Is this Japan footage a bit older or can we look forward to some cool camera announcement?
I am thinking of getting a DJI Action 5 Pro, but I just don't like strange looking and sometimes rather strong flare as if a laser beam lights showing up in the frame.
It's amazing that an action camera can offer such image quality! Technology is advancing all the time, and it's all consumers who benefit.
Is Gopro 13 Hero Black is better than Insta 360 Ace Pro 2 ?
Does the Action 5 have an ISO cap in LOG like GoPro? The GoOro LOG is almost useless since it’s capped at iso 400.
Chris' knowledge of Jordan's bedroom routines is... concerning.
Thank you.
What about mounting options ? All you covered was using it as not an action camera ?
I don’t have an action cam yet. I think my main use would be atop a MILC for video capture of the subject during photography. Would the GoPro be the best choice for this, due to the video aspect ratio? Does it auto switch between Landscape and Portrait while the video is recording?
Any will do it's just a matter of physical orientation, 7:8 isn't that game changing
@@trym2121 it is game changing! That allows you to crop either vertical or horizontal. Both other cameras don’t really allow for the same flexibility.
Hai dear
I am a fan of your videos about fuji camera
I need your advise before purchasing lens
Currently i won fuji XT4 XF16-80 lens and i do landscape, portrait and product photography.
As per your experience which lens is best for product photography
1. XF 90mm
2. XF 50-140mm
3. XF 80mm macro
4 XF 70-300mm
is it okay to get an Ace Pro 2 instead of ace pro 1? its bit cheaper
Great video guys, really enjoyed it!
Where do we find the low light high action bedroom footage?
Does anyone know if the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 supports at least 10 bit recording in 8K outside of LOG (maybe HLG HDR)?
Only 8 bit
@@SkiJournal thank you!!
Would like to see a score category for how many times the camera crashed during testing and how much the battery drained while turned off.
7:8 aspect ratio is a major advantage for me. I wish the bigger camera manufacturers came with this also.
No stabilisation or battery test? These criteria are about 10 times more important to most users than log recording
In the audio section, the DJI internal mic sounded the best. The mic on my Action 4 is pretty great.
Haven't you mixed something up in audio section? Second one sounded clearly the best to me
I'm using Go13 but how can I set 5.3k/120 like you?
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
I personally tested all three and Insta360 wins for superior definition and control of the highlights. At night the Osmo still burns all the lamposts, neon sign weird artifacts etc
Having built-in storage just adds to the cost and adds something else that can break. I’m good with my SD cards, thank you!
Built-in storage just complicates things and can lead to more issues. 😂 SD cards are reliable and way easier to manage for sure
its nice you compared the log cause that's what is important if it is used by professional but the insta 360 looks beautiful
Amen
Audio went weird at the end of the standard video format section for the Go Pro? Huh. Anyway I like the video. That insta 360 seems very appealing.
You didn't explore speed on turning on the action camera. I believe the DJI is much quicker in turning on.
Jordan mounting action cameras in his bedroom, thats a new image that will haunt me for quite some time.
Thanks for the rundown/review. Cant complain, this is honest and thorough
Looks like the heavily firmware updated and soo to be heavily discounted ace pro 1 wins...
So when I want a quick turn around, I use the GoPro, when I need log, the DJI and when I need night shots, the Insta360 :P Jokes apart thanks a ton for the detailed reviews as always. :)
Are we wrapping up the year already? Please do mic round up too! Eg lav mic and those clip on mic
What do you mean the DJI Action 5 Records only 4K in 24p in 4:3?
The color grade for the Audiio ad 🥰
