I've played from highschool all the way up to semi pro and I've been on both ends I've been absolutely destroyed and a play but also I've put some big hits on some people both are absolutely crazy haha but that's what makes it fun and makes us kinda crazy haha
Adam, this video you are reacting to is titled incorrectly. All these hits are not just from the NFL. For example 1:10 this hit is from a Big 10 conference game between college teams. This one in particular Ohio State University and the University of California.
Because he held on to the ball. Celebrating getting up breaks the spirit of the defender letting him know his hit want shit. Then you go to the sidelines and pass out.
I've played football since I was 8, I was a running back on Offense and linebacker on defense, once I got into Highschool I gave 6 Concussions to either teammates in practice or others in games.
I played from fifth grade through high school. Only had one significant injury. Loved every minute of it. The way the game is now versus when I played it's two separate worlds
I played from 5th grade through college. Worst injury I had was one concussion and 2 bruised ribs. Surprisingly, most of the hits really don't hurt, they just look bad. Granted some of them are really dangerous and hurt like hell but MOST do not.
In high-school and university we called it: "getting your bell rung". It was absolutely %100 a concussion. Back in the 90's. And if you were talented enough, they'd send you right back out.
My father played high school American football, he still has the scars and cuts from playing when he was 16-18, he’s taken some really big hits. He’s almost 70 now and some scars are visible still. He’s also witnessed someone snap their leg in half, twice in 2 years.
Those are some pretty good hits. Some of us were rural and got to play real "cow pasture football". No pads, no helmets, and we were actively trying to remove players from the other team. Sometimes we had thirty people playing at once, so you tried to break the defence by breaking players. Unkillable at 16, at 60, every..single..hit comes back.
Played for 14 years total through high school, college, semi pro and arena football. Pads help with the pain so much but nothing really stops a helmet to helmet hit. Worst injury from a hit was a broken kneecap. Worst injury I ever caused was a broken upper arm from a hit where 2 of us pinched a WR mid air as he went up to catch a pass.
Generally if I saw where I was getting hit from there was no problem, but getting hit when you don't see it coming SUCKS. Still remember getting decleated by a psycho teammate while practicing kick return - easily the worst hit I ever took cause I had no idea it was coming.
To answer your question, yes, that is the same Pat McAfee. He was a punter in the NFL before his time in WWE. He is currently covering college football for ESPN.
Played through high school got a couple of minor concussions, one major where I though I was out of school one weekend but was out for over two weeks, sprained ac joint, cracked ribs, ripped a muscle in my back and sprained the muscles in neck in a helmet to helmet hit couldn’t move my neck for a couple of days without extreme pain but man I loved it. Loved hockey to it’s just fun hitting people
I played in a grown-ups "flag football" league after playing tackle through high school. The difference in "flag" and "tackle" football is you have no pads. 2 broken necks in one season. (we didn't keep track of the minor injuries)
As a starting Quarterback during my middle school days, my dipshit of a coach put me in a hitting drill during practice where i stood in the middle of a circle formed by all of my teammates and they tapped on the shoulder of a player to come and hit me, i couldn't move, i had to take the hit, so my coach tapped the pads of the hardest hitter on the team and he ended up breaking 3 of my ribs and i was out for the season
When I played football in high school I gave out a big hit to this kid who was bigger than me and thought he was better than me. And it felt great to knock him on his ass
When a play broke loose, I'd always pick out the biggest guy chasing and level him. (Played tight end, so I was often downfield) Watching game film on Monday was always a treat.
Worst hits I took, Got knocked unconscious in practice from going up, getting hit and landing directly on my head/helmet. Got hit on with a complete blindside block on a punt return in a game, never saw the guy. Knocked the wind out of me for about a minute. I got the better end of several hits as well, you'd have to ask them how it felt.
Adam I have been asking forever. NFL BRUTAL HITS FROM DING PRODUCTIONS. I have played football for 11 years as a fullback and a linebacker. I have been on both side of big hits and regardless it hurts you just get used to it. Ice baths are your friend
We like to refer to these hard hits as "getting jocked." Or "getting straight up phantomed." Getting jocked means rhey got hit so hard, only the jock strap remains on the field. Shew buddy, theres some solid hits in this clip. Ain't nothing quite like a defensive back all thick and quickly closing the distance to a receiver that is looking up towards the football, then gets horizontally mollywopped without any actual forwarning. When you hear the shoulder pads clap and reverberate through the stadium and on the audio streamed to your home TV.
@@redskinsman10 Yeah I've heard horror stories from a friend who lives there. Just recently watched a vid where that was mentioned so I was hazy on the particulars, so thanks!
The only way to explain getting hit like that is imagine walking along looking down the street then next thing you know your face down everything hurts and you don’t know how you got there😂😂
Been on both ends of the hitting at the college level. Hit someone one time and my face mask got bent so I had to get a few stitches. Got blind-sided one time in the side of my head and ever since my jaw pops/clicks when I eat lol. Fun times!
Played from 8-18 years old. Put in as many of these hits as i could (at about a hundred pounds lighter and a few steps slower, of course) Even getting hit is exciting, and i always tried to jump up and say "nice one!" when somebody leveled me. I figured it was best not to let them know if they got to you. Also, to be fair, my chiropractor makes me pay him for the same spine loosening i used to get for free on the field.😅
i played until 7th grade. we had a kid in our class who got held back two years so he was so much bigger and faster than us. went helmet to helmet with him and i blacked out and i was good on football 😂
Been on both ends of big hits in hockey and football. Depends on how you’re hit. If you’re winded it’s just hard to get up. I was always told by my football coach to crawl off if I couldn’t walk. With hockey, as long as you aren’t in the danger zone aka 3’ or so from the boards you’ll be fine. You generally get hurt in both cases from awkward angles. Straight on hits you just get winded.
I have taken one of these hits, and I have delivered one. Delivering the hit is an adrenaline high. There is nothing to amp u up more than delivering one of those hits. Taking the hit however makes you want to reevaluate your entire life.
My worst hit was in 10th grade: I was in special teams and doing kickoff. There was this guy in front of me and was like 6ft 2-3inches of height and looked like 270-300 pounds. While I was running down field and the mf blindsided me. I somehow got up all ok, and was about to push him but decided not to. Good thing I didn’t lose to my iq with that hit
How? Timing. If you get your feet planted behind and "jump" so your legs are almost straight when you make contact, you're basically a brick wall... all the other guy's energy just gets rooted through you and into the turf. On the flip side, if the guy manages to juke away as you're doing this, you're committed... and face down on the field with nothing to show for it but grass stains.
A few years ago on the team I played for (I played for the school I was going to at the time) there were these twins a grade below me that were an absolute UNIT on defense and still are to this day. In practice one day we ran a play and I ended up with the ball and thought I was in the clear and then I saw one of them coming up on me and then from behind his brother hit my knees in and at the same time he hit me up high and I turned a fuckin cartwheel and lost my helmet😂😂😂😂
@AdamCouser u should definitely watch highlights of Sean taylor n mini documentary of it. Sad story but definitely had potential to be the greatest safety of all time

Yes Pat McAfee is indeed in WWE & has surprisingly been putting in good matches, but before that he was the Indianapolis Colts Punter
