Only mon that saved me vs those stupid flying squirrels.
They realized how annoying skyla was and gave you a free out in B2W2
Which is ironic considering that you get A Gigalith by trading Emolga in BW2
@@samszczepanski2281Elesa was awful if you didn’t know how to get drilbur. Palpitoad could take the switches but not do a ton back.
@@samszczepanski2281Except that’s like 2 badges later lmfao. Definitely more meant for Skyla.
Last time I faced down Elesa I took out both her Emolgas and Zebstrika in just five turns. My Herdier crit one Emolga with a Take Down, Scraggy beat Emolga with a couple of Faint Attacks and with a Moxie boost got Zebstrika into kill range for Servine to beat out with one Leaf Tornado. Didn't even need to use my Palpitoad.
I think the coolest thing about Gigalith is that in Black and White, you could trade a Boldore for an Emolga, and then in BW2, you could go back to that same NPC and trade an Emolga for a Gigalith, providing one of the only ways to use a fully evolved trade evolution Pokémon in a solo playthrough
Not true. You'll get a Machoke in Yellow (for a Cubone) that will evolve into Machamp after being traded to you.
Fucking Mindy
@@enoyna1001"one of"
@@enoyna1001 “English” do you speak it?
@@enoyna1001 there are always 1 or 2 trades for trade evolutions in every game, but the gigalith one is like a little storyline
One of the coolest rock types ever. Shoutouts to the dude in B2W2 who traded you a fully evolved Gigalith for your Emolga two years after giving him a Boldore for his own Emolga back in BW1. Such a cool idea for an in-game trade
Imagine if you could trade him back the same Emolga and he had a special response to it
@@Leet-iz2fz that would've been possible too considering bw2 reads your bw1 save if you have it
Manny is a real one.
Cooler idea in my opinion would be the ability to get the exact same Boldore you traded in B1W1 just evolved (as in the same stats, nickname, and OT)
@@rajkanishuhow does it read my bw1 save? What changes?
When Pokémon got small 10 BST boosts in Gen 6, Gigaliths +10 to special defense was actually pretty huge since it got sand stream down the road
Fathom such a combo with Assault Vest and/or an ability like Ice Body (which acts like Leftovers in Hail & Snow) for Sandstorm
@@tktyga77 Assault Vest would be kind of a waste, just like with TTar. You get more longevity out of just running lefties at that point since that provides you with recovery you don't have otherwise, preventing you from getting whittled down over time. It's cool in theory but in practice it's overkill
@@TheJpiscoolvest is elite on tar in vgc, makes him laugh off flutter mane and ohko it back
@@tktyga77Hail AND Snow? I started in gen 1 (christmas '98), quit in the 3rd gen (peer pressure) but picked it back up in time for Platinum, played gen 4-6 competively, last game I played was gen 7 (Ultra Sun), I was extremely disappointed, I still probably would have bought gen 8/9 but I'm not buying a fucking Switch, I'd rather retain my money and dignity, and VGC is a joke (doubles? seriously?) did you mean Snow as a synonym for Hail or is it legitimately both now? -_-
Thank christ the console-shift stopped me from buying bought gen 8 either way, PC > console, and if I were to buy a console, I'd buy a real one like Xbox/Playstation. Dynamax/GiantMcLargeHuge-max was the most awful gimmick ever and I was already skeptical after the cringe Z-moves. They jumped the shark in gen-6 with mega-evos, which were actually cool and innovative. If gen-10 was actually designed to be a good game, they'd bring those back...
@@ghostofmoredishesmorebitch1507 I honestly forget how different VGC is, sorry lmao. I've been a singles player for like 10 years now lmao
GIgalith has one of my absolute favorite shinies. Plus it just has such a cool design in general, really sells the "living crystal and rock formation" aesthetic.
Ah, a man of culture i see
Gen 5 really had some S Tier shinies, Scolipede also got the "red to blue" treatment and that's imo a Top 5 Shiny.
@@-libertyprimev1-902Can't say the same for Gen 9.
dude youre right that shiny rocks 😬😬😬
The big brother to shiny Carbink
It's nice to see Gigalith being breathed a new life when it was given sand stream.
It became a baby Tyranitar
If shiny colors were the main factor for competitive success, Gigalith would’ve created Anything Goes a whole gen earlier with ease.
Latias would have created it all the way back in Gen III
What would a shiny Pokémon tier list look like?
AG
OU
UU
HP (Hot Pink)
BY (Bright yellow)
RG (Radioactive green)
BAC (Barely any change)
@@isaacthered yellow latias? kinda ugly
@@NotTellingL0L You skipped ubers, which would be like half black shinies cause of course it would
Sorry but Rayquasa would have already done it
I always thought gigalith looks so much cooler than golem.
That's what 20 years will do to a design.
And I'd say that once it got sand stream, Gigalith is better than Kanto Golem. Stab EQ and Volt Switch blocking is really good, but sand stream is one of those abilities you can design a team around.
especially the shiny.
@@magicball3201 Sometimes less is more, but Boldore and Gigalith alike have a perfect amount of pizazz
tbf it had more of an actual design instead of O R B (plus spheal is a better orb lmao)
Agreed
It's nice to hear a story about a pokemon getting better overtime with constant ups and downs rather than slowly falling from grace like my boy heracross.
Do not say heracross fell from grace. My boy is still good mon in his terms and was holding some lower tiers together
Gigabits deserved a strong special attack stat for how surprisingly diverse its special moves were
Gigabits.
There should be a special variant of Huge Power.
it literally only ever had Earth Power, Flash Cannon, Solar Beam and Power Gem lmao
Ikr????? First time I owned a gigalith card I was shocked it wasnt a special rock type like cmon gamefreak drop the bulky physical rock types trope its getting annoying (except Nacl cause Im biased but still hate the trope tho)
@@enderluckjarmg985
Based Nacl fan.
I remember several rom hacks changing Gigalith by switching his Attack and Special Attack stat and changing his moveset to focus more on special moves like Power Gem and Earth Power. I thought it was a really cool change and helped differentiate it from basically all other Rock types.
Agree as well a nice way of changing things up
this is disrespectful to omastar
praise helix
pokemon inclement emerald
You must be talking about Inclement emerald cuz thats the only rom hack ik that did this lol. Its EXTREMELY good in that rom hack with all the special coverage it gets compared to physical coverage
@@frostee7245 Inclement Emerald yes, that's the one. I assumed more hacks used that version of Gigalith, but I might be wrong.
One of my favorite designs, I just love the red aspect it has such a cool contrast with the blue, also rock type rules, thx FSG
I got a shiny Boldore in my most recent playthrough! I tradebacked it and now its a beautiful blue boy!
@@australiananarchist480 Man gigalith is such a gem
Gigalith is yet another example of what happens when you give a Pokemon the power to set up weather upon entry - its viability skyrockets. But imagine how good it would have been if it got Sand Stream in Gen 5...
Honestly, I'd love to see metagames on showdown like, you can only use Unova pokemon, but theyre updated to the current versions
The weather war between gigalith and vanilluxe would be so entertaining to see, sandstorm would be able to actually buff their respective side, but hail is full of overcoat and magic guard users to balance out
Id love to see it
Hopefully this foreshadows Torkoal later in the month…
It saved the likes of Politoed, Ninetales, Torkoal, and Pelipper from falling into useless obscurity.
One of my favorite Rock types, and gen 5 Pokemon as well.
Both the regular and Shiny are incredible and cool in a way that highlight each other rather than "I think the Regular/Shiny is just a lot better than the other" like many mons are
I firmly believe that Gigalith should have been a Special attacker with moves like Thunderbolt to take advantage of the crystals on its body.
It should've had colossal Sp. Defense instead of the usual sky high Defense most Rock-types are typecast with. And with Sand Stream in the picture it would've been like a Rock-type Blissey.
I wish Gigalith was a special rock instead of another physical. Many pokedex entries mention it having incredible energy blasting powers. It getting stuff like thunderbolt, energy ball, and fire blast would have been more interesting and probably useful. Either way, I love this thing because of how it looks visually. One of the coolest rocks and super menacing. Boldore isn't even half bad when used in game with eviolite if you lack the friends to trade.
I’m actually surprised no one tried out the Iron Defense + Body Press strategy for Gigalith in Gen 8.
No reliable recovery
@@Trollrijas hmm if you upped its hp and gave it a good form of recovery you think it could been a threat?
@@darkestlight660 You still need Trick Room for it. Maybe as a Mid-To-Late game wallbreaker.
awesome seeing gigalith transform into a certified tier ruler multiple times in multiple tiers in the same generation!
It would have been more interesting if Gigalith were a special attacker. Its Pokedex suggests that it would be. But then they give it generic standard Rock type stats.
But hey , at least it’s one of the coolest standard rock type
I once caught a roggenrola in a Black run that had lonely nature, and the fact I couldn't evolve it for reasons brought me great sadness, so I developed quite the fondness for the line. Thanks for addressing it!
Gigalith is also pretty good in Conquest. Though it's slow and can only move 2 spaces at a time Stone Edge (which hits in a + shape in front of it) helps make up for that provided it hits.
I miss Conquest, wish we could see another Pokemon game in the same vein as it someday. Maybe not another Nobunaga's Ambition spinoff, but something else overall?
I just love how gigalith looks. Especially the shiny is very cool looking.
Gigalith:" I have 130 defense, I'm unkillable on the physical."
Gigalith when he realised that his most viable set is special defense:" Arceus christ, why is my defense never used!!!"
It's not easy having high physical Defense when you're weak to Ground and Fighting, most of which are physically based.
Gigalith is one of the best mons in ORAS ZU, and it was a great Normal-resist for standing up to Purugly before the fat cat was banned.
I can't help thinking that one of the best boosts Gigalith could be given isn't a boost to itself but the creation of an ability that automatically sets Trick Room conditions
Would be a nice new ability for Beeheyem, another Gen 5 Pokémon that has been overlooked
I wish we got that and another ability that sets Gravity, as well as an item to extend them similar to terrain extender. Both would be really cool additions.
FINALLY !! We Got Him ! The Gen 5 mon with one of the best shinies in the game 😄
Now i know even more about my boy Gigalith thanks to you.
I wish you would make Crustle and Bronzong one too. If you can of course, please.
Ngl the entire gigalith evolution line has amazing designs. Boldore in particular stands out to me though idk why
Gen 5 pokemon are so amazing. I dearly hope the gen 5 remakes are done justice, even though I don't expect that to happen.
Gigalith is my favorite Pokémon, and I have been waiting for this video
I always thought Gigalith was a crystal spider. That might just be me though.
Also, I'd give Gigalith more Special Defense than Defense. Making it a Rock-type Blissey sounds nice in my book.
Just take 20-40 Sp.Atk and put it in Sp.Def, It'd be a non legendary Ting-Lu!~
Really excited for this one. Keep up the good work
“Gigalith had arguably the most disappointing, drastic drop of Generation 5”
Zoroark: 😐
The first mon that comes to mind when thinking of sturdy is Roggenrola, made grinding take longer but it was easy to know which to catch.
Having a pure rock geodude was an interesting twist.
This is still my favorite rock type ever. Since I first found out about it in Black/White.
What I love is as I watch this series, I play Pokemmo and figure out how I can best use whatever Pokémon I’m watching about in a team. It’s so much fun trying to do that
Gigalith is more exciting to use in the Inclement Emerald ROM hack because they make it a special attacker instead of a physical attacker. They wanted it to stand out from Golem.
Plus it learns Power Gem, Aurora Beam, Earth Power, Weather Ball, Thunderbolt and Dazzling Gleam in the game. So it has a good special movepool.
I believe it has solar power too?
It caught me off guard
@@IgnitedQuils Get that Assault Vest with Max SD nature and SD boosting nature in the sand and you’ll be good to go.
I didn’t even know that Gigalith got a special defense buff in Gen 6 lol
I had an Eviolite Boldore when I played Gen 5 and Gen 7, was a great team member. Love the Sandstorm buff
The only mon who i used in my sand teams for draft, i carried him in my BW playthrough like the baby he is, i love this video
I only just started binging the channel but I absolutely love your presentation style for these videos! Very confident and quick, snappy and informative, and this video is no exception, great work!
Do we do suggestions here? Bc Ive noticed something I would find really helpful - whenever youre talking about a pokemon that outclasses the focus of the video, like Rhyperior with Gigalith, it would be nice if you had a little stat spread for that pokemon as well somewhere to compare the two, to give more context to your explanation. But if not thats fine! Keep up the good work
I will always remember this Pokémon from NBz’s 5 guys and a gigalith series. Good times.
Gigalith is the most overlooked sandsetter. Having higher defense than TTar and having no 4x weakness while also retaining the sky-high attack is worth a lot, even if it’s overall worse. Its stats are also some of the most minmaxed in the earlier Gens
6:07 "Sand Stream ...leaving Golem in the dust". Nice line.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
would love to see a breakdown of the playstyle differences between doubles and singles
Always interested me that Rom hacks that change Gigalith make it a Special Attacking Sun Threat
Those early Gen 5 days before we had access to the full Rex were so fun. That Stealth Rock > Sturdy > Custab Berry > Explosion opener was great
Already know this fsg video is gonna be incredible
gen 5 was when i got into competitive pokemon, playign showdown anytime i could get on the school computer's
i wasnt very good at all cause i was 13, but i liked how gigalith looked so i threw him on my team and he was a mainstay until gen 6 came out and i stopped being serious about comp
Less goo, my boi Gigalith
Being a 5th gen fan, I'm excited to know more about it. My first ever egg from a Pokémon Daycare was between two Gigalith I evolved thanks to my brother
Always loved this mon and the way it looked but never had friends so I couldn't use it ingame until I started playing Pokemon Conquest, and I loved it even more.
banded gigalith was one of my favorite mons to use in gen 8 VGC. just clicking the rock slide button in TR felt so good (i liked WP on other things)
Gigalith was one of my favorite gen 5 Pokémon ever! Glad to see it got covered today!
My favorite rock type?!?! In *this* kind of video?! What a day!
Gotta say that gigalith has one of my favourite shinies
This reminds me of the time I had no one to trade with so I stuck with my Level 100 Boldore just spamming Rock Blast all day. Good times 😅
Gigalith's design is awesome and has become one of my favorites
I'm not into shiny hunting but Gigalith shiny is one of the few "must get"
I love Gigalith! is so cool!! specially it's shiny variant, those crystals are awesome
I once had a concept for a Mega Evolution for Gigalith:
Mega Gigalith
Typing: Rock/Ghost
HP: 80
Attack: 170
Defense: 165
Special Attack: 20
Special Defense: 170
Speed: 5
Ability: Nihil Crystals
- Mega Gigalith's crystals glow an ominous purple when in battle. Suppreses an opponent's Ability from activating.
Text: "An ominous aura spreads across the battlefield! All abilities are prevented from activating!"
GIGALITH was amongst my favorite from the 5th Gen era, along side GOLURK. I even used him when I played through Sword! Such a cool design….
I can even see a Region Variant being ROCK/ELEC!
5 guys and a gigalith was the series that got me interested in competitive pokemon :)
I used one in my B2 run, not the one you get for trading, i had a black copy and traded with myself
Honestly one of my favorite mons. Loved it
Man its like a mirror to pelipper cause having a weather ability along with utility/power can make most pokemon better.
Drop everything boys, new False Swipe video is out
It's nice to see a rock type to actually get some kind of happy ending, let alone actually stand up against a crowd of types that have virtually same stat spreads as it
I used a mono rock team in the monotype tier back in gen 7, and between Gigalith and Tyranitar, it felt impossible to lose, even against water and ground teams. Steel teams were my one real weakness
Gigalith is a truly underrated Pokémon. Other than its speed & typing, everything else about it is very solid. Honestly, I think players underestimated it in the pre-Gen VII games.
It’s speed is a bit too high yeah shame it can’t outspeed ferrothorn in trickroom.
Gigalith was part of my best singles team on anything goes in pokemon showdown. Everyone assumed he was a stealth rock setter with little damage output, so they were real surprised when they got hit with a 600 attack choice band explosion or stone edge that could sometimes straight up kill pokemon who resisted it.
Very nice video!
Thanks for the "How Good/Bad are these Pokemon actually."
Such an amazing design. Instant classic.
I like Gigalith. Always a good mon to get in randbats
I'm honestly surprised you don't have 1m subs yet
Imagine my surprise when the evolution of my favorite rock type (Roggenrola) truned out to be quite good in comp
Recently started using Ass Vest Gigalith with nothing but SpDef and bulk and a little offense and Holy hell it does so well
How amazing is Gigalith’s shiny ACTUALLY?
I got a shiny gigalith in gen 5 and made it a dumb max speed rock polish set, it was funny and i still have it somewhere in Home. One of my favorite gen 5 mons (especially the shiny)
I remember when I did a nuzlocke of White, and I accidentally caught a roggenrolla while trying to catch drillbur. I named her Bud I was mad at first, but then Bud was a powerhouse, she had a perfect nature and was perfect for my team and she had sturdy. By the end of my run ( I lost Ghetsis) she was the carry of my team. Genuinely one of my favourite play throughs of a Pokémon game.
Why do you write this
This thing has such an awesome design
Of course Gigalith's true fame was being the titular member of five guys and a gigalith.
I love Gigalith and it’s cool too see his history in competitive isn’t all doom and gloom 👌👌👌
what a glow up! proud of him.
Nice video
Gigalith one of my fav pokemon, he just looks so sick
Golem: “I found you, faker!”
Gigalith: “Faker? Ha! You’re not even good enough to be my fake!”
Golem: “I’ll make you eat those words!”
One of the rare cases of a new pokemon being outclassed by an old one (Potential video Idea on REVERSE power creep).
I think since gigalith learns a lot of charging moves like Solar Beam and Meteor Beam, it should have an Ability that let's it use charge-up and recharge moves immediately. Also give it Rock Wrecker.
Or give it Head Smash
@@aldwych285 that's a recoil move
@@bluebaron6811 I was thinking I could give it either reckless or rock head as another ability
Shout outs to 5 Guys and a Gigalith. All the OGs know what I'm talking about.
I like Gigalith! I'm glad it was better than I thought 😊
Sand Stream is so defining on this mon that i'd honestly forgotten it didn't have that ability for the first few years.
Gigalith my beloved. Favorite Pokémon hands down
投稿ありがとうございます。次はノココッチ系統やガチグマ系統楽しみです。
I would love to see one for Whimsicott
During my first play through of Sword I found a random shiny Rogenrola and the Little Rock instantly joined my team
Love this video, gigalith is my favorite pokemon!
I love geology, and have always loved shiny Steelix. I loved shiny Gigalith right away!
I know rock isn't a great defensive typing, but it still seems crazy something with Giga's stats + sand could end up in PU. Seems like even just max hp could tank just about everything and its offense is clearly nothing to sneeze at.
Rock type explosion that sets up sand storm and/or removes hazards.
I'm surprised no one is mentioned the length of this video versus heatrans video 💀
One of my absolute favourite rock type Pokemon, Pokemon in general AND probably my favourite Shiny ever ^^ Love Gigalith
A special attack and defense based Ghost-Rock regional form would be sick
Ghostly energy has corrupted the crystals
