Genesis 30:23 And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach: Isaiah 4:1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
His whole family was. My grandmother was married to Billy's grandson. She was quite a bit older than him. Ma Sunday actually died in my grandmother's house. Her husband, the grandson, died 2 1/2 months later. The Sunday family went after my grandmother and got everything from her. Paul Haines, the grandson, was a rather well-to-do man in his own right. The Sunday family got everything but the house and $5,000. accused her of being a "gold digger". Not, she lived 35 more years ALONE.
Sunday was certainly a racist and a xenophobe. Thus he had the active support of the Ku Klux Klan during its heyday in the 20's, and chose to reside in the state that had the greatest number of Klan members in history (Indiana). Still, I think his story needs to be told, warts and all. He greatly influenced many other pulpiteers by both his style and substance.
Now this is worth spending money on... We need more preaching like Billy Sunday

I have a feeling these folks are going to put Billy in the most negative light that they possibly can. Sad.

His whole family was what? Your first sentence is incomplete.

He was a rather hideous chap, all told. One who trafficked in fear and hate more than unity and love... picking the tiny deity of fiction every time.
But I bet he could spell better than you can.
