    Both Ford and Carter were excellent politicians but didn't practice that trade in the same way. Ford was the true insider when that wasn't a smear for a politician. He knew everyone and made friends with virtually everyone in Congress. He really did work across the aisle to accomplish the work of our nation. That is why he was so uncontroversial when nominated for Vice President. Carter was a good heart, but was rough on his staff. He was one of those men with a sharp, quick mind and was intolerant when others couldn't keep up. The Iran Hostage situation is one of those times he showed his humanity. He could of waged war on Iran and killed many people. But in his heart he knew this was a political situation that could be resolved peacefully. But he also went back channel to the dissidents to make sure they understand that patience was not weakness and if they harmed any of the hostages retribution would be immediate and harsh.

    • @Black_Caucus
      @Black_Caucus 2 дня назад +2

      Also Reagan was literally committing treason and talking to Iran at the time (as a candidate and non-federal government official) to try and get them to keep the hostages LONGER and delay the release that was upcoming imminently... in order to help him in the election against Carter. And unfortunately for us all, it worked and was heavily responsible for Reagan winning because it painted a false narrative and picture of Carter being weak and ineffective, despite that very thing being caused by Reagan and his campaign's actions directly. Truly treasonous stuff Reagan did back in the day. Don't even get me started on Iran Contra.

Many of the pop stars from 2000 like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and J Lo are still relevant today as well, just older. Heck even The Rock, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt anyd Leonardo DiCaprio are still a big deal today. Who was a pop star in 1975 that was truly still relevant in 2000? Maybe a washed up Michael Jackson? Isn't Gerald Ford older than Jimmy Carter? In this interview they look about the same age and if anything, Carter looks much older than Ford. I just Googled the information. President Ford was born in 1913 while President Carter was born 11 years after in 1924 but looks much older than his predecessor. Anyways, RIP to both gentlemen.

      And yet Jimmy Carter outlived Ford by 18 years. Ford died at 93 and Carter, as we all know, at 100.

    The 2000 election would be my last vote for a Republican...and no, I've never voted Democrat. W got us into Iraq, so couldn't vote for him in 04. Abstentions or third-party since. It's absolutely disgusting what we have now coming into this office again, and leaving in 2025

    It's crazy to hear them say how rude and mean presidential campaigns were back in 2000. I was 12 years old during the 2000 election and I just don't remember I do remember how weird it was when Al Gore had one Florida and then suddenly it was undecided and then George Bush won florida, but I wasn't really aware of what their campaigning was because I just didn't really pay attention. I was more into playing video games although I definitely still play them today just not as often as I used to.
    I think it's considerably a lot more uncivil today than it was back then that's for sure

    That one liner of reagans. I refuse to make my opponents youth and inexperience an issue in this campaign. I thought that was awfully unfair to mondale. That eas the turning point to reagan s slaughter. I doubt if teagan even wrote that line. And theres no snappy comeback. Was it your age and experience that makes ypu want to give the russians our star wars intellectual property. Star wars was later though ithink.

    Honestly, I feel a small amount of animosity toward the Democrats because of how they lambast the wealthy (I'm not rich), and various other policies that to me denigrate basic economics principles. I think the liberal candidates (for president) have gotten more and more incompetent over time. And even though Carter presided during a difficult time, I never had those feelings toward him. The greatest thing he did was hire Paul Volcker as Fed Chairman, which had a huge impact in the years that followed.

    As of this year, January 4, 2025... It was everyone's little darling, Ronald Reagan, who ushered in the new era of nastiness. Whoa! It's just so disgusting what we have become. 😮
