Just bought a 2nd body. 2400 for s5ii and 3 lenses (2060, 28200, and 50). Unbelievable. Also with the new fw upgrade and the way it handles and stabilization. You cannot beat this camera.
Good day hope your doing well, You are able to change almost all the buttons on the camera to custom set buttons, I set the front button next to the lens an a operation lock button which would fix your lack of lock dial issue. I shot on Sony A7iv and A7siii from November to late April and honestly I loved to Sony Ecosystem but I will always be a Panasonic user because of the colors and stabilization. I currently own the s5iiX and I've been loving it. You actually taught me something regarding the 3k opengate for high frame rate. Thank you so much.
From how I’ve used it so far the FX3 has a much more robust image. You can under or over expose it a lot more than the S5ii. The S5ii image is much more similar to the A7iv which makes sense given the price.
@@JonathanPalfrey Looking forward for the video! No one on RUclips actually made an in depth review of how the lens pairs with the s5ii/x so that will definitely be an interesting one!
As an s5iiX owner if you're able to get it on discount and understand exactly why your purchasing it all I have to say is it's an amazing versatile camera that can cover everything from events to corporate media.
@@moojoo1972 originally yes however we’ve seen open gate used plenty of times commercially over the last few years. Might be a short lived tread but makes sense with the need for vertical content
Panasonic is light-years ahead on colors. Sorry Sony but Slog3 is garbage to work with and no prores is a joke. Once ppl open their eyes and realize how good the color is it changes the game, if they don't, more for us.
Ugly colors are keeping me away from Sony, and Fuji's lovely colors are keeping me with Fuji, even with Fuji's terrible autofocus issues. Panasonic Lumix cameras could be the right sweet sport of good colors and functioning autofocus. I'm really considering getting GH7 or S5IIX if I feel I can afford full-frame lenses and live without 4K120.
Honestly I think they both have their pros and cons when it comes to colours. I’ve always found Panasonic leans a bit magenta. Sony can look great however I’ve always found it struggles if you don’t nail the white balance. Blackmagic are still king of colour in this price range for me.
Most people never used the A1 or A7RV to say this. I found the colors of the A1 and A7RV better than the S5II. And even Sony has better detail rendering than Panasonic with the S5II now. I must shoot in external raw with the S5II to get the same great details rendering of the S5 and S1. So yes the S5II has Open Gate and great IBIS in 4K but I don't think the camera is as great as some people say. And the only recent Panasonic camera with really nicer colors than the last Sony is the GH6. Blackmagic cameras also have great colors. The S5II, G9II and GH7 have worse colors in my opinion.
@@breadpitt9687 The GH6 is cheaper than the S5II. Also the A7IV has almost the same color science than the A7RV and can be found for 2000$. In addition, both the S1 and the S5 are also much cheaper than the S5II now, and they much nicer detail rendering in video. If for the S1II or S1HII Panasonic can bring back the same video quality than the S5, S1H or S1, they will be the best.
Spot on mate, I did exactly the same - for £1.1K it's a total no brainer... nothing on the planet is any better value than this gem!

Just released a video about the 3.3K open gate. Really impressed with the mode and I can see it being incredibly useful.
How does compare it to the Sony FX3 in terms of video?

Thanks for the video! Have you tried pairing it with the sigma 18-35? If so how was it?
Not yet as I don’t have our one on me however something I will be testing in the next month, especially with the 3.3k mode

Somy does offer those thing, either via firmware update aka new bodies or only of their R models. One of my biggest regrets was going with Sony
I looking for a S5 IIX. For what I search is the best value camara in the middle price range.

Is the 4k 60p crop an APSC mode or is it just 1.4 crop??
Thanks
APSC crop. The 3.3k crop is quite different though. Same number of pixels overall just less width and more height
Fuck the open gate its bullshit!!! As filmmaker I never use open gate!!! I shoot films not tick tok and RUclips videos
Open gate is very popular with filmmakers shooting films. Seen loads of commercials and films which have been shot open gate on the Alexa.
@@JonathanPalfrey It is designed for using anamorphic lens.
