  • This was my first time using both Tru-oil and coloured stain (as opposed to dye). The Viper is starting to look great!

Nice! Tru oil is great. I recommend using coffee filters to apply it...totally lint free and don't break down like paper towels. Also after use be sure to wet down any paper, rags etc, to avoid spontaneous combustion.

Hey there. Have you any experience using tru oil over a blue stain? I’m concerned if it will change the coloring due to its natural amber hues

I've never used Tru-oil over blue. But I've just done a google image search. It looks like plenty of people have, with nice looking results.

What was the verdict on stain under Tru Oil? Thank you for sharing the project.

I *love* the way this water based stain looks under tru-oil. I'll definitely be using this combination again.

Very nice!! Did the tru oil darken the stain?

Thanks! Yes, the Tru-oil did slightly darken the colour.
