I played my part in that cut thru. My husband and I hauled tons of ice to the site to be dumped into the cement in the heat of summer so that the cement would cool as to not set up so quickly.
Pikeville itself was very fortunate in that we didn’t have any flood damage. It was mostly just to the south of us, where our neighbors were hit hard. We hope people don’t forget about them. The state is encouraging building up out of the flood plain and they have made a few announcements about spending state money to establish housing at higher elevations. So we don’t think everything will be built back by any stretch.

Do you think they will re-build the structures that are in the flood plain? A lot got wasted during this latest flood...
