Earlier this year, I went to "The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation" near Detroit and got to see the first Ford Taurus off the production line. It was bright Red and still in pristine condition. It was one of the best moments of my life.
im trying to find the one that says "ford has seen where were going, ford has heard us loud and clear, ford has seen the future and the future is here"
awesome commercial! I'm a general motors guy myself, but our family car is a 94 taurus wagon...this ad makes me proud we own one.our family is like the one at 19 seconds.
I had an 1990 Taurus LX with the digital dash in high school. It was a great car and cheap to fix. Ford blew the completion away with this. Chrysler copied Taurus with the 1993 LH platform and GM copied Taurus with the redesigned B body bubble shaped Caprice/Road master/ Custom Cruiser Oldsmobile and these were not a hit a first only with the police/ municipal government brought most of these. The only week spot in the first generation Taurus was the Ford AOD (Automatic 4 speed Overdrive) overdrive would go out and shell the transmission. Some of the Taurus's had a 3 speed auto and these were made from 1986-1989 and were bulletproof with the Vulcan 3.0L V-6. Stay away from all Ford 3.8L V-6 these are all junk have weak head bolts and blow head gaskets around 80,000 miles. I still think the first generation Taurus is a good looking car. Ford almost killed it with the third Generation Taurus and lost almost half of their sales overnight it was ugly and looked like an upside down bathtub on wheels. Government and GSA brought bunch of these 1996-1999 Taurus as fleet vehicle's.
One thing I don't understand. Notice the digital gauges at 0:17. They're digital and yet it's only a 5-digit odometer? I can understand with an analog one you'd need to redesign the cluster to fit the extra spindle, but there's all that room on the odometer display they could've displayed it in millions if they wanted to! How hard is it to just display an extra digit?
What I don't get is what happened to them. I've been looking for a Taurus for about a Month now, thanks to this Ad, but only managed to find some from '89 or '90. None of them seem to have these gauges though, just a regular set. Was the digital dash a first-year feature only?
@@carsnstuff1344 Thanks man, it's tough to find accurate info on this stuff. Most sources just cover engine and trans options, but not the quirky stuff like dash layouts.
It's sad to know that 99% of these cars are in the junkyard. My Nana used to have a 1997 taurus but one day it just stoped working. But I love the jingle.
Some things Ford has gotten better but some hasn't like the Explorer when they started producing the 02+ They started failing at making a good SUV and I'm even a Ford guy.

i love the 80's and early 90's Commercials they where way better then they are now
I love this Taurus jingle. Very catchy.
Cars were so much better in the 70s, 80s, & 90s. And their commercials too.
my favorite taurus, I still have my taurus wagon from 1988
Those are super rare these days! Practically extinct!
they need to take the old Taurus jingle and recreate it for the new one
agreed. 30 second commercials. thats what it's about.
im trying to find the one that says "ford has seen where were going, ford has heard us loud and clear, ford has seen the future and the future is here"
I think the Ford Taurus, with its original body style, would, based on only aesthetics, still sell very well today.
thats true still see lots of them on the streets today and none of them had bad looks at all
You got that right. I love these old commercials and cars in the `80s looked a lot better too.

I'm going to restore an 86 LX wagon. I found one I might buy soon.

@@vtr0104 I think LX trim had the digital gauges but then went to analog with a tach for 90 and 91. I might be off a year though,

I'd rock the wagon, but I'm a scorpio.
@lcfanyc , Are you kidding? the WORST styling for any vehicle company was the 80's!!!
I Wish I could put the 3800 Series II from my totaled GTP in my 93 SHO
Everyone in the 1980s had a beige (aka, gold) Tatis wagon
I love this Ford Taurus wagon, my favorite
I love my 2013 Taurus awd what a car
Good quality video...love it!
oh cool was it a sedan or wagon model?? and does she still have it?? what color was it?? i love these cars
I agree 100%. It`s still very pleasing to the eye, uniquely mainstream American. It puts a lot of today`s bland designs to shame.
I love Ford Taurus 86-88, wagon is my favorite
@NP535overdrive Each to his own.

i agree

my mom had a sable
Sable is fantastic car

TAURUS O_O
blaster1812 Foot Lettuce
haha the fuckin car goes 0-60 in like 3 weeks
Not really.
then you go for the Taurus SHO
transmissions like to blow up on Taurus around 100,000 miles
yeah that was the only achilles heel of the car. But the Vulcan engine was a good reliable engine.
That's why you service them every 50,000 miles.
Pinto?! i wouldn't buy it if they had the fanciest commercial for it! it's a death trap
That's a myth.
I love this Taurus jingle. Very catchy.
