Excellent fighter but clearly not in the same class as Holyfield or Lewis. He didn't win a round against either man. That’s without mentioning Douglas who beat him convincingly too.
This is the one fight we’re Mike needed serious training plus a good corner. He just went out there flailing, no kind of execution. Plus, he didn’t expect Holyfield chin to be that solid.
Mike was never a better fighter than Evander, even in the amateur ranks. Tyson would intimidate his opponents before the fight, but Evander was different. What Mike should have focused on was getting all those snakes and leeches out his camp. All the people around him at that time deceived him for his money, even his best friend. Mike couldn't have been focused with all the drama around him, and that plays a part in a major fight, you gotta have people around you who has your best interests.

@@Renatogabriel1221 You say Tyson only knocked out Tomato Cans but Holyfield never beat 3 different fighters for the WBA, WBC, and IBF to became undisputed champ. Only way Holfield became undisputed is Douglas laying down for him. Holyfield never gained 3 belts any other way. Once Bowe beat Holyfield he never again gained them all back. So without Tyson losing to Douglas Holyfield doesn't have any undisputed legacy as a 3 belt holder in the heavyweight division. He struggled to beat an old Larry Holmes and lost to Bowe Twice and Moorer in his prime. As for Lennox he didn't fight anybody good during their prime. Most guys Lewis fought were well out of their prime when he fought them. He was also knocked out twice glass jaw style.

Had Holyfield beat Tyson before Tyson went to jail, I would say Holyfield is the better fighter. Tyson was never the same after he fired his trainer, Kevin Rooney.
No excuses, but truth. Holyfield was also on steroids. Balco was under investigation for selling steroids to athletes like Olympian Sprinter, Marion Jones. Holyfield's number was in Balco's rolodex. Tyson's comeback after jail was not enough to prepare him for a juiced up Holyfield that had been active way before Tyson was released. There is no way you can have a body like Holyfield's being a professional boxer unless you are juiced up. Strange how Holyfield did not knock out Lennox Lewis. Holyfield should have clobbered Lennox, who always had a suspect chin no matter how good Lennox's skills were. Lennox and Holyfield also should have fought in their primes. I am a fan of all three boxers. Do your research and be open to the facts.
@anpuarcturus you went on an entire tirade about his career, the same old, tired tirade of excuses that only Tyson gets for failing to hit the mark in the 90s. True greatness is Muhammad Ali being exiled and returning at less than his best to STILL emerge as the best of the Golden Age 1970s. YOU and millions of deluded fans need to accept he wasn't the best. It's been almost 30 years, seriously. Holyfield never failed a drug test and you need to hold EVERYONE to the same standard for that time. EVERYONE was juicing across ALL of sports "allegedly". In no world is Mike Tyson a better fighter than Evander Holyfield. You're feelings on the matter are irrelevant. And I guess Ken Norton was juicing too in the 70s with his physique? Nice revisitonist history too. The Holyfield fight was a cherrypick gone horribly wrong for Mike. Paid Lennox 5 million stepaside money b/c he knew he'd have been beaten at the time only to be embarrassed by a Holyfield that was thought to be shot after his overall lackluster return and KO loss to Big Daddy Bowe. He was a major underdog who pulled off the upset of the year, but now he isn't given credit b/c everyone loves riding Tyson. Evander had been chasing the title since 1989 and TYSON is the one who blew any chance of them meeting up to 1991. Do YOUR research. It is MIKE's fault he went to prison and fell off even before that. It's HIS fault the fights with Evander and Lennox happened far past their due dates. It's HIS fault for letting Rooney and Cayton go. Lennox having a 'suspect' chin is a dead giveaway of your casual nature, regurgitating the same nonsense. You don't survive shots from Ray Mercer, Shannon Briggs, Frank Bruno, Razor Ruddock, Evander Holyfield, and Mike Tyson with a 'suspect' chin. McCall and Rahman caught Lewis with flash KO shots he didn't see coming, his chin was just fine. And Evander didn't knock out Lennox b/c Lewis does NOT lack a chin, obviously. All the same casual, nonsense excuses that have been recycled around the internet by Tyson's rampant, deluded fanbase. I'm surprised the headbutts weren't brought up. Tyson, even at his best, would've had hell against Lennox, Riddick, and Evander. Stop revising history and let the hype train go. Tyson just isn't the best, even of his own era. He failed to beat the top names of the 90s and in the 80s, had he fought a PEAK Easton Assassin, he'd have been in real trouble (Tyson gets the "prime" argument all the time so I'm giving it to Larry too). Cut the crap and get with the times.
@@TheCharlesJackson, for me, the steroid thing isn't the issue. Instead, I'll focus on Tyson. Tyson's decline post-Rooney was fairly evident. In other words, after the Spinks fight in 1988 (the last fight where Rooney coached him), Tyson became lazier. Watch Tyson vs. Bruno in 1989 and you'll see it. No more of his consistent head movement and misdirecting his opponents. Instead, Tyson became a less patient fighter constantly in search of a singular KO opportunity. A 3 year stint in prison further deteriorated his skills. Holyfield is an elite boxer, but some of us would've loved to see prime Holyfield vs. prime Tyson in order to better understand how they matched up against each other. Honestly, this is similar to my wondering how different Ali's career would've been if wasn't banned from boxing from 1967 (at the age of 25) until 1971.
Yeah I thought the same. It was cooper that nearly pulled off a shock win against holyfield. Evander had to hit bert with everything and more to force the ref to intervene. Bert was a game fighter, mike was unusually spiteful towards a fellow pro.

They were scheduled to fight in ‘91, but Tyson backed out with a rib injury. Many suspected, at the time, that Tyson remembered getting dominated by Holyfield during Olympic trials. Evander just had a style that confused Tyson.
The irony of all of this is that Mike’s team ducked Holyfield at a time when Mike would have annihilated him, period! Pre-jail, even after Douglass loss, Mike was bigger, stronger, quicker, and had more stamina. He went 19 rounds with Ruddock. No disrespect to Holyfield; he’s the real life Rocky Balboa.
I agree, except Tyson was not bigger or stronger before prison. Faster, yes. But Tyson was heavier and more muscular after prison. '95-'97 he was massive.
It's not a coincidence that Mike only started talking trash when he started to lose his edge and skills as a fighter. When he was at his absolute peak he was respectful, thoughtful, humble and intelligent. As soon as his skills started to fade, which was very quickly considering, he started to sound like a complete prick and thought he could scare people into losing. It worked....until it didn't . Until he fought the only real fighter he ever fought....don't get me wrong Buster was a great fighter, for one night. Holyfield was great his entire career. He wasn't the least but intimidated by Mike and Mike knew it. It's why he lashed out in the 2nd fight. He knew he couldnt beat Holyfield so his inner coward came out. You can't hide from who you are in the ring. Tyson showed he was a coward that night. He even waited till Holyfield turned his back to push him. This is the big bad monster that everytime was afraid of?? Tyson straight up acted like a bitch that night. And I'm sure he'd be the first to admit it. Terrifying fighter in his short prime but in any other era he would've been a level beneath everyone. Foreman would've decapitated him. Ali would've played with him. It's crazy how many people say Mike is the best Heavyweight ever. Not even close.
Tyson got beat by Buster Douglas. He is not that tough. Holyfield dominated Tyson. Tyson went from "Iron Mike" to candy-ass Mike. Not to mention that he's a big quitter. His last professional fight against Kevin McBride showed he had no real heart. End of story.
He was also asking his corner to stop the fight against Lewis, looked to cause an accidental headbut against Holyfield in the first fight and earned a DQ in the second fight
@@naajee90 that's bs btw. Against Lewis he showed tremendous heart imo. He took that beating like a man. Hollyfield actually fought Lewis dirty.

Holyfield beat the most over rated heavyweight in history. Beat him easy
It's funny they fought Tyson after his decline...
Had Holyfield beat Tyson before Tyson went to jail, I would say Holyfield is the better fighter. Tyson was never the same after he fired his trainer, Kevin Rooney.
Not even close
That's not Holyfield's fault. Excuses.
That was some BS what Mike said about Bert Cooper
Yeah I thought the same. It was cooper that nearly pulled off a shock win against holyfield. Evander had to hit bert with everything and more to force the ref to intervene. Bert was a game fighter, mike was unusually spiteful towards a fellow pro.
@@alarmactionukalarmactionuk893
And Bert did it on short notice too. While Tyson copped out by biting Holyfield's ear. Similar to Golotas low blows. They wanted the easy way out and got it.

Holyfield is a bad man, look at the fighter he has fought, remember he was undisputed cruiserweight champion, he fought and beat the legendary Dwight Muhammad Qwai who was a lot like tyson but obviously smaller, a forward marching machine of a boxer.... holyfield wasn't scared 1 little bit it seemed, he knew he could beat Tyson , holyfield is the type of guy who will say he could beat any boxer thst ever lived, that's the type of guy he is.. Holyfield didn’t fight Tyson in his prime
Holyfield wasn't exactly at his peak when they fought either.
They were scheduled to fight in ‘91, but Tyson backed out with a rib injury. Many suspected, at the time, that Tyson remembered getting dominated by Holyfield during Olympic trials. Evander just had a style that confused Tyson.
Everyone saying he wasnt scared but all those headbutts say different lmao

Ali would've handled Tyson easily but i cant say the same for Holyfield. I think Holyfield would've made Ali work for it.

Holyfield beat the brakes off Tyson.
Headbutt master
Holyfield won because of the constant headbutts and punching below the belt!
poor Tyson got thumped all over the place.
Holyfield was juiced and headbutted Tyson. But no one listens to that part of the story, they only look at flashy news headlines.
I don't think Hollyfield humbled him. Tyson was pretty respectful to Hollyfield prior to the fight. He acknowledged Hollyfield was a gifted fighter.
Michael had no chance.....
