It's fascinating seeing the "Is Anakin at fault for his own actions or was it the Council's poor decisions" debate in real time during the raw first experience of the movie. This is why I love Star Wars.

It was 100% the council because they were so closed off with actually helping the problems of the galaxy but instead got involved with politics and stopped their true job. This is why Dooku turned to the dark side. This is why Ahsoka left the Jedi Order. And this is why Anakin betrayed and kill them all😪

It can’t be said for certain which it is, and Palpatine’s direct influence can’t be ignored either. That’s what makes it such a compelling tragedy. We know it’s going to happen, and when we see what could have been done to stop it, there’s no “just one thing” to change that would have saved the galaxy.

Why didn't Obi-Wan show mercy instead of leaving Anakin to suffer? Because he literally said earlier on that he wouldn't, they were like brothers. As much as it clearly pained him to do so, he would rather let fate deal with Anakin instead of by his own hand. The same reason why when he confronted Vader in IV: Obi-Wan wasn't planning to fight to win, he was sacrificing himself to Anakin to let Luke and the others escape.

The dark side completely clouds a person when they give into it. No matter what they may or felt or believed before once someone has fully immersed themselves in the dark side they give into there hatred and commit atrocities because that makes them stronger. That’s why it felt like anakin changed so drastically. He had hints of these personality traits anyway such as killing the Tuscans and murdering a defenceless dooku. Once the dark side took hold which it did once he helped murder Windu he realised that he could only keep going with the path he had chosen.

    • @Oshaoxin
      @Oshaoxin Год назад

Tuscans are raiding savages, they would continue to kidnap innocents and torture them before selling them into slavery. Count Dooku was a Sith Lord, and Sith Lords are never truly defenseless. The Jedi did bring this upon themselves in their attempt to shield Anakin, they lost to the prophecy from within. Morally, the Jedi were right but ultimately it didn't matter.

As Yoda says in empire strikes back "once you start the dark path forever it will dominated your destiny". Yoda and the jedi believed in that aspect. Anakin knew he had no way of turning back once he betrayed windu and choose the Palpatine over them. That was his choice and Palpatine orchestrated everything in a way the Jedi were caught in the corner. Yoda knew he had no choice as showed in clone wars to play the sith lords game and just hope anakin will choose the right path. Anakin didn't.

These takes are ridiculous. You are just spouting excuses for Anakin's behavior. At a certain point, personal responsibility MUST take effect.
A kid that had a tough upbringing, with no father in a rough neighborhood, kills a man in cold blood. How can you possibly blame anyone else but the kid? The father didn't pull the trigger. His bad-influence friends didn't pull the trigger. Society didn't pull the trigger. You can use all the ifs ands or buts you want, but that doesn't change who pulled the trigger.
To suggest otherwise is to make a mockery of those people who _actually overcome_ life's adversity, and further, you are _encouraging_ people facing adversity to give up on overcoming it and submit to, for lack of a better analogy, the dark side of the force.
Everyone is not dealt an equal hand at birth. That will never, ever change. Instead of making excuses for the ones that turn bad, _celebrate_ the ones that overcome it. We've forgotten how to do that as a society.
Now, I just used a very extreme example of someone with significant adversity. Relatively speaking, Anakin's adversity, while present, rather pales in comparison. He has a beautiful wife, he was given a seat on the council of (formerly) one of the most powerful committees in the galaxy, he has a great friend and mentor in Obi-Wan, and he is acknowledged to be one of, if not the most, powerful Jedi ever to exist. He has a lot to be thankful for. To try and blame the council for bloody creation of the empire, for killing children, for murdering the entire Jedi order, is bloody ridiculous. It turns out, they were absolutely correct to be wary of Anakin. Do you suggest they simply capitulate to every request Anakin gives them out of fear that Anakin has a hissy-fit and becomes the most powerful dark lord in the galaxy?
      Anakin: "Make me a master!"
      Council: "Okay"
Anakin: "Make me President of the council"
      Council: "Okay"
Anakin: "Make me ruler of the Jedi order!"
      Council: "Okay!"
It's a slippery slope. At some point, the council had to put their foot down. And let's be real, Anakin was still on the fast track to becoming a master. This was a pretty small bump in the road. It's like not making the varsity basketball team your freshman year, then murdering the coach out of anger. It's a very stupid chain of logic to somehow blame the victim (the coach) in that case.
Yet that's where we are -- blame the victim, and never acknowledge personal responsibility.

@@darthgrievous8055 it is exactly as it appears. I did forget to include how dishonest he was. He lived for years deceiving the jedi about his marriage. Tell me how he wasn't selfish. Everything he did he did for himself. He says before attacking Mace, "he must live, I need him". He disobeys his mandate to go save his mother and ten minutes later he refuses to go help Konobi, using his mandate as his excuse. He didn't care if Konobi lived or died. Because he blames him for his mother's death and constantly says Konobi "was holding me back" it's totally possible he wanted him to die. He tells Mace 'it's not the jedi way" when Mace says "he's to dangerous to be left alive" after he did the EXACT same thing to dooku. As Padme points out, Anikan will be expelled from the jedi order when it's discovered that he is the father of her children. His time is running out. He is to selfish to leave the order to be with Padme and raise their child. His ego won't allow him to sacrifice his standing as a jedi or give up his powers. He wants his cake and eat it too. He believes he is entitled to be a jedi. He believes he should be able to do as he pleases with no consequences. The councils mistake was letting Anikan know he was the chosen one. That knowledge helped create his sense of entitlement and fed his ego. Sidious used this to manipulate him. Telling Anikan he should get certain assignments, ect knowing he would not be selected. Anikan was a jedi knight, not a master, and was treated as such by the counsel. No other knights where chosen to go after grevious for example. But because Anikan believed he was better than all other jedi as the chosen one, he felt entitled. All he cared about was himself. He didn't turn for Padme. If he truly was doing it, he would have known that should would never go along with it. He wanted to save himself from the pain and suffering he would experience if she died. He felt like a failure when his mother died and didn't want to see himself as failing again if Padme died. He did it for himself. The prospect of becoming more powerful than any jedi was what he always wanted. He just found a faster way. In the end, his lies and deception caught up with him. His true self was about to become known. All the jedi, hell everyone, about to learn he was not a stand up guy. He was not this exceptional person nor did he believe or follow the jedi code. He was a liar. He deceived the counsel and the order for years. All with a smile on his face. And he still feels slighted when he is not made a master. Any person with even the slightest bit of introspective would not expect such honor. So please enlighten me as to why Anikan is not as selfish as he appears. Yes, my observation is simple because, his actions and words make it simple.

The dark side is more like a drug, you become addicted to how powerful you become and how easy it is to be powerful within. Jedi mainly use focus to become powerful within the light and it takes a lot to be that way. The dark side however is like a shortcut, it only relies on rage and anger. There’s a few things you guys missed in Palpatine’s “Darth Plagueis the Wise” story so I’ll mention them:
    1. The main reason for why Palpatine told the story to Anakin was to solidify Anakin’s curiosity of the Darkside by giving him a solution to save Padmé which you guys do imply in the vid. Although, what you missed was that the main reason Palpatine knows about Anakin wanting to save a loved one (Padmé) is because he knows about the dream Anakin had, in fact he’s the one who caused/implanted Anakin’s dream.
    2. The apprentice Palpatine mentions in the story is himself👀

When we spoke, Lucas expanded on the notion of Anakin’s divine origin. (Warning: The following may or may not be helpful to the uninitiated.) “It was a virgin birth in an ecosystem of symbiotic relationships. It means that between the Force, which is sort of a life force, and reality, the connectors between these two things are what we call mitichlorians. They’re kind of based on mitochondria, which are a completely different species, a different animal, that live inside every single cell and allow it to live, allow it to reproduce, allow life to exist. They also, in their own way, communicate with the Force itself. The more you have, the more your cells are able to speak intuitively to the Force itself and use the powers of the Force. Ultimately, I would say the Force itself created Anakin. I don’t want to get into specific terms of labeling things to make it one religion or another, but, basically, that’s one of the foundations of the hero’s journey.”

General Grievous (the 4 armed guy) gets A LOT more screen in the Clone Wars.
Also to answer your question, yes, Dooku and Anakin fight a lot during the Clone Wars. They fight in total of 8 times, so you'll have fun. If you remember, I ranked Mace Windu in your Attack of the Clones video behind Dooku, but Windu was able to best Lord Sidious. How you ask? I'll explain briefly. Windu uses a saber form that he created himself called "Vaapad". It channels the inner darkness, anger and hate from his opponent and turns it against them, so it's EXTREMELY useful against Sith Lords. This "Vaapad" form, however, was ineffective against someone like Dooku, who was calm and calculated while fighting, and Vaapad didn't do anything to Dooku when he and Mace squared off in a comic book. Dooku lost to Anakin because his preferred form called Djem So completely counters Dooku's preferred form called Makashi. Once Anakin mastered Djem So, Dooku virtually stood no chance. I won't go any deeper than this, unless you guys want me to of course! 😂😂
Great reaction! Y'all are gonna love the Clone Wars fr.

You should probably know that Mandalorian continues a lot of plot elements introduced in Clone Wars and Rebels, and can be seen as a sort of continuation of certain plotlines from those shows (they were all made by Dave Filoni, and all his shows carry into eachother.) So Mandalorian will spoil certain parts of Clone Wars and Rebels if you watch it before finishing those.
Your currently planned watch order will not ruin your experience by any means but you will get spoiled to some stuff by going that route. Not a huge problem but I figured you should know so you can make the most informed choice on how to watch everything.

Going forward I recommend watching Kenobi, then Andor (this series is amazing, don't miss out) and Rogue One. Solo is a fun movie (around the same time as the Kenobi Series) but leaving it out isn't terrible either. Depends how much you want to see Solo's backstory.
The Clone Wars is a longer series that you can watch on the side, I'd recommend watching that before jumping into Mandalorian.

Anakin was manipulated & gassed up by Palpatine since he was 8 years old. "We will watch your career with great interest." The statement about point of view during the final battle is probably the entire point of the trilogy. The Jedi & Sith are nearly the same in almost every way, just with different points of view - exactly as Palpatine said during the concert. This is why his villianry is so perfect - not only is he morally evil, but he's also correct about a great many things.
How Anakin became Vader was tragic and sad. Nevertheless, the things he personally did over the years once he turned are unforgivable.

Samuel L. Jackson’s character, Mace Windu, is divisive character in the fandom. Definitely a badass, and had valid reasons to distrust Anakin, due to his recklessness and impatience for desiring respect and recognition. He is however, the poster boy for the dogmatism of the Jedi Order, his devotion to rules being just as maddening as it was inspiring. And his desperation to end Palpatine and maintain the Jedi Order’s position in the Republic was the final push for Anakin’s disillusionment of the Council’s hypocrisy and to join Palpatine. Anakin and Windu had a strained relationship during the Clone Wars and had very opposing views on many things despite what small respect they had for each other. There are still theories that Windu survived his battle with Palpatine.

Anakin turning to the dark side came down to 3 major reasons. 1: Lord Sideous taking advantage of a Anakins feelings towards padme/ convincing him to learn the dark side to save her. (He also knew how hurt anakin was after losing his mom and that he blamed himself for her death.)
2: Early in the 2nd film even when anakin is a teenager he boasts about his strength and power to padme claiming that he’s better than obi-wan and overall just being arrogant/cocky. It was clear from early on that he always had a hunger for more power, and darth sideous gave him a way to gain more power.
3: and of course this played in my opinion the biggest role in anakin turning to the dark side; the council literally disrespected him so hard since he was 9 years old even when they knew he was the chosen one. Even though anakin was impatient and arrogant at times, he showed compassion and kindness to everyone he fought with, and even towards his enemies (in the clone wars.) He never did anything to rash that gave the council a reason to dislike him that much. I’m not justifying Anakin’s actions, but they pushed him way too far away for almost no reason. That’s why all 3 reasons go hand in hand. Darth sideous simply saw all of Anakins weakpoints and attacked them to perfection.
P.S: George Lucas said in multiple interviews that Star Wars is meant to be a dramatic soap opera. As shocking as the ending was to this film, it’s meant to be ‘over the top’ Shakespeare material.

I think it would have been awesome for the Jedi to have there own version of a droid like General grievous made solely for protecting there Jedi temples. They could be activated during attacks on the temples also there could be some that are meant to protect all the hundreds of Jedi younglings/padawans and responsible for evacuating them. Also could back up the Jedi. If they had at least 25 of these droids at the temple when Darth Vader and his 501st legion of clones attacked. So many Jedi would have survived.

People often say Anakin turning to the dark side came out of nowhere but think of it from his point of view. He was purchased as a slave by the Jedi, who wouldn't even bother also freeing his mother because "Emotional attachments are forbidden". Then his true father figure (Qui Gonn) is killed and he's basically raised by a brother figure. The council constantly shows their distrust in him and seem to push him away at every turn, yet they also put him on a pedestal as the "chosen one" and use him for his skills. Then he witnesses his mother's death and fearing padme's death even seeks counsel with Yoda, who basically tells him "You shouldn't be in love anyways, fuck off". So of course when Palpatine, someone he's looked up to since he was a kid, all of a sudden has the answer to save Padme, he wants to keep him alive. Yet he watches Windu ignore Jedi code and go for the kill instead. The Clone Wars show also shows more reasons to expect his turn to the dark side

Palpatine defeated everyone and everything by being an absolute chess master.
In episode one, he got elected by making the previous chancellor look like a bitch,
then later, during the war, he managed to get extra emergency executive powers voted for him to control because he made it seem necessary to end the war, also getting himself an indefinite term til the end of the war, instead of a new chancellor being elected as normal.
Both the seperatists and republic were both under his control, and every battle whichever side won or lost was something he would use to his advantage. By this episode, he's literally so entrenched in all aspects of political power, and has sown mistrust for the jedi in the eyes of the people, that there's nothing anyone can do. He won before this movie even began.
Hes one of the smartest and coolest villains ever, and his takeover is absolutely masterfully done, ESPECIALLY when you see the shit he does in clone wars too.

Also, episode 1 is called The phantom Menace because Palpatine is in the background planning things and causing issues. He’s a phantom menace to the galaxy.
Also, Anakin trusts Palpatine because he’s like a father to him. I’m the comics, Palpatine would take Anakin out as a child and hang out with him. Anakin was always ostracized in the Jedi temple. He became a young king way too old and the other Jedi younglings ostracized him.

But you have to understand Anakin was not simply doomed to being the villain, it WAS mostly the fault of circumstances throughout his life and I would even say that the plan to become more powerful with Anakin was old but because Qui-Gon didn't survive, Anakin wasn't able to learn the full perspective he needed and would have been given were he trained by Qui-Gon and therefore was a victim to the twisted almost invincible plan that Palatine created.

The reason Obi Wan left Vader to burn to death is because he felt Emperor Palpatine approaching through the force. If you look close in the background during that scene, you see the shadow of Palpatine’s shuttle passing over as he arrives to save Vader. Obi Wan needed to to get himself and Padme off the planet. It’s in the Revenge of the Sith novel, unfortunately it’s nearly impossible to create every detail in the movie.

Oh also one thing you should know, Anakin and Vader are two different people. It’s a split personality thing

Thanks for the reaction guys. Just so you know, no one does anything they don't rationalize. That's how we humans operate. So Anakin's fear and lack of healing from past emotional trauma (loss of his mother) made him rationalize all his actions, no matter how heinous and no matter his own initial emotional conflict. By the end, his own fear and anger make him believe that what he is doing is right and everyone has turned against him and are trying to take away the one thing he fears losing, his wife, Padme.

Thing is, Anakin DID fulfil the prophecy if you think about it, he brought balance to the force. While he was a jedi, there were what, thousands of Jedi scattered and 2 sith.. Sidious and Dooku ...Anakin kills Dooku, turns to the darkside and all the jedi but 2 are "wiped" out...Kenobi and Yoda (not including the ones sent into hiding). So the end result, Sidious/Vader....Kenobi/Yoda.....2 and 2...balance. Yoda even said "a prophecy, misread, may have been" so he knew something was up

You guys have to understand the bigger themes in Anakins life. His mother died out of his control, which is why he fears Padme will suffer the same fate and he will still be a slave to fate (which he detests because he was a slave as a child). Thats why he wants to have control over saving Padme and he will do anything to do that. Regarding the Jedi, it may sound like a big twist that he all of the sudden hates the jedi, but when you watch the Clone Wars (especially the arc concerning Ahsoka leaving the temple, but also the arc of the Ones) you'll understand that Anakin was always an outsider regarding the jedi, as the jedi did not allow Anakin to express his feelings and were afraid of him, and in the end it backfired massively on them. Jedi were peacekeepers before the Clone Wars, but during the Clone Wars they became nothing but glorified generals in a neverending war. In the Clone Wars its also seen that the 'common folk' on lots of planets including Coruscant view the Jedi as the wrongdoers. With regards to Anakin, he also saw this during the war. But Anakin also has a whole dynamic going on as being the chosen one. There is a bigger, more broad development with regards to the 'balance' between light and dark: Anakin is the one who would bring balance to the force. At the point of the prequels, the force was heavily in favour of the light side as there were hundreds of light side force users and just a handful of dark side users. Fate balanced it through Anakin, the chosen one, by usuring in a new era of the dark side to balance it out, and in the end he redeemed himself by killing Sidious starting an era of light again. And in the end, he did destroy the sith by killing the Emperor, as forshadowed.

I love mostly all Star Wars and it’s always a treat to see more people get into it tho I would recommend skipping Solo and the sequels. Solo was weird and a bit boring for me and the sequels felt like an insult to me as a Star Wars fan. Like the director of the 8th one literally said he loves to make super divisive movies so that should tell u all you need to know lol

While Palpatine said Vader killed her, he lied. And although the droid said she lost the will to live, the most likely theory is that Palpatine literally sucked the life out of her to keep Vader alive (who was on the verge of death at that point). Also Luke actually isn't even the main character of SW, George Lucas confirmed Anakin is the main character of the entire franchise. The franchise is therefore also known as 'The tragedy of Anakin Skywalker.

Anakins shift is definitely a bit too drastic to be explained by the movie. By the end of the clone wars, it will be a lot more believable
Also, dont watch the sequels, but definitely watch rogue one its really good

Anakins fall is so tragic. all because of love. But even as Vader , Anakin , the good Anakin is always in there. We see that throughout all the shows and even in the end of Return of The Jedi , the prophecy comes true and Anakin brings balance.
